The Steve McGarrett Story – No #16

We continue our story from here

I’ll know for sure when we get through all the episodes, but as far as I can remember now, this is the episode of Hawaii Five-0 that I like the least of all. The story was good, the acting good and the stunts were good, but it was just put together too unrealistic for my taste. But lucky for me I’m not reviewing the episodes, only telling Steve’s story. Unfortunately this one also does not have much to say about Steve either….

Steve puts his SEAL training into practise to rescue a witness. She needs to be in court, but her escort was killed by assassins and she flee from them into the woods. He partners up with Chin to the save the girl.

Hope you enjoy some of his pretty faces………

 ……..some more…….

 ……..and some camo……..

I am really enjoying all of these Steve McGarrett stories – a nice recap of all the episodes. Thanks for doing them.

  2. I remember finding it weird that Chin told Steve about the possibility of germs in that little creek in the jungle (woods? 😉 ). I mean he’s a SEAL, grew up in Hawaii, he surely knows these things. But then – I’m pretty sure in the original script Steve had to inform Danny about this and they changed it because DDK had to step in. At least I think that’s what happened.
I liked the episode because I love Steve in SEAL mode and I love the Steve/Chin interaction much more than another… *cough*.
Love your recaps, funny how many stupid little things I do remember even though it’s a long time since I watched S1. I’m a S3/S4 girl. 😆

    • Yes that story that Chin told him was in Epi 104, And I think you are right about it that Danny would have been there with Steve, but at that stage Scott in real life was recovering from his knee operation and could hardly go on a chase in the jungle.
Steve in SEAL mode is great, but I think he did a lot of stuff in this episode that would not be normal procedure for a SEAL (not that I know much about their training, but just from common sense) – and that is why it is so unrealistic for me. 😦

  5. I admit this is not one of my favorites either, however it is the first episode I watched on the DVD with commentary, and I heard that sexy Aussie accent for the first time. *sigh* He is such a goof ball on it, so stinkin’ adorable, that I couldn’t help falling in love with him. ❤ I didn't know anything about Alex at the time and bought the DVD to catch up on the early episodes I had missed. I stumbled upon H50 one Monday night in the middle of S1 and never stopped watching! So I often revisit this episode on DVD, but only play the commentary version. I loved the teasing and playfulness of the cast while they commentated. Especially when DDK and Grace were making fun of his makeup in the jungle and how unrealistic it was that he could hold a tree in the air and talk on the phone at the same time. Alex making reference to "the guns" during that scene, is so adorable. I'm not for sure, but I think that is the last episode that all 4 of them were on the commentary?? So while not a great episode, still great entertainment if you have the DVD. Love all the pics! His face in 7 & 9… S&T!

    • Paula also told me I should watch the commentary. I do not have the DVD, will need to get it one day.
But doubt if it will change my mind about the episode. I was thinking of writing a review about it, but I am scared I will ruin it for others. Watching it more than once again to try and write something about it, just made it even worse for me. – I am weird 😉

The commentary on this is great! Love his faces – how young he looks! Funny what a few years will do!! LOL!

BTW – FOYeur – I’m a big s1 and 3 fan – s2 was my least favorite and I still only rewatch just a few epis and while 4 was good, there are 3 or 4 epis that I consider excellent. I figure the odd years are the great ones so I have real high hopes for s5!!

  7. The commentary was great 😀 The reason I enjoyed this episode was the camo paint, call me crazy but the fella are always more attractive covered in dirt, blood and camo paint *swoon* lol 😀 I also loved that even tho he and Danny were apart alot in this, he could still be the voice of reason on the phone to Danny and be the sensible one for a change! 😉
