Recap Post of #AlexOLoughlin – Events After #H50 (Part 1)

Fans keep asking for more recent pictures and what Alex has been up to since the end of Hawaii Five-0. We do have a page that summarizes it all, but we decided to do some social media posts about it again as a reminder. Over the next 3 weeks, we will recap these events and post modified pictures of them again. We do the posts in chronological order to make it easier to see when a certain picture was taken or an event took place.

Picture taken in October 2022

(Six months ago – and 31 months after filming of H50 ended))

Before we start the post I want to remind you that these pictures were not taken under the best conditions and some are very small and grainy. There are also some that are screenshots from videos. We have made crops of the originals to get close-ups of Alex. That also results in small grainy pictures.

During photoshoots or on the red carpet, and on shows like Hawaii Five-0, the best lighting and make-up are used to get great-quality pictures by professionals. We are therefore used to seeing Alex in such pictures because they are the ones shared most of the time – because they are the “prettiest”.

These types of pictures that we share here were taken quickly, in bad light or harsh sun and harsh spotlights of stadiums, under bad conditions, from bad angles, at a distance, with normal cameras, and by ordinary people. On most of them, Alex is or was also participating in sport – and yes, you will look tired after a workout or a full day of strenuous activity. Don’t expect miracles!

We have seen the weirdest comments on social media and the funniest conclusions made from such bad-quality pictures.  Maybe wait for good-quality pictures before drawing such wild conclusions.

We start our 3-week journey where #HawaiiFive0 left off …. The last day for Alex on the set of Hawaii Five-0 was 2 March 2020 …..

A shoutout video from the Hawaii State Department of Education with #AlexOLoughlin congratulating the Class of 2020 is posted

Alex says: “This is a huge time in our lives, when move onto the next phase – whatever we chose to do. And this is a really weird time to be doing it – in this pandemic affected world. I just wanted to say to you guys – Don’t let what’s happening in the world hold you back, okay. Let’s look at it as a blessing to give us a little more time to focus on what we want our next steps to look like.”

Alex do a Podcast interview with InfernoCast telling the story of his experiences with Martial Arts since the age of 6 and his present journey with BJJ.

Alex: “I once heard somebody say that, humility, or being humble, you know, it’s not thinking less of yourself. It’s thinking of yourself less.  And, I heard that, and I was like, “That’s amazing!”

The interviews that Alex did during this time, are gems and I always find it good to go back to them and see what he said himself about this period of his life …..

“He’s [Alex] a great storyteller because he can mimic almost anything. And I give credit to a man who happily embraces his gray hair.” – Katherine Moening (co-star, Three Rivers), InStyle Magazine, April 2011

Please remember that all these original pictures posts and transcripts of the videos are posted on the blog.

Thanks again to Michelle Ebert for sharing the precious pictures of them with Alex in October last year.

We will be using them a lot because they tell the best story of Alex.

  1. Thanks for keep on posting and keeping the flame alive. I like the interviews since they are interesting and give some thoughts provoking insights. In general, Alex´s interviews are often worth listening to. If he is not just doing plain promotion, you can see that he is a thinker who has things to say and not just a superficial show guy.

      Oh yes, he’s a thinker!
“Don’t let what’s happening in the world hold you back, okay. Let’s look at it as a blessing to give us a little more time to focus on what we want our next steps to look like.” I wish I had read this at the time. These words would have soothed and helped so many people I know during the lockdown!

      • Well said. I feel the same way because those words had a soothing effect on me back then. At a time when many people were scared and sometimes agressive those words gave a positive perspective. I´m sure, this meant a lot to many people. I´m deeply grateful for his perspective.

      • Oh yes! Perfect description. He is a thinker. Sigh, where’s Rodin when you need him? ⚒🗿😎

Trying to figure out another thinker, one who can instill positivity besides resilience. His first Thinker looks rather gloomy and introverted. Not a bad attempt, I admit, but of course, he did not know our Alex! 😂

  2. I always admire Alex’s thoughtful remarks, indicators of a caring individual who seems to have found his best life. Good for him! And thank you for posting these post-H50 pics with dates and narratives. I sincerely appreciate your dedicating to our hero.

Glad you came back with another new project.
I loved today’s video, the sweetest goodbye dance.
For me you can make a new one every day, or be your next project.

  8. “We have seen the weirdest comments on social media and the funniest conclusions made from such bad-quality pictures.”
    > Oh my, yes, I remember that. But I wouldn’t call the conclusions funny. They were down right stupid and utterly respectless. That was spreading rumours because of a badly taken pic. And it was cleary bullsh/t because a few days later we got the wonderful black belt video and photos. After waiting a few days, hoping someone would say sorry for her comments, (silly me) I was so dumb asking one special commentator and obviously a medical know-it-all if she doesn’t think an excuse would be in order because of her freaking idiotic comment. Well, what was I thinking… I don’t know.

    • Not only that – but now lately his “health” is going up and down within a few minutes from one bad picture – till the next better quality one on the same night and also from one month till the next and then back again on others yet a few weeks later. Just because people do not look at context and occasion.
Those issues I will address in the last (4th) week of the series.
After a whole day of training and testing for the belt, AND getting emotional when he got his belt, in harsh stadium lights, he is supposed to look like a million dollars etc, etc.
AND that is in most cases what inspires the studies ….

      • Those comments are stupid. Even during Hawaii 5 O, when I watched some of the pictures taken about the same time, I more than once had the feeling, I was looking at at least three different men. 😵 🥴  Alex is so versatile. It`s maddening 😉 but he never looks the same.
