I didn’t like this show at all. The only good thing about it was no restaurant. I didn’t think Steve looked comfortable working with Catherine at all. I thought he was wondering, along with Lou, what the heck was she doing there. Catching up? Come on. Her ninja moves in the opening scene were straight out of a comic book. The dialogue between the two of them in the jungle was childish. They’re not teenagers anymore. I was embarrassed for both of them. He’s still with Lynn? Glad to hear it. He deserves some fun times. Jerrys ” Indiana Jones” scenes were cute. Juniors scenes were very poignant. Is Adam going to be a bad guy now? Or just off to the main land. Sorry to say it ,but even Alexs good looks were not enough to save this show. Maybe if he taken his shirt off it would have helped. Not sure, but maybe.

I agree with absolutely everything. The scenes with Catherine were extremly awkward. Not to mention how she brought up the proposal. How rude of her to ask questions about that *again*. As if that wasn’t painful enough the *first* time she asked about it over a year ago. Ridiculous!

I know, right? How incredibly rude to ask about how your life was being planned out without you knowing! It’s totally ridiculous to actually want to know the details and get to the bottom of something that you are resented for without having all sides of the story to aid you! Poor poor dude, I bet she fed Eddie under the table too.

He was putting his heart in the whole proposal story (as Steve, Alex, ALWAYS does) and they messed it up – totally!!! How sad, how sad!
I always liked how Catherine was with Steve in S1 or 2 – THEY were my fav couple, so loveable! Then somewhere in s3 it started to get messy… since then it’s just no for me to watch!
But I enjoy Alex, still…never get tired of his smiles and funny faces and I don’t care (not anymore) whom he makes them to!

Isn’t it incredible how he looks so utterly gorgeous with every new dimple he’s got on that face !?!?! He’s like Sean Connery, better with age (another reason why he would have looked faboulous as James!)

For me it was the best episode of the season. I am a McRoll fan so I was happy to see how comfortable AOL and MB are working together.
I expect to see her next season and I hope we get news of a renewal soon and that Alex has signed on for another year.

This is a warm and accepting site and the majority of us love Catherine and Steve.
I thought the episode was very interesting and the whole cast looked amazing especially Alex, Junior ,. Catherine and EDDIE!!!!

Oh DQ that is so Silly.The “poem ” is tongue in cheek and anybody who knows me knows how much I love Alex, the fact that I love Catherine and Steve together has nothing to do with my love for Alex. I accept That you don”t like the characters but your comments were quite barbed. almost cruel. Just not used to that here or sarcasm either for that matter.

I liked the episode with Alex and Catherine. There was some parts he did indeed look confused.. But I don’t like the part where Adam wanted out of the Task Force. He should we stay and help Steve, Not go hunting the mainland for his wife,

Paula, I agree with you. They work well together and it was good to see a level of comfort between them return. There may have been closure of McG’s (and Cath’s!) anger and disappointment but I didn’t see closure of their affection for each other.

I love Catherine, but I’m no fan of McRoll. Dees that make me a hater too? How exactly does this work? I was glad to see Catherine. I kind of wanted it written that 5-0 was ordered by the governor to assist her team in their efforts, but this was fine. If Catherine ever returns again, I want to see her with her own task force and 5-0 working in conjunction with her team, but I know that’s a dream.
I didn’t really see any confusion or awkwardness. I see what I’ve always seen. They have always loved and cared for each other. I don’t know if they’ve ever been head over heals in love that turns into lifetime companionate love, but that can be attributed to the writing. I was raised by an old-fashioned mom and I guess I have a lot of her beliefs, so the friendship turning into a relationship and back into a friendship helps me accept some ways Steve treated her more as a buddy sometimes or overstepped some boundaries. However, I have to be honest and say I was a little annoyed with the free meal Steve wrangled out of her for his entire team. It’s not the first time she’s treated HIS team to a free meal. At least this time they’re no longer dating, so I won’t question him being a gentleman or the way this was written into the storyline, I guess.

I don’t want to start a huge argument here,but it doesn’t seem likely that a governor could order the CIA to accept help from 50 or any other state law enforcement agency. I’m pretty sure the CIA would pull rank on the governor. Even in 50 la-la land.

This was just meh for me. I think I’m burned out on all the “there’s a bomb on a Hawaiian island” stories. Can we get back to investigating crimes? As for Catherine I think I don’t care about her either way anymore, but having her climb that tree might be the dumbest scene that’s ever been on the show.

Yes it was. Rachel is my favorite woman on the show because she behaves like a real woman. Scrawny, skin tight jean wearing, lettuce eating super-ninja women in movies and TV shows is my pet peeve.

They had just had their supplies taken from them – they needed water. Dollars to donuts if Cath hadn’t thought of it, Steve would have – and him climbing the tree would’ve been the BEST THING EVERRRRR.

mamayorkie, I haven’t been on social media since forever but just had to come out of hiding for this. It’s just too witty, (and true). Catherine was just takin’ care of business. It takes an Alpha woman to recognize that. You are my heroine.

As much as I wish both could get together. But still both of them seem to move on. And in the process acting grown up. Really hate it when she goes to Steve to ask for a favor. Of course he does not say no. But really trying to catch up on old times despite their lives on the line.

How could Steve say no to her about the favors? Think of all the favors he has asked of her in the past. How many cases would he have solved if not for her help? That is one of the reasons that I didn’t like the Catherine character. She was always so willing to put her career in the navy on the line just to keep a man. Granted, I would do just about anything for a roll in the hay with Commander McGarrett also. But that’s just me. One can only dream. Oh my.. is it getting hot in here?

I think at the beginning, Steve’s character was more selfish (which I also liked very much) also with Danny, all was always Steve’s way (which I also liked very much, omg, he was so manly manish back there) – where was I?!? 😉
Anyway, I always liked Catherine’s favours!

I loved it. Steve and Cath on a mission – back to their old selves, Jerry looking into unsolved mysteries, Junior backstory, and Adam finally admitting he’s got no business being in law enforcement. I suspect there will not be any further story with the dead half sister… Adam will just go. Hopefully. I always thought it was ridiculous to have him on the show without Kono.

I was really happy with this ep. I hated that Cath left and was delighted to see my second favorite 5-0 return, bigger and bad-assier than ever! Moreover, we lost a cool part of McG when she left. We saw a bit of him in this ep…he got some of his radiance back after looking haggard most of this season. Also these two do great dry comedy together, which I find preferable to the McD slapstick 3Stooges gags.
Uplifting episode all around! Except dreary Adam, as usual. What was the entire point of his story arch, unless it was to show him as, once again, a loser? Boring. Trite. Unnecessary. And I have nothing against the actor, it’s just that ZzzZzzZzz….

One thing is for sure is that Steve and Cath always have and always will have great chemistry together. They are truly a great match. I wasn’t buying all that friendship BS because no one can tell me they don’t love each other still and I mean “LOVE”! I hated when she left Steve and broke his heart as it also broke mine! I remember the scene when he was sitting on the bed heartbroken and looking in the bathroom at the 2 toothbrushes….OMG!
I think once Steve came to realize later that Cath being who she was had every right to pursue her own dreams of what she wanted in her life, even if leaving was painful to both, was kinda able to move somewhat forward but I don’t think ever fully. After all Cath did not know he was planning to ask her to marry him until after the fact. As she told him later when he asked her what would she have said and her reply was I would have said yes. She also told him she would always love him. If S9 comes about it would be interesting to see if the Steve and Cath saga continues and where it may go.
I was happy to see that cutie Eddie I might add! I also like that humorous moment between Grover and Steve when Cath was explaining the mission. I would also add if S9 does come about will there be more dirty bombs or poisonous materials to be found on HI?? They have used this storyline at nauseam!!!
As far as Adam is concerned he needs to be with his wife. He’s always been by her side no matter what. That’s a good place for him to be because he is in no way a crime fighter even though I think he’s involved with his sister’s murder.

I also remember the look on his face in the plane when he realized she had lied to him about staying, on her last trip back to Hawaii for Konos wedding.She knew even before that one last horizontal tango for old times sake that she was leaving.That did it in for me about her. And I thought for him too.

Catherine turning up as a guest star once a year is fine, they have lots of guest stars who do that with a lot less fuss. Unfortunately the Catherine/steve story was too similar to many others they have had before. Hopefully when or if she does her S9 episode they will have something more interesting for her, to reward the loyal Catherine fans. Junior and Adam were interesting.

I loved seeing Steve and Catherine together. Whether they are friends or lovers or something in between, their chemistry ignites the screen. Their scenes were natural and cute. It was adorable how they were each trying to convince the other they moved on and were happy. Lol. Yeah, sure, ok. I don’t believe that for a second and neither do they. I have no doubt there is more to this story. The scene where Grover asks Steve how it went, and that smirk on Mcg face was a sure indication he loved every minute he spent with her. Bring on s9 and hopefully a real Mcroll reunion.
Let’s also hope Adam stays with his wife on the mainland. Zzzz. There really is no reason for him to be here at all. I assume it was IAD consolation prize since GP didn’t renew her contract.
Junior was ok but his storyline dragged on a little too long making it a little boring.
Overall I thought it was the best episode of the season maybe even the best of several seasons.

I enjoyed this ep a lot but I thought her demands to know more about the ring a bit “the lady doth protest too much.” If she doesn’t feel “that way” about him any more, why ask? I think he has moved on but she hasn’t. I dont want them to get back together. She lied to him too many times and he has a lot of trust issues, That being said I don’t think he and Lynn has much going on either. He needs to meet someone new.
The Adam story intrigues me. He nearly got beaten to death and he DID have the money? He needed an alibi and his sister is dead? Pretty strange.

It was always going to be that divided as far as who liked it vs not. It’s difficult to step back and look at what is happening onscreen and seeing why. The people who called this silly filler aren’t seeing the reason, because they don’t want to. There ARE legit silly filler episodes. This wasn’t one of them.
I really don’t care if they don’t like a character – lord knows I don’t like all of them. I do take offense when standards are applied to the one character they don’t like when every/any other character has done the same, or could do the same and it would be beloved/awesome/BEST EVER. Multiple times this week I couldn’t keep quiet when people were lambasting Catherine for having her hair down in the jungle. Literally one person was “she’s such a bitch and THAT HAIR” – like it’s her bitch power or something. Meanwhile, every SINGLE other woman on the show (and Jerry too, when his hair was long) have been seen over and over running around in 4inch boots and long, curly tresses. The double standard is just ridiculous,

When you have nothing else in your life and you think you have paid your dues by supporting every absurd thing the writers have put out there, it must be difficult to accept the fact that the EP will thank you with a return tweet and then never give your wishes a second thought.
When you think you have influence over the story line and find out you don’t, it must be hard admit that, like the rest of us, you were only invited along for the ride, not to drive the car.
Friday the 13th turned out to be a lucky day after all.

I feel sorry for Michelle. Being on this show has ruined her career. The huge fan division and the fallout from the Twitter debacle have basically blackballed her. I think she’s a talented actress and a beautiful woman. I’d love to see her on other shows. I can’t find her anywhere. That frustrates me. If you look at her IMDB, she’s done almost nothing since being on this show, just a few small projects in the past five years. Her resume is very full, prior to being on the show.
She’s paid a huge price for being Catherine on Hawaii Five-O.

In all honesty I have to admit I see H50 as a curse to her in some ways because being on the show as a regular monopolized her time and gave her little time to do other projects when there were times she’d be in less than a handful of scenes. Because they had her bound to a contract she had no set schedule and had to be available when her character was needed. It did earn her a decent paycheck so that was good, but I’ve seen what she did before 50 and she had lots of potential. She was on an HBO original show and a lead on ABC. I have no doubt she would have had her own significant role in a matter of a couple of years after Combat Hospital. However, she’s starting to do movies and films again. One of them was on lifetime and it was well-received. I’m hoping she can use this to reinvigorate her career possibly getting one of the shows produced on Lifetime or Hallmark that give her more visibility. She has some super fans so if they just follow and praise her new stuff I’m sure she’ll get some new attention.
Also, I choose to believe she’s busy working on other projects and can only make time to come do H50 once or twice a year and prefers to stay on the mainland. The only problem I have is that if this is not true PL has McGyver that films on the mainland and she could easily make guest visits or be cast as a regular or he could have used her on Magnum PI if not 50

I want to see the short but I don’t know how or where it would be available. Devious Nanny was damn good and I’m grateful to one of the fans that found and posted the premiere date. I had just looked for it the weekend before and couldn’t find it. I’m glad for her. Regardless of what happened in the past and whether people like her or not we all have bills to pay and I would never wish for anyone to be unable to find work.

Devious Nanny might very well be damn good. I’ve set my DVR for it already. But it’s a made for TV movie on the Lifetime channel. It seems that those movies feature has beens and never beens. Sad really. Whatever, a girls gotta eat, right?

How well do I know! You gotta do what you gotta do. The movie was different than the usual Lifetime movies so I think you’ll like the twist. Perhaps she’ll get more on lifetime or maybe she’ll get noticed for one of the shows they produce. I know in Hollywood age plays a factor and there’s so much competition. I’d just like her to able to find work for as long as she wants to act. Of course if she gets tired of that she does have a B.A. degree and a long history in entertainment she can use.

Three projects on your IMDB from 2012-2018 is not my idea of doing well as an actress. She shows nothing from 2012-2016. She was on Five-O from 2012-2014, but then there are two years of nothing. Her acting resume since Five-O is very thin. She was much busier before Five-O.

Well they did an article with her when she became a regular. She said that she didn’t have a set schedule like the core 4, but had to be available at all times so during filming season except for breaks, I think, she moved to Hawaii which didn’t allow for time to audition for anything else. She said there were times she would film for 1 day and be off for the next week or so, but then there were times she’d film practically all week. I think that somewhat affected her since that was the only show she did for several years. She might have also taken some time off. She doesn’t seem extremely extravagant so I’m sure she earned enough to travel and do other things. There’s also so much competition for the same roles that I’m sure some actors have to reinvent themselves and show they can take on a different variety of roles. It looks like her resume is starting to pick up again, but it’s almost like she’s typecast and only seen as Catherine on H50

It’s not the money, it’s the ability to be offered new and different roles. Actors love to WORK. Being paid to sit around and do nothing drives actors crazy. Hopefully Michelle saved enough money during her contract years on Five-O to live on the past few years. She’s not a well known name in the industry, so she’s not getting great salaries for the very few roles she’s managed to get. I hope her career starts to pick up. I like her and would love to see her in other roles.

LOL! I’m a Cath hater myself since she left Steve for the 2nd time, lying to him worse than good old Doris, but don’t feel childish at all! On the contrary, I’ve made a detailed psychological study of Cath, and my conclusion is that she qualifies as a hateful woman. LOL!

I may not like what Cath did when she came back and alluded that she would be staying indefinitely but in her defense since he never defined the relationship and she might have preferred it that way she was free to come and go as she pleased. The only problem is she shouldn’t have started anything since she told him to move on with his life, but I’m putting it all on the writer’s.

He didn’t define the relationship? And did she? If she loved him and saw he wasn’t making any move, she could have asked him directly what his plans were for the future. Then according to his answer, she could have chosen to stay or go. But of course, this is not RL but a show!

And on this I agree. Which is why I think maybe she was okay with it the way it was because she was free to come and go. I honestly don’t think she would have been completely happy sitting in Hawaii regularly so at least she’s doing something she enjoys. However I’ve said it before the writer’s went in all directions with the McRoll saga. I think that it was Michelle and Alex’s acting that created McRoll, but the writer’s never figured out how to navigate the relationship. Of course it’s a procedural show so relationships will always be the backburner storyline.

Good observation about the actors creating McRoll and the writing not really knowing what to do. I’ve never heard anyone describe it that way before. The writers have certainly done no favors to that relationship.

I love the episode. Catherine and Steve have sparkling chemistry, they’re totally at ease with each other. Alex and Michelle are gifted comedic actors and they mesh beautifully together. It’s fun to see Steve and Catherine try to explain their current romantic status. She’s not involved with anyone due to her crazy career which takes her all over the world. Has everyone noticed that every time Steve mentions Lynn, he always says, “We’re keeping it casual.” They’re basically bed partners at this point. We never see her in his home or in his life. Junior’s still living with Steve, right? He never mentions Lynn either. She’s a ghost!
I enjoyed Jerry’s Indiana Jones journey down yet another disappointing path. He’s looking handsome these days with short hair and the fedora. Love the look! It’s fun to bring Jerry back to his roots. He’s at his best as a conspiracy theorist and an explorer of mysteries, folk lore and local legends.
Junior has a very powerful, emotional, heart-tugging life story. We find out why Junior and his dad are estranged — because his sister was killed in the war and his dad doesn’t want to lose a son, too. For me, Beulah Koale hits a home run with every scene he’s in. He’s heartbreakingly real and my heart melts for his character’s storyline. He’s an incredibly talented young actor. I LOVE the scene where he stops and gazes out at the very spot where Steve and Danny went hiking so long ago. Brings everything back. I could sit in that gorgeous place and gaze out at the beauty forever.
I have no idea where Catherine and Steve are going. I love this moment in time and I’m happy that they’re friends again. Steve appears to have gotten over his broken heart. That’s a good thing.

Lynn is a ghost? Along with all the other personal story lines. We never see Renee anymore, but does anyone think that she and Lou got divorced? I don’t think so. What about Lous kids? Or Dannys kids? We don’t see Melissa anymore, but Danny and her are still together, as far as we know. Maybe Junior is cramping Steves style living there. Lynn must have her own place. Even Catherine had her own house when she was working with Billy. Surely they could do the deed there some of the times. Maybe she even treats him to a home cooked dinner every once in a while. Or they watch “Chucky” and eat popcorn. Even though we don’t see a character for a few episodes doesn’t mean they are gone. In Hawaii people are even known to come back from the dead. WoFat? Doris? Am I missing anyone?

Lol, dq. We saw Lou’s son, daughter and wife this year. We briefly saw Rachel twice and we’ve seen Charlie many times this year. We are missing Grace, and I miss her a lot. Melissa’s a ghost too! It seems that the the show has written out love interests for all the major characters. I think it’s because they can’t get the actors who are busy doing other projects and aren’t available to cast in guest starring roles. Sigh. I miss all those people. Would love to see Lou’s whole family.
People have brought up Steve’s love life in four or five episodes this year,which I find interesting. Every time he mentions Lynn, he adds “We’re keeping it casual.” Steve’s guarding his heart from being broken again. It’s interesting and telling to me that Steve brings up “casual.” Nobody’s asking!!!

I miss Lou’s family also. One of my favorite episodes was when they were on the run in the jungle. Very memorable scenes in that one.Strong performances from Chi and whoever plays Renee.

Paula, you’ve got such a good ‘eye’ for the perfect gif-able moments. The pink beast gif is a gem. I totally missed that moment. Thank you!

I thought this was a good episode but what irked me was Junior’s backstory and how he had access to photos and voice messages from his dead sister. I kept asking how, unless he had it all stored in cyber cloud this whole time? After all he had nothing but the clothes on his back when he joined the show, he lived in a homeless shelter and the phone Steve gave to him was stolen.

I was reading all these comments and remembering past ones and feel rather amused in a positive way about how “seriously” we talk of these characters, as if they were real people who can make us cry, laugh or be angry, which means the writers are not so bad after all.

Precisely. This is just a show and these are characters on a page who only come to life when the actors are filming what the writers give them. When I hear the “she broke his heart” comment I am reminded that she did no such thing because it was the writers who broke his heart. Take it out on them, not the character.

You’re right, of course, but yours is an intellectual approach. The thing is that even if we KNOW that the WRITERS broke his heart, they make us FEEL that SHE did it. That’s why I love this show. The characters are so real. I even have a soft spot for exasperating Sang Min!

The writers put it on the page, but the actors’ talents draw me in to believe that their characters are really in love and are broken hearted. So kudos to Alex and Michelle’s wonderful acting for making me feel that Steve and Catherine are a great love story. The writers did write a great love story. And then they just threw it away.

Even though they messed up the relationsship with Steve and Catherine, Alex still brings faces and facial expressions he only shows when Catherine is around, like the one in the 1st pic, the same smile as the one when he gives her the flower on the bench in s1, the same eyes with a slight smile!
And the laugh in pic3 – I love that! As for the previous seasons in this ep, I could still see the love!
Also, Catherine looked much better this time! She was more herself again..!
