I just try to carry the sense of integrity and authenticity I had in the beginning of my career, because I think that’s what makes people interested in you in the first place.

It’s important not to lose that.

I also think it’s a great piece of film, but I never made it beyond Alex uuupps! I mean Will’s death. Shame on me. I will catch up on this soon. I just so much adore the expressions on his beautiful, tanned face. One can spend hours just watching the tiny movements and changes in his countenance. And his lashes in the 1st pic are killing me. TY.

    • Wow 🙂 We got Moonlight and Mary Bryant almost back to back, just by chance happened to have TV on the right channel and I think I recognised Alex from ML and then had to look him up. “Who is this guy?” and rest is history…

  10. Thank you, Paula for making a post of Will. I missed him.
Create a film or a series based on true historical facts is not always easy and they did a great job. Alex was amazing in this mini-series. He manages with his look, face and gestures tell over half of Will’s story, we know how Will feels during all the time. And the nominations and award were well deserved. It’s definetly a must watching for any Alex’s fan.

  13. The acting by Alex and Romola was absolutely amazing and deeply moving in this mini series. I am shocked that neither got an award and curious to know which of the other nominees actually beat them and even WHO the other nominees were!!

      • Thank You FOYeur. I think Alex and Romola ended up being much more fanous than any of those people. Romola Garai is a huge star in the UK and Alex well known all over the World.

  14. I just watched this gem in its’ entirety a couple of weeks ago. Alex and Romola were amazing in their portrayal of two people so in love and desperate to save their children from a life of imprisonment and starvation. My heart ached for Will as he watched Mary give herself to Lt. Clarke so they could escape. Their first kiss was my favorite of all Alex’s on screen kisses. It was so sensual. It was captured so beautifully with the camera angle catching his chiseled jawline, his soft lips and those amazing eyelashes as he gently kissed her smiling face. *Sigh*
Also, loved the scene in the tent where he says in a very sexy voice, “Oh…it’ll last.” Then he flashes that CFM smile and ((THUD))

Aaww, these emo faces are heart (and panty) melting! Also, your new side banner, squee! A very intense look on the side banner – is Steve checking himself out, looking at the yummy topless pic on the other side? 😀

  16. This mini series is one of my favorites with Alex, besides Moonlight (my first Alex encounter and my first love 🙂 ). There are so many beautiful emotional scenes which Alex plays to perfection.

Though it might sound strange, my favorite scene is Will’s death. All the emotions you can see on his face, the love for his family, the sadness about never see them again, the hope his sacrifice might save time for them to escape, the love for life, and finally the determination to rather die fighting than being imprisoned again. It’s a great scene, just to think and write about it now brings tears to my eyes, and the most amazing about it is that it’s Alex’ version. It was scripted a bit different, Alex stretched the scene with the long gaze over the water, and the director liked it and used it. (There is a post about it on here, somewhere.)

Thanks for the great gifs, Paula!
