Hello everyone!!

Dearest Friends, Family and devoted Fans.
Well I just thought i would put a blog out and touch base with everybody before this crazy show of mine goes back into production… which is happening any minute now!!
I have got to say that this show of ours is SUCH a little survivor, it’s unbelievable! I mean, talk about delivering in the face of adversity…
* They completely recast the whole show around my character after the initial Pilot was shot (which never aired of course).
* We have gone through not 1..2….3…………but 4 different Show Runners.
* We were fighting to survive, let alone get a pickup and the industry moved into a 3 month Writers Strike.
… and that is just the beginning of it.
With all that being said not only are we still on air with another pickup of 4-5 shows, but we won best new show in the People’s Choice Awards!!
The award however, is only because of all you AWESOME fans out there. You guys take full credit for that one and know that from the bottom of our hearts, ALL of us here at MOONLIGHT (cast and crew) love you for it!!! 😉
I have been in touch with a number of you individually but i wanted to send out a group mail to let you all know what has been happening recently in the world of Alex.
I have been all over the planet in the last 2 months, Australia twice, London, Paris, Rome, Dublin and back through LA like three times where I now find myself, back at home gathering my thoughts and readying myself for the onslaught that is MOONLIGHT to come. Honestly… I cant wait!!
My travels have been as extensive as they have because i have been promoting the show for the world market. We have started airing in different regions of Europe with a lot still to come and already are being received very well. I saw how hard you all fought to keep this great story alive while i was here shooting it and realized that though i had some time away from the set and the cameras over this strike period and during the Christmas break, i had to keep working as hard as you guys have been so when the time does finally come for our second season pickup (and it’s not too far away now!) we know we all did everything we could.
I am currently working on a refurbished MySpace page and official Alex O’Loughlin fan page which I look forward with great anticipation to delivering to you.
I am well. I am happy. I am focused and i am ready, once again, to pour everything i can back into this great little show of ours to make it the best i possibly can!!
Wish me luck my friends.
All my love and appreciation,
Alex xox

Family and Friends

Dear Friends, Family and wonderful, wonderful Fans of MOONLIGHT.
Well, where to start….?
The decision to cancel MOONLIGHT… my MOONLIGHT… our MOONLIGHT, is
as much of a shock and gut wrenching surprise to me as it is to all of
you.
Really, I don’t even know where to begin.
I sit here at my computer, still slack jawed even 24 hours after
receiving the news that my services are no longer required on the set
of this show. A show we have all come to know and love deeply, and it
hurts more than I can possibly tell you.
Since i got THE CALL I have not read anything online or otherwise, I
have not been following blogs or forums, I have not been reading the
trades or opinion polls and I have not been calling around to get
information.
“Why are you not fighting for your show?!” I hear you all scream!!
The truth is my friends, I never STOPPED fighting for it.
From the very beginning when I was told time and again that i wasn’t
the man for the job, having to prove myself to everyone with tests and
screen tests, to a complete re-casting of the show, through 5
different show runners at the helm with 5 different artistic visions,
to a Writer’s strike that took 5 episodes away from us…… oh how
the list goes on.
But through all of that, i am proud to say that not once did I bow
down and allow someone else to come in and do with MOONLIGHT as they
please. And along the way, if I needed a break and wanted to do that,
I don’t think I could have anyway because, well, I suppose it’s just
not in my nature! 😉
This is all still so fresh for me and I am going to need a little time
to process this whole thing before i can digest what has actually
happened, let alone move on.
Honestly. I really feel lost for words.
I will say however, that never, never in my life have I experienced
first hand a level of support from a group of people like that of you
all who are reading this now, and who ‘loved this show to life’
alongside me. It has been overwhelming to say the least.
I am grateful to you all.
I am extremely proud to be associated with this piece of television.
And I am so, so sorry to my very core, to lose MOONLIGHT.
All my love,

Alex O’Loughlin x

Family and Friends

Dear Family, Friends and wonderful fans.
I have recently been going through a lot of mail from you guys and I wanted to take this opportunity to say a few things.
First, I would like to preface by apologizing for any late replies to mail I have been sent. I try to get to it all asap but sometimes it goes through a number of different channels before I even see it and time can slip away.
But the main reason for me writing is that I have found myself totally overwhelmed at the amount of support you have all been giving me in this time.
Its true, to have something you put your heart into taken away can be difficult, painful and sometimes confusing. In this instance all of the above. But never do you expect to receive anything like the amount of cards, letters and notes of appreciation and love that I have recently. It has been awesome!
Thank you all so very much.
Only too well do I understand the attachment so many of you had to Moonlight and to Mick, Beth, Josef and the gang but now that they have been laid to rest I can only hope you will all follow me into my next exciting adventure, whatever that may be.
We all fought so hard.
We all worked so hard.
I guess some things are simply out of our hands.
I look forward with great anticipation to giving you all the news of the next chapter in this crazy career of mine!!
And again, thanks for all the wonderful support.
Warmest regards
Alex O’loughlin. x o x

August 25th

Dear Family, Friends and Fans.
Hi there all!
I would like to preface by thanking everybody who has been involved with the various American Red Cross events recently, and to those of you who have helped make the actual blood drives happen, congratulations and THANK YOU!!!
The American Red Cross is such a terrific and important organization that saves many lives every year and I am very proud to be associated in any way I can.
As you know yesterday was my birthday and thanks to everybody around me I had a really great day. In fact it was amazing.
Another year older, but not necessarily wiser!
To answer some of your questions and just so the record is straight I am now 32, having been born in 1976 contrary to what other sources may tell us, which makes me year of the Dragon in Chinese astrology.
Never before have i received anything like the volume of kindness that i received this year. I have been inundated with messages, cards and gifts from so many of you and I am trying to get back to you one by one but it will take me a while so I really appreciate everyone’s patience.
It’s funny. Instead of Mom, Dad, Bro, Sis, Nan & Gramps etc… I now have 10,000 “thank you” letters to write!! Whoa LOL 😉
As you know I have now officially signed back with the CBS family for a new show opportunity. We are currently in development of a number of new ideas and this will keep us busy through till the end of the year.
I know this isn’t much information but I’m under contract again and I’m afraid it’s all I can give you right now.
Anyway, I just wanted to touch base with you all quickly on my way to work and say thank you for making yesterday great. It really was.
Warmest regards to you all

October already!

Hello everyone.
I would like to start by talking a bit about The American Red Cross.
As you all know I was approached whilst on the show Moonlight to be a spokesperson and representative for this organization.
Of course I accepted immediately.
I felt honored to be a part of it and hoped I could somehow make a difference in the lives of others.
Now with my Red Cross involvement drawing to a close I can only hope I did enough, but that being said I would like to bring up something I have mentioned before.
ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE INVOLVED!!
It was only possible for me to participate because so many wonderful, committed and passionate people came before me and put everything in it’s right place for me to be able to slip into the role I eventually did. There are so many of you (and you know who you are!) who were instrumental in this venture and some of you I had the opportunity to thank personally, but to the others I never met or spoke with, thank you so very much. From the bottom of my heart I appreciate the goodwill and charity with which you all worked, and if everyone in the world practiced the same selflessness as you, well….. 😉 I think we would all be doing just fine by now! Thank you.
I have only just caught up on all of my birthday mail and there were many of you who sent the most wonderful gifts and cards/letters/messages. It made my birthday something extra ordinary and I felt very loved so thank you very much!!
Wow, lots of “thank you”s today.
As for me, I am great. I am very busy, and have been since we last chatted, on the new project I am developing but it is all still hush hush, sorry guys! Anyway, I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up in case we don’t make it to the screen. So fingers crossed!
I will keep you all posted as soon as I have some exciting news!!
All my love

I’m back!

Hello everybody.
Thank you all very much for your patience and dedication.
It has been a long time since I have had any communication with you guys and I wanted to reach out and let you all know what is going on in my world.
I have been back in Australia for the last couple of months visiting family and friends, and upon my return to Los Angeles realized that a number of messages from last year have not yet been answered.  I also recieved a large amount of mail from you guys and want to assure you, that I will respond to everyone, MySpace and snail mail, as soon as I possibly can… starting right now!   😉
So many of you sent the most thoughtful and generous gifts to me for Christmas.  From clothing, to jewelry and accesories, to snacks & candy and chocolates, calenders, beautiful books and incredible cigars.
It was not expected but deeply appreciated and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
Currently I am moving into a position where we have narrowed down the projects that I have genuine interest in, and hope to have reached a decision on something very soon!
I hope to hear from you all soon and will keep you posted on everything as it develops for me.
All my love

Countdown to My guest spot on CBS’ Criminal Minds

My guest spot on CBS’ Criminal Minds
Wednesday April 29th, 2009 at 9:00 PM
Check it out

Mar 27, 2009

Hello from Pittsburgh

Hi everybody.
So I know you have all been anxious to know exactly what I’m up to, and I’m sorry it’s taken me a minute to get back to you but things are now clear.
As some of you know I did a little guest role on Criminal Minds which was a lot of fun. I got to work with some great friends and terrific people and I had a really good experience. The episode is called The Big Wheel. I hope you enjoy it.
I am currently in Pittsburgh filming a new pilot for CBS called Three Rivers. It is about as different from Moonlight as anything could possibly be (laughing right now) but that being said I sure hope all you “die hard” vampire fans come with me on this journey!
Three Rivers is a wonderful story about donors, recipients and surgeons in the world of transplant surgery and of how all these people’s lives are affected on a daily basis by the miracles and devastations involved in surgery today.
As I’m sure you can appreciate I have been totally consumed with my research and preparation for this role, and along the way I have discovered a secret passion within myself for cardio thoracic surgery! Who knew?!! 😉 It is very interesting, very important and I believe this story we are about to embark on will be something you will very much enjoy being a part of.
I hope you are all healthy and well and until we speak again…wish me luck!!
All my love,
Alex O’Loughlin

May ’09

Hey everybody!
Thought I would drop you all a quick line and let you know that things are going really well.
I finished Three Rivers and landed the role in Jennifer Lopez’ new film The Back Up Plan, which I have been madly working on preparing since I got back from Pittsburgh.
It is very exciting news about this film, and I think it will be a really good thing for me but it does mean I am going to have to miss out on other things.  One of these being the Star Fury event in London which I was looking forward to very much.
I really wanted to reach out to anyone who was going to come and say hello to me there.
I know that when you buy your tickets they tell you we (the actors) may not be there if we get a job, but I’m sorry all the same.  I wanted to be there too but this film I could not pass up.  I hope you guys understand.
Also, thank you so much to all the people who tuned into my Criminal Minds episode the other night.  It was a fun show to be a part of.
All my love to you all.

Its been a while

Current mood: adored

Hi everybody.

Well it certainly has been a minute since I last wrote you all, but I am glad to say that it’s because I literally have not stopped working since we last spoke.  I finished The Backup Plan a few days ago and flew straight back to LA to start production on Three Rivers, which is where I am now.

The film experence was wonderful!  We were very lucky to have the team of producers & the director that we had and I would work with them all again tomorrow!  It was nothing but positive.

Our director and leader, Alan Poul was as good as you can get. Very intelligent, funny, sensative to everyone’s needs and a true visionary. I think we might just have a decent little film on our hands! 😉

Many of you have sent me messages full of questions about Jennifer and how I found working with her, and I appreciate your enthusiasm.

Jennifer is a very private person and I respect that, so what I will tell you is that she is all the good things you could possibly imagine her to be. Funny, smart, generous, always prepared, very professional, always punctual… and of course, beautiful.

Thank you all so much for the constant support.  It can be difficult to reach you all personally and individually, but none of your love and hard work ever goes unnoticed or unappreciated.  It is something in my life that helps me find the energy I don’t always think I have, to get through another long work day and stay inspired. Without you all it would be kind of pointless so, again, thank you.

All my love

Me Again

Dear All,
As I write this I am conscious of the fact that I feel like I say the same things in every blog I send out to you all… “Thank you-Thank you-Thank you”.
I haven’t stopped for so long and it kind of seems like my birthday came and went really quickly this year. But it wasn’t without THE most ridiculous influx of gifts, cards, and the usual, wonderful support I am slowly becoming accustomed to from all of you.  My ever loyal and loving fans.
So I guess I’ll just say it again..
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!
Three Rivers has me very busy everyday and with the upcoming release of Whiteout I have found myself working every weekend too, busy with promotions & publicity in an attempt to launch the show and support the movie. I am very excited about both.
But the thing I am most excited about is the opportunity Three Rivers has presented for me to get back to some community service.
I am now a spokesperson, and soon to start my training to become an ambassador for Donate Life America.  It is such an important cause and one that so many of us could do with a little more information on.
I am now officially an organ, eye and tissue donor and have my little DLA card to keep in my wallet. (god forbid anything ever happen that would put it into action!)
That being said, and again…touch wood…I now have the chance to give the gift of life, which I believe is the greatest gift of all.
On another note, and FYI, I will be doing the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson again on Labor Day (to air that night I think) and it looks like I’ll pitch the first ball of the Dodgers-Pirates game on September 15th so wish me luck. I had some pitching practice today at the stadium and apparently I can throw a ball. Haha. Not at 100 MPH though. 😉
Guys, thanks for a really terrific birthday. You make me feel like I’m never alone.
Be well. Be safe.
All my love,
Alex.   X

Tune In This Sunday to THREE RIVERS

Current mood: busy

Hello everybody.
I thank you all for being so patient with me in this hectic time. I have been meaning to update you every other day, but am constantly inundated with requests, interviews, charity work… and of course Three Rivers.
We have had a rough start with the show as far as numbers are concerned.  Hopefully, this is due partly to East Coast football and baseball playoffs. But our wonderful cast and crew maintain an attitude of stoicism and commitment in the promise of more attention toward this show which I have come to love and believe in so much.
When I first read the pilot I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off. If I could in fact breathe any life whatsoever into this surgeon guy, Andy Yablonski.
I have worked really hard and i continue to study everyday the medical text books and reference material I use for this show. I collaborate with everyone on the show to make it better for you on Sunday, and now we are on the air pushing through to what we hope will be a “back nine” pickup, meaning Three Rivers will live to see a full season.
I want you all to know that as always, I humbly appreciate all the support I constantly receive and that I am fighting hard to bring you a show I hope we can all be proud of.
Until we speak again, thank you and please tune in to Three Rivers!
All my love,
Alex. X

THREE RIVERS

Hey everyone…..

Well, like usual I have been meaning to write you all and, like usual, not getting around to it.  Before Thanksgiving….. during

Thanksgiving….after Thanksgiving!  But today, I thought I better get to it…..

A lot of you probably already know this, because you guys know what’s happening in my life before I do, but today I was informed that Three Rivers would soon draw to an end.

To be honest I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

After Moonlight was canceled I needed to go away and regroup for a while.  I was hesitant to engage in another show at all, even when Three Rivers was proposed, but I realized immediately how important this story was and would be. This, the story of so many different people all around the world who’s lives have somehow been affected by organ donation and transplant medicine.

I often catch myself saying things like “We’re actors! We’re not curing cancer or feeding the hungry.”  (Of course referring to the fact I don’t always feel that as an actor my job is that important or relevant.)  But I soon realized that Three Rivers would be a source of great comfort to those aforementioned people, providing perhaps for the first time an accurate and cathartic experience directly related to that which they all shared.

Already in this short time I have received so many beautiful letters of support and gratitude from so many of you who have lost loved ones, and also shared the gift of life with others as a result of those tragedies.  And this sudden cancellation has rocked me completely.

As most of you know, through Three Rivers I was blessed to have been afforded the chance to work with the organization Donate Life America. This potential opportunity was one of the main reasons I agreed to do the show, and having only recently finished my Ambassador training I had become an official spokesperson.  We have done a couple of events and some PSA’s and there has been growing excitement about the possibilities of exposure and support we at Three Rivers could provide as the show gained in numbers and strength.  Well, though the news of the show is heartbreaking I view it as nothing more than a temporary setback in the work I plan to do with Donate Life America.  For me this is just the beginning of what I hope to be a long relationship.

To be honest I don’t really know what else to say.  I am beginning my process of detachment and will be in touch soon.

All my love,….

 ….

  1. Foyeur, did you ever noticed on the post of August 25th 2008 he included “bro” in the sentence, even before “sis”. I wonder if he has a half brother.

    • Yes Marta I have noticed it, and have been looking everywhere to see any signs of any other mentions of other siblings (stepbrothers or sisters), but thus far I have been unable to find any evidence of any. There might be some, or it might have just been a figure of speech from him. Definitely one of the questions I have on my list to ask him 🙂

      Like

      • And you have a long list of questions, haven’t you? You’re not the only one. I just wished that journalists that have the chance to talk to him would make more smart and funny questions to reach his essence but not invading his private life. I know sometimes is hard to achieve that but they usually never even try it.

        • They obvilously do not have the same passion and knowledge of the “subject” as us. 🙂
They normally just focus on the project he is promoting at the time, and most probably have some standerd things to ask.
Would love to whisper some questions to ask, in one of their ears one day… 😀

        • One thing I forgot to mention, is that bro can also be for brother in-law. I do not really have reliable sources on it, but I think his sister only got married about 2 years ago and had a baby last year. But you never know, maybe he was referring that brother in-law, then already.

          • It’s possible but i don’t think so because usually you mention first who you love the most and in my mind i never considered to talk or write my sister-in-law before than my brother or even my grandparents. That’s why i think he can have a stepbrother.

once again I am very late to the party………lol!
The term ‘Bro’ is not only short for Brother/Brother in law, but can be a reference to a male friend in slang culture.
No Myspace doesn’t exist in its original form, which used to be for music, bands, artists in general, and since Facebook took ownership of most of the modern social media platforms, I doubt it will ever make an appearance again which is really sad as I loved Myspace, and followed a lot of really good bands on there, bands that I am sure Alex himself would love as we have similar tastes in music. x

I never knew Alex was once so reachable to his fans. He even mentions he talked individually with some of the fans and answered their emails. I wonder what happened for him to change his relationship with the fans so much. I mean he doesn’t have any social media that we know of now, so no one can actually talk to him. Why do you think that is? He seems a lot more distant now. I mean I get that he’s not into social media, but he could still have a personal blog or website up and write these type of posts every once in a while. Wouldn’t that be nice? I guess what I’m trying to say is that I don’t understand this change. I was okay with him not being reachable at all before I knew he actually had a MySpace where he talked with the fans. Knowing that now kind of changes my perspective because it’s one thing to think he has always been unreachable, and a completely different story to know he was once in touch with the fans but changed in the meantime. Could it be because of the fact that he’s older now and doesn’t have the same patience? He’s not busier, that’s for sure. Anyway, if I could ask him one thing, it would be: What changed, Alex?

    Like

    • My guess would be that it was a lot easier when the fanbase was not that big yet. But can you imagine how overwhelming it gets when hundreds of thousands of people want to have a piece of you?
And then also, some fans do not have boundaries. I have seen that from some of the communication we get, when people think we are actually Alex and write to us. It gets invasive and rude, and no one should subject themselves to that kind of energy. (I have a feeling that, that also happened to him in those days as well)

You say: “He’s not busier, that’s for sure.” And I have to disagree there. When he had the Myspace account, he did not have a family and a big part of that time he was unemployed and did not have much to do.
Family and his time with them is so much more important than overbearing fans.
And he might not have been busy the past year, but the 10 years before that he was overwhelmed in his work on H50. That you can hear from all interviews.
So I can easily understand why he has no interest in it and support him 100% in his choice to avoid social media.
I know how much time and effort goes into a website and blog – and for him in his life where he is now, there is no reason why he should do it.
