240 Days of #AlexOLoughlin as #H50 Steve McGarrett (Part 9)

Before we start today’s post, just a reminder – we are not Alex or connected to him in any personal way. Any other pages that try to tell you that they are Alex (or part of his team) who wants to connect with fans, are scammer pages, trying to con you and get money from you. Fan Pages (like us) that are run by real fans, share Alex freely without any promises of direct contact with him.

I know most of you get tired to hear this all again and again, but so many still don’t seem to know it ……. 😦

AND

We have a page on our blog with a summary of links to all of Alex’s public activities since the end of Hawaii Five-0. If you are wondering what he is up to, read the posts about his thoughts and activities provided in the links on that page.

You can get the links here:

#AlexOLoughlin Diary (# 7): Beyond #H50 (April 2020 – ….. )

We all have to rely on the goodwill of those who meet Alex and then share their stories and post their pictures of him. Nobody can manufacture news and pictures when there are not any to share. And it will be ridiculous to repeatedly share the latest picture until the next new one is shared ……

For news about Alex’s next career move, we will all have to wait for any sort of official announcement. And we will of course share that as soon as any such news comes to light.

******

But let us continue sharing some of our social media posts of the past week.

Remembering the 240 episodes of Hawaii Five-0 by sharing a picture from each episode together with some thoughts shared by Alex and others at the time and over the years ……

“I think the moments, the episodes like 3:20, I think it was, which is the episode where McGarrett goes back to Korea, a big flashback episode. And his SEAL buddy gets killed, that sort of stuff is fantastic for me to do.

It feel like in some way a departure away from the sort of daily grind of formula television and it’s all based on character. I’m never gonna not want to do that, I’m always gonna wanna do characters. It’s just my nature, that’s why I’m an actor.

So any time they let me do those things, stuff with my family, with McGarrett’s family is always fine. But there is also those moments along the way, the ones that really sort of shine for me and help get through the rest to the next moment like that.” – Alex O’Loughlin, Answering fan questions 2013

I have a new baby. His name is Lion. He’s six months old. He’s the best. He’s very sort of measured. My big boy Saxon is kind of pretty rowdy. He’ll be 16 in July. And he is huge. He’s like six-foot. It’s terrifying.”Alex O’Loughlin on Ellen, May 2013

  • There was a shift in Alex’s attitude towards his kids’ privacy during this time. Not only did he allow the use of this picture of Saxon in Hawaii Five-0, but he also shared pictures of baby Lion with Ellen on her show during this time.

“Well, I have a really great job. I have a lot of fun. I get to tell stories, which is what I love to do most, I get to work with a great group of guys, and I get to do fun “boy stuff” and play with guns. The most rewarding thing about my job, though, is being able to reach people in a way that’s outside of the industry.

If I do a bunch of work and become a person of public interest on some level then I can hopefully use that to generate care in other areas that might be based in community service or philanthropy. I think that’s the most important part of my job as an actor. It’s a way I get to give back.”  – Alex O’Loughlin, Kapi’o News Magazine, Dec 2012

“I’m always excited for viewers to tune in and see new “Five-0.” New “Five-0″ is always new cool stuff. Gadgets, guns, cars, action, big waves …

There’s also a lot of great character stuff going on with (McGarrett’s) mom, Danno’s daughter and ex … I love that it’s not just procedural.”-  Alex O’Loughlin, Kapi’o News Magazine, Dec 2012

“It’s very different here from anywhere else in the world. There’s a lot of power here, a lot of mana*, and a lot of history. There’s also a lot of spiritual activity. You have to come and experience it. All that great stuff is the background of this TV show.

Hawaii plays the fifth and probably the most important character of the task force. It’s me Danno, Kono, Chin and Hawaii. We couldn’t do it anywhere else.”-  Alex O’Loughlin, Kapi’o News Magazine, Dec 2012

“I’m stoked, we got another great season on TV. I’ve never been this deep into a TV show before. I’ve never been to the fourth season as the lead of a show. It’s kind of … it’s crazy to me. Not that it’s ……. Experiencing this objectively is amazing.

So every new year that comes along I don’t take any of it for granted. I’m extremely grateful. I’m just as excited as you guys to see what is going to happen. I feel like a fan, more than the guy in the thing. So I am like, what is happening?” Alex O’Loughlin, Blessing Ceremony, 10 July 2013

Love to read his comment, although it’s a while ago when he said this, it feels very much like today.

So true. And these ones helped me to get through the tedious Dannoyance and the mediocre episodes. These are the ones on my re-watch list.
And now let’s appreciate the PoP in the first pic before realising how good he looks in no blue (#7). And don’t get me started on these EYES!

I enjoyed reading about Alex’s time on Hawaii Five O. Although I miss him and the other cast members I respect his waiting to see what he will do next and I will be here waiting to see what he does. I respect him as an Actor and as the character Steve Mcgarrett and he will always be my best and Sexiest Man in
    America.

    • We are still here as long as we still have readers 🙂 I also hope to see Alex in front of the camera. Keeping fingers crossed for some news in the near future.

    • Not speaking for Paula and FOYeur here, but I don’t need fortitude for being here or being an AOL fan.
This site’s still here, still awesome. Alex is still there, still the same awesome guy, with some great words, interviews, podcasts. Maybe writing, maybe choosing wisely, and being busy getting his black belt. So it’s easy. The ladies are still there, Alex is still there. And we too. It’s that simple.

        • It will happen one day, that I am sure.
I just found your choice of the word “fortitude” a little bit out of place, simply wrong, because that is not what being a fan is about.
And I don’t know if you stayed on track with all things Alex, Grace, but FOYeur even posted a link about what happened in the AOL universe in this post.
I would love for you to come back to the Alex universe, but fortitude shouldn’t be the motor, just fun, respect and appreciation of his talent and character. 😃

leiCa, you’re really the example of what a perfect fan must be.

Not my case. Today, I’d like to tell Alex that I hate him, and that my hatred is extremely wide, long, and deep. When I think of him and of his silence, which is too many times a day for my peace of mind, incandescent lava starts running through my veins. I’m building an active volcano of pharaonic proportions inside me, and he will be held responsible for the death toll. Spoiler: the first plumes of smoke are starting to emanate from my nostrils.

How dare he say: “My fans are the best.” in 2012 and then, 10 years later, leave them pitilessly, cruelly, in a bottomless well of darkness and misery!

How dare he use his many artist talents and gorgeous looks to lure us into a state of unconditional adoration, and when we are all craving for a long due new movie or TV show, say “In reality, I thought I was an actor doing jiu-jitsu, but in reality, I’m a jiu-jitsu man who did acting”. Why the ominous, terrible, use of the past tense in ‘I’m a jiu-jitsu man who DID acting”? Esp. when he once said “I’m always gonna wanna do characters. It’s just my nature, that’s why I’m an actor”. We believed you, Alex, we believed you!

How dare he entice us to believe he is ready to work again by signing with Atlas Artists and then keep us in a sepulchral silence?

No great man has ever had a verb created after their feat. I mean, I don’t purchase gutemberged paper when I buy a book, I don’t say my apple newtons to the groud when I drop it, nor do I edison my home when I arrive at night. Yet he is worthy of a new verb: the verb TO LOTE. It means to LOve and haTE on a 50/50 ratio. For ex: I will lote Alex until he gives an interview and let us know what he plans to do.

Because you see, even if I hate him for the reasons stated above, I still have a soft spot for him, kind-hearted, upright, talented, and adorable man. Grrrr!

(BTW, one can also lote other people besides Alex. Examples: I lote hubby on Mondays when he comes home from the gym all sweaty and smelly and wants to hug me. Or: My sister is lotable. I’ve explained her a zillion times that she needs to plug her printer before calling the IT man yet again.)

            • LOL, Cassiopeia, you’re cracking me up. But I hope VolcanoCassio won’t crack. At least I don’t want to be in close range when it erupts. In German we say “Someone is dancing on a vulcano” when they are taking a risk, something like Russian Roulette. But I don’t know if Alex is a good dancer. I think he is because Hula Hoop… and he has reflexes because Jiu Jitsu…
(And, btw, thank you for teaching me a new English word. Sepulchral. Now I am thinking of Alex reading a Poe book with a sepulchral voice…. Oy…. “Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore…” “Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing…”)
Don’t fear, him acting won’t be Nevermore. 🦔<- here you have a cute little hedgehog because I couldn't find a raven.

That’s it, of course! Alex is busy with his new movie, a musical comedy, and he’s presently rehearsing the choreographies. He was cast for the role because of his skills with the hula hoop and his jiu-jitsu reflexes. Also, for his strength. After seeing him lifting Wo Fat up to the ceiling prior to killing him, they had no doubt he could lift a ballerina, even if she was a little overweight. Just think of it! Alex will be the new Baryshnikov!

On the other hand, he might be preparing a series of audiobooks, as this option gives him the opportunity to “act” without moving from home. And certainly, Poe would be the right choice should Alex want to read with a sepulchral, yet velvety, voice.

And don’t you dare thank me for a single word when you made me discover Rainer Maria Rilke’s “The Panther”!

            • LOL volcano Cassiopea 1000. Good one. I hate to admit it but I´m with you. He doesn´t owe us anything and he has to do what he feels is right for him but I too would like to know what we are dealing with. That ” “In reality, I thought I was an actor doing jiu-jitsu, but in reality, I’m a jiu-jitsu man who did acting” caused an odd feeling on me. Fine, he doesn´t do acting at the moment. So that “did” makes sense. But does he still define himself as an actor – means: is he still passionate about acting? If he still is we will see him again because he will push through all obstacles he has to face. We know, what he is capable of as an artist. If he is not 100% into acting anymore he probably won´t come back. People change. Their passions change. Did his passion change?

Did his passion change? A great question indeed! And of course, as you say, he doesn’t own us anything. He doesn’t have to resume his artist career to please us if he has a new passion. But if this is the case, I wish he said goodbye to us. At least we’d know where we stand.

Well, until we know for a fact he’s not coming back, I’ll be here, loyally waiting for him, feeding on these memories FOYeur and Paula are so generously offering us, and keeping a bottle of champagne in my fridge to celebrate when we know… if he announces…
