“At the end of the day, I’m either an asset or a liability. I’m either making money or I’m not. You can’t take it personally. That’s a mistake a lot of young actors make when they come to Hollywood.”Alex O’Loughlin, GQ Australia, Nov 2011

Picture From #HawaiiFive0 Episode 2:18. Because of Alex’s absence in Episode 2:21 there is no footage of him that would have been featured today for day number 45.

PS. I am always amazed at how fans can’t see how emaciated and sick Alex looked during this time……. many just kind of mindlessly announce how awesome he looks on the pictures!

He had a very skinny face and red eyes at the time. When he was adicted on painkillers he had a puffed up face. Poor Alex so hurt all for the love of the show and his job 👏🤙Thank you Alex for the 10 seasons of a great show.

I always wonder why no one ever commented on it as well. I thought I was going crazy. He looked very thin and tired.
I’m happy he is much better now and achieving his goals.
Hope to see him in a new movie or show sooooon…..

    • I was not a fan of H5O at that time but I read what happened and also watched the episodes which were taken at that time. I also read that there had been many many fans trying to show their suppport to Alex and also those “nice” comments by some “fans” and press. So there must have been communication. ?.
But of course, there are always those rocket scientists who comment with all sorts of ❤ 🥰😍🤩 or whatever without reading or really watching. Thinking about that time makes me very sad and angry. Sad because Alex had to go through that difficult situation and angry because he was attacked by people and not suffiently backed and supported in that situation by the people in charge. It was good to read that CBS told what really happened and not just wrote that he was overworked. Credit for someone who deserved credit for his hard work and dedication. 👍
It was good to see him come back in good health and I´m glad he did what was the best for him this time. Good!

What I don’t understand is this: if you’re a fan, you worry about the health of your artist and you support him or her. If you’re not and you don’t care, why waste your time with venomous attacks? Even in the IDMb, which is supposed to be a serious data base, it says he missed two epis to undergo rehab “allegedly” due to an excess of pain killers. Why “allegedly”? How harmful can a single word be!

        • I totally agree with you. He was open about it. These so called media outlets want to do nothing but make money, so they will say anything to get people talking.
His real fans know the truth and support(ed) him no matter what!

        • I think, “allegedly” because of one (I won´t write the word I´d like to write) so called “journalist” wrote, he was full of cocaine at that time which is an insult and defamation and as we all know, not true at all. And “excess”??? 🤬🤮 Never heard about strong painkillers which make you almost immediatelly addicted and you can´t just stop taking them because it can cause dangerous medical situations like heart attacks, strokes… so you need medical supervision to get slowly off it??? Take a look at a hospital´s pain unit! 😠
As I wrote: I read a lot of stuff which was written at that time and some of it was downright unfair, untrue and a damn shame!
And yes, I agree: He was very open about it and honest as usual and I like, respect and admire him for his honesty. Nothing to be ashamed of. He can be proud of the hard work he did and how he dealt with that probably difficult situation. Period!

Some ‘media’ outlets want to believe the worst about people just to be nasty, and raise some controversy. They do so with nothing to back up their claims. They are jerks!! I applaud Alex for how he handled his situation, and love him even more!!

  3. Although I love epi 2.16 it is always hard to watch.
But what a joy 2.22 was! Fit and healthy!
    >>…. many just kind of mindlessly announce how awesome he looks on the pictures!<< Yes! It is unbelievable.
(Same goes for these 'McGarrett😍' comments under pictures of Alex or one of his other roles. Drives me crazy. Ugh. Disrespectful, flippant, superficial.)

    • I know what you are saying. I’ve watched those episodes and it was heartbreaking to see him that way, but the good news is that he is healthy and happy. I admire him for being open and honest. He is an inspiration to all of us!! ❤️❤️

I agree with your comments about Alex’s health. As much as I appreciate his commitment to his craft, I want Alex to be healthy.

I have even more respect for Alex for all he has gone thru. Being in pain and still working. Takes courage and you have all that. Love you. Miss you on Hawaii Five O but I understand why you left. Much respect and Love.

FOYeur, what a good idea to have included faded pics for the two “days” Alex was absent. You have solved the problem, and in fact, it was exactly that. Alex was not there, but his shadow pervaded the two painful epis.

On another note. His comment ‘How am I going to make it out of TV alive?’ is interesting. He said it in 2011, during S2. Did he actually made it out alive after S10, I wonder?

    • I know what you are saying. When you watch the black belt video and Renzo Gracie is quoting Alex ** “In reality, I thought I was an actor who did jiu-jitsu, but in reality, I’m a jiu-jitsu man who did acting”. ** it makes me think he is done with acting. I believe he will return since he signed with Atlas Artists back in April of this year. 🙏🙏

      • I can´t read his mind but learning more and more about him, I think, that quote makes sense: There are actors who do everything for their career and have no probleme to sell themselves no matter how. What I always read and heard when I read or listen to Alex´s interviews is that he has a strong sense for integrity, honesty and dignity which certainly makes working in Hollywood not easier for him. I think, he is not that “typical” Hollywood actor. F.e. his honesty certainly causes him trouble in a world of make believe which is all tinsel and glitter. (How easy had it been f.e. to not tell people that he had to book into rehab.)
I hope, he will continue to work as an actor, but hopefully he will be to work on his own terms.

I had completely forgotten about that quote of Alex’s, and I won’t thank you for reminding me about it 😂! Let’s rather remember with hope he signed with Atlas Artists a few months ago!
