Congratulation To #AlexOLoughlin on Receiving his #BJJ #Blackbelt!!

Alex O’Loughlin, in excellent physical shape, received his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt from Renzo Gracie last night in Las Vegas.

Thank you to Mike Calimbas for posting the footage!

We will add more detail about it later when we have more information ……

And we will also add the transcript for his speech when we have had time to do it.

  4. Oh this is awesome, he got his black belt pretty fast even with the corona hiatus.
And I hope this shuts the wannabe physicians up.

    • True. But Alex is an amazing human being. He had a lot to take and is still fighting and being fit where other people would have given in already. And he is such a good, humble man and a role model, too. At least, he is one for me. But don´t come too close to him: He doesn´t bite, but he hits. 😀 ❤

      • It’s the first time I see him getting teary eyed. You feel how much this means to him.
With shut up I was referring to those who after the latest pic with Egan ‘analyzed’ it and were sure they found out he’s no longer fit and even sick. Just because of one photo taken in a weird angle. And they weren’t shy spreading their ‘wisdom’ everywhere. Ugh. Idiots.

Congratulations to Alex indeed, it is a huge achievement. And yes he is a role model in more than one way, he even convinced me to become an organ donor. People seem to like him wherever he goes, just positive comments all the time. Proud of you, always.

        • Agreed. And he made a huge impact by doing that role in the real world. So it´s not true that actors can´t “cure cancer”.
I´m looking forward to see what´s next for him. He is a wondeful actor who proved that he can portray a lot of different characters and own them. He can show all kinds of looks. He is very obviously very fit and he looks great. And he is a a good, good person on and off set. Oh yeah: And he is much more than “”just” an action hero. Did I forget something?
I feel, that we who are allowed to witness a part of his journey can be proud of him indeed even though we don´t know him in person. And reading about where he came from as you can read on this blog and see how he has grown as a person and an artist is just awesome.

So that’s what he has been doing all this time, working for his black belt! I know it’s stupid of me as I don’t know him personally, but I’m very proud of and happy for him! Congrats, Alex!

Congratulations to Alex! What a great accomplishment. In previous posts I’ve listened and read so far – thanks FOYeur and Paula 😊 – his progression, and personal meaning behind BJJ come through. Knowing it’s a work in progress can be tough, with injuries and other setbacks/challenges he had or still has (who knows the answer). Somehow Alex hits a sensitive string there, and recognize myself in this somehow. He’s genuine yet humble and also vulnerable, what I seriously admire about his speech. Last but not least I want to say, that I find him both encouraging and inspiring because of this 💪

Anyway, way to go Alex!! That’s an incredible journey. It’s never too late to better than you are today. That’s my motto. ❤

Awesome, Alex! Congratulations! You accomplished this amazing feat in record time. I think it took Scott 25 years to get his black belt.

    We miss you!

    • Getting a black belt after 10 years (actually less because of the corona break) is pretty impressive = according to my husband. I’ve no idea about this stuff.
But Renzo said Alex thought he is an actor doing BJJ, yet he is a Jiu Jitsu man doing acting. I think this describes his dedication to BJJ.

      • Maybe also because of Alex´s mindset which you can hear a part of in his BJJ Inferno Cast interview and of course when you hear how he carries himself (f.e. all those awesome comments about him). I have no idea about BJJ but hearing him talk about it I think, it´s not only about fighting skills. It seems to be much more profound and probably a contradiction to the superficial world of Hollywood. That´s of course only my uninformed guess.
