“I just couldn’t ask for anything more than what Alex brings to the table for “Steve”.
When you have an actor who can play the comedy, play the action, play the heart, it just gives the freedom to fully explore a complicated character like McGarrett. It allows me to push further than I ever thought I could with that character, and I can’t imagine being able to do that with anyone but Alex.” Peter Lenkov (MyTake on .. – Oct 2012)

This past week is marked by the very sad historical event of the passing of the British Monarch, Queen Elizabeth II.

Indeed the end of a remarkable reign and an extraordinary life!

Our condolences to her family and those affected by her death.

I don’t believe there’s anyone in the world who doesn’t feel a thing by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth II. I feel for her family 🙏

Thank you for this post, Foyeur. I love to see these quotes from Alex again. It reminds me of everything he gave to HF-O. Also the comments from others, as they relate to Alex.

The passing of Queen Elizabeth is a loss to all of us who admired and respected her for showing us that wisdom, compassion and elegance of manner are traits to be embraced by peoples of every nation. We join with our friends in Great Britain in mourning their great loss.
      May she rest in peace

  4. My heartfelt condolences to the passing of a great woman and icon. I grew up with her always being around and it´s sad to see an extraordinary life and an institution comming to an end.

Thanks for sharing that post and comments included. I read through your post and had kind of an ambivalent good and odd feeling. Yes, P.L. was totally right with his comment. Alex brought everything you can wish for to the table on and off screen (which included f.e, also his PR work and the way he carried himself off screen) in H5O and was to a large extend responsible for the success of that great show. And yes, I think, he maintained the truth and integrity in the character and the work and if he didn´t, it was because he was not able to do so because it was taken out of his hands. You can hear so often how he did what he possibly could do.
That comment about tv and ratings made me kind of shiver because we all know what Alex did to make a great show – and he did make a wonderful show. But he paied a price and I as a fan/follower of him and someone who likes him and being also a fan and avid viewer of H5O don´t want that! A show is not worth it and it seems to show how Hollywood often works. I must admit, I was not aware of that.
I wish for that awesome man a good and happy life with his family and since I think, he has a lot to bring to the table as actor, director and maybe writer, I hope, we will see him again. And if he wants to go on with his career I too hope, he can. But on his own terms.

After seeing all these beautiful pictures, I’ll definitely be watching some of my recorded episodes. With many new movies coming out lately I really wish we could read something about plans for Alex. Miss him like family.

  6. Thank you for this article

  7. Great, that you post these quotes here for everyone to see who is not on Instagram. Always awesome reading what others have to say about Alex without being ‘forced’ to do so. And the words of the man himself always show his nature and ethic. Lenkov’s words are so true, sad that he obviously forgot that at the end thinking 5-0 could go on without Alex.
Love your tribute to Queen Elizabeth. I saw her several times in my hometown when she visited the British Rhine Army there. I once talked to her husband, he was one of a kind I can tell you that. Funny and didn’t care about protocol at all. 😉

I say that Alex has shown hard work and integrity in his acting and I appreciate this article for showing that. No one plays Steve McGarrett better than him and that’s why I love him and this character that he plays. He makes me believe him as Steve.

It feels strange to think that Elizabeth II is no longer with us. This amazing woman was already the Queen of England when I was born, and it will take me some time to assimilate that it is King Charles who reigns over Great Britain now. A page of History has been turned with her passing away. My condolences to her family.

On a lighter note, this 2nd part of this trip in H5O memories is delightful. I love it when fellow actors praise Alex. I particularly love Will Yun Lee’s comment: “Alex is a great human being with an incredible work ethic.” A neat description of Alex in very few words!

I love PL’s comment too. Of course, he said that back in 2012, at the beginning of the show, when he himself was deeply involved with H5O and fed Steve on juicy, well written stories Alex could sink his teeth into. Afterwards, when his attention was focused on Magnum and MacGyver, Alex started to fade away for him. There was no need for him to bother since he could simply rely on Alex to carry the weight of the show. But this is ancient history now. Anyway, the comment leaves a good taste in my mouth.

  10. Her Majesty was a true inspiration. There will never be another like her. May we use her life as way to live better.
