It was great to see some new pictures of Alex posted yesterday, only 2 months after we saw him very slim and trim and relaxed on holiday in Europe.
As we expected would happen, Alex, this week attended his friend and trainer, Egan Inoue’s induction into the Hawaiian Sports Hall of Fame.

It was an honor for me and @stephmurata to be at @eganinoue induction into the Hawaii Sports Hall of Fame last night👍 so proud of him and everything he’s accomplished in life! #ironsharpensiron
- Some words from Alex about Egan.
“I met Egan when I first moved out to Hawaii to do Hawaii Five-0. My co-star, Scott Caan, a BJJ brown belt (at the time) spoke very highly of him, telling me that Egan’s coaching was world class.
It wasn’t long before I realized everything this guy did was world-class….no instructor has ever given me more skills or honed my techniques like he has.
Whether you goal is to get fit and change your body and lifestyle, learn to defend yourself, or become a professional athlete, Egan Inoue has the capacity to help you make that transformation.””
– Alex O’LoughlinBJJ Brown Belt
According to many, it has been long overdue for Egan Inoue to be inducted into the Hawaiian Sports Hall of Fame. And it happened in 2020 already – although with all the Covid restrictions the event was postponed from May 2020 until now.
- The announcement of it back in 2020:
“The 2020 Induction Class covers a wide variety of pursuits, exemplifying Hawai‘i’s unique and profound impact on the sports world,”
said Dr. Larry Price, Hawai‘i Sports Hall of Fame’s Chairman of the Board.
“It is our honor and privilege to welcome Ben Aipa, Egan Inoue, and Roland Leong to the Hawai‘i Sports Hall of Fame family.”
These three inductees will bring the total number of Hawai‘i Sports Hall of Fame Members to 158.
Congratulations our Class of 2020 Inductees:
Ben Aipa — Contributor, Surfing
Egan Inoue — World Champion, Racquetball
Roland Leong — Contributor, Auto Racing
They write about Egan:
Egan InoueRACQUETBALL
Egan Inoue is an entrepreneur. He owns a fitness company, with three gyms on O‘ahu, as well as a cryotherapy business. Inoue is also an author and a motivational speaker, who used to be a mixed martial arts fighter, who before that was the first non-Brazilian to win a Brazilian JiuJitsu world title. However, before any of that, the multi-talented and multi-faceted Inoue was a two-time world champion in racquetball.
Inoue discovered racquetball as a 16 year-old, becoming Hawai‘i state champ by the time he graduated from high school in 1983. Just three years later, he won the men’s singles title at the International Racquetball Federation (IRF) World Championships in Orlando Florida. A year later, he won the men’s singles title at the 1987 Pan American Championships. Inoue won his second world title in in Caracas, Venezuela in 1990, the same year he stated his own racquet company, E-force, which quickly grew to be one of the leading racquetball manufacturing companies in the world.
In 1993, Inoue suffered a serious knee injury, which forced him to retire from racquetball but left him plenty of time to take up other pursuits.
Went on to become the first non-Brazilian to win a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championship (twice) & and then was five time MMA title holder.
Egan was already inducted into the International Racquetball Hall of Fame in 2012, although he only got the news of it 8 years later in 2020.
- Congressman Ed Case also attended the event and he posted some pictures:
In the presence of legends! Honored to join so many in celebrating the induction into our Hawai’i Sports Hall of Fame of Ben Aipa (surfing), Egan Inoue (racquetball), Roland Leong (auto racing), Tita Ahuna (volleyball), and Larry Price (contributor). Mahalo for your achievements and for giving us all such pride and inspiration.
- Some words from Scott Caan about Egan:
I had one very specific goal when I first got to Hawaii. I needed to find someone to train with. A purple belt at the time and just coming back from an ACL surgery, I met Egan. We trained, and immediately, I knew I had not only found what I was looking for but also a coach. With all my injuries, he taught me how to relax and still train as hard and intense as I wanted while still keeping my body safe. He took everything I had previously learned and improved on it with his knowledge and style BJJ. I know it sounds normal or what a coach is supposed to do, but it’s just not that simple. It’s very difficult for an instructor taking a student who has been training for several years and continue forward on that same path without insisting the student start fresh. He improved my game. He taught me a lot on and off the mat. He’s a true friend and one of the most insane athletes I’ve ever met. I have been training BJJ for over 15 years and I had two goals. 1. to receive my black belt and keep training. 2. To be able to pass Egan’s guard. I think something like 1 in 100 people taking BJJ will ever end up getting a black belt. Between the two goals I’ve set for myself the latter seems way less probable.

- Egan was already inducted into the International Racquetball Hall of Fame in 2012, although he only got the news of it 8 years later in 2020.

What a nice surprise to wake up this morning and see a ‘new’ picture of Alex. He does indeed look well rested and it is so great to see him. He is a little grayer these days, but still one gorgeous man! We have all missed him. Thank you for posting this FOYEUR!

I guess that is like the new look or style lately from guys mid 40`s, late 40 early 50`s as well. The silver fox hairstyle. A mix between of gray hair and black plus the beard.

Coingratulations to Egan Inoue and thank you to those who shared the event. 🙂
Good to see Alex again having a good time with friends. 🙂 First glimpse: “Who is this?” 🤔😯 Second glimpse: Okayyy. Looks different, but why not? 🙂 Third glimpse: Like it! 😊 Natural look and no cap this time. Good! 👍
Wish you all the best, Alex. Enjoy your life. Hope to see you on screen again and/or as director/writer one day.

I asked the same thing like you: Who is this guy? I did not really recognize Alex with gray hair, hehe!!

Firstly I love seeing Alex! He looks great! He’s grayer but handsome as hell!♥️ It’s no surprise that he would be there for a friend or a special cause near and dear to him and esp for Egan who has been a special force in his life.
This was nice to see and seeing Alex these days is certainly a special treat.♥️ Thanks much FOYeur.😊

Congrats to Egan. Alex is rocking it as a silver fox! So glad he seems happy and relaxed as an ordinary citizen, but of course he will never be ordinary to his fans!

Wow, Alex is letting himself go grey. He was dying his hair the last few seasons of Five-0 which is why it kept changing colors, from ash dark brown to red tints. He had some grey hair in 2010. Going grey very young.
Where are you Alex? We miss you. The world would love to see you onscreen again, large or small.
Wonderful words from Scott. Maybe Alex will guest star on Scott’s new series?!!! Hope springs eternal.

I doubt if he only dyed his hair in the final seasons, it was pretty grey in the beginning already – as you can see in 2012

Some guys get grayish very young others are late bloomers. I guess is genetic or something
LikeLiked by 2 people
Yes, and Alex has been turning grey for more than 10 years already, since his mid-30s.
So my guess is that they dyed his hair since the early days of H50.
And yes genetic, just like some guys losing their hair early on, etc.

I gave it some thought whether to respond or not. From personal experience as a woman – who’s nearly 30 – I’m a mix from a late bloomer and early bird, and totally fine with this. As I – a natural dark blonde – slowly turned grey at nearly 22. From what I remember I was a little upset at first, but embraced this very soon. It doesn’t bother me at all, but most of all won’t let me define by it. My life has been different – than most people – since my birth, and will continue the rest of my life. I’m dealing with factors – some are genetic and others aren’t- and have a influence, on me as a person too. Where others don’t have a clue, or give a second thought about it. Life comes on it’s own terms. Don’t let other people prejudge to much. Embrace, accept, respect one other instead. Don’t let someone or something define you, as everyone has and follows their own path, and their own story to tell. Whether you’re famous or not.
Thank you FOYeur for the post. To read this was amazing and informative at the same time. Congratulations to Egan!
In my opinion Alex looks really good his natural gray hair 😊

Such a good comment. ❤ Thank you and all the best to you!
Generally speaking and not meant as a comment to the last pictures: I follow Alex´s career and doings for some time now and I saw lots of photoshoots and pictures of him. Some I liked, some I didn´t like that much. It´s not important. He is a man who can show a lot of different looks and own a lot of different roles and characters. He is very versatile. But he can´t please everybody and shouldn´t try because by trying to please everybody he would loose himself and very likely go crazy. He is who he is and he looks how he wants to look like. It´s good. He obviously decided to quit that "trying to please everybody" game and just be himself. 👍 We all know, he is a good, intelligent, awesome person with many talents to bring to the table. That´s all we need to know. Everything else is shallow and illusion.

Although I haven’t been following Alex for that long. There are certain things in your comment I totally agree with.

Surprise, but I actually disagree with your whole comment.. No, I’m joking too 😉
I’ll try to respond more often, but I’m not really used to this. Also by choice as I’m easily overstimulated, it’s harder to keep comments both short and clear, because I have PDD-NOS a light form of autism. For me it means I’m more sensitive to what and how words come across. And also to understand the difference between main + side issues. On top of this my native language is Dutch. There are quite some things to take into account, and costs me a lot of energy.
Paula and FOYeur my apologies for this reaction, and hope you don’t mark this as spam. As I’m very open and honest about this offline.

There is nothing wrong with your comment. 🙂
Please always feel free to speak your mind. And some banter is also good.
Humour is always good – I see you also have a good sense of humour.

It´s fine and thank you for telling. Just feel free to join in now and then if you feel like posting. I like your comments. And if you feel anything is not good, please tell, o.k..? We are usually a nice bunch of people and we all have our “quirks” 😉 🙂 . Writing on the internet is not easy anyway because you can´t use facial expression, voice … for communication so things are misunderstood easily sometimes. And btw. most people here are not native English speakers. I´m from Germany.
Have a good night and maybe read you again sometime.

Hi Madeline,
Thank you for commenting.
Some members of my family also started turning grey in their early 20’s. I myself made it to my 30’s, but did not really know it because I was colouring my hair in any case. Then one day I stopped and fully embraced the beauty of my natural grey-turning hair. But the key to it all I realised, was to use the correct shampoo and conditioner for grey hair, otherwise, it can look dull. And I LOVE my hair!

I could not agree more with those wonderfully wise words from you!!

👏👏🤙🤙 Egan, impresive list of things he did, I missed guest star (twice?) in H5O 😁
Good to see Alex in good health supporting his friend.
The grey hair and beard looks good on him as well as his shirt. He is just beautiful.
Hope to see him soon on the big screen or in a tv show just as he looks now, greyish. Beautiful.

That is the new guys hairstyle these days from mide 40`s up guys. Some are greyish that others. The silverfox hairstyle.(not all gray not all black, a combination of both and also add the beard to it as well). There are many actors or regular men who pull this hairstyle. Some look very attractive others not so much. I like also an actor , who is very good looking, from another current TV cop procedural show, who also pulls off that style, silverfox and he is 50 yrs.

Good to see Alex again in real time, and happy with his friends! As to his white hair, who cares? He’s still our same Alex. Nothing has changed.
Of course, there are many reasons to explain why his hair is now white:
1. He discovered this site by chance, and he was shocked to the chore at realizing how much we love him, even after he has been missing for so many months. By comment #18, his hair had turned white from the sudden and deep emotion. Poor Alex, as if we were going to forget you after a mere eternity!
2. We know that when he gets a new role, Alex works very seriously to immerse himself into the new character. Saxon is going to be a father (technically he can), so Alex is preparing to be the perfect granddad, white hair and beard included. Just let’s hope he doesn’t have a granddaughter, or we’ll never see him again other than as a gaga granddad.
3. He is presently flying to LA to start shooting a comedy where he stars as a silver fox who is so hot, attractive, and appealing, that he has no end of problems getting rid of the horde of young, beautiful women that want to marry him. Title of the movie: “Silver Fox on the Run”.
4. He is deep into the writing of a long novel, and he has let his hair go white to look like Victor Hugo or Mark Twain, as looking like a great writer helps him to write like a great writer. What, we all need a model writer to give us inspiration to write like a good writer, right? (Maybe I should find one for myself…).
5. He went to his hairdresser for a trimming one morning and said “G’day, mate, y’know what? I’m done with dying my hair. It’s expensive, and I spend so much time in the sea under the sun that I need to visit you constantly if I don’t want to look like a circus freak, so let it white. What the hell! If they (Editor’s note: TPTB) want me, they’ll take me with white hair. Y’know, what you see is what you get and all that. Besides, my fans are loyal and won’t let me down for a matter of hair color.” Of course not, Alex, we’ll love you with white hair, or with a drunk velociraptor tattooed on your stomach, or with your fingernails painted in black and green like a kiwi, or with whatever you want to do. Here we are, waiting for you.

LOVE all your ideas to explain Alex’ grey hair! Funny!. I agree with FOYeur, too, Alex was dying his hair during the whole show.
His hair was already beginning to show grey when he did PR for the Back Up Plan with Jennifer in 2010. I remember looking at him in photos from different events at the time. I had a friend who started to go grey in his 20’s.
What are you doing, Alex? We miss you!!
