Wow, I did not think it would be so difficult to decide on which pictures to use here, but there are of course thousands to choose from.

One of my aims for doing this small study, has been to illustrate how different situations, personal happiness at the time, hairstyle and length, beard length, bodyweight, lighting, etc. can make Alex (and all of us) look one way now and in the next year or situation, younger again. (Look how young Alex looked in 2009 on the set of Criminal Minds after his long rest period) Even some screencaps in movies and TV footage make him look younger one minute and older the next.

We posted this picture on our social media pages during this past week and of course many responded to say that he can’t be 30 years old here, because he looks in his early 20’s.

In the old days we used to label this picture as Jan 2007 because that is the date of the magazine issue, but never knew how old the picture was, until I realised the article gives the date of the picture.

So this is why am I sticking to my story about the date here!

  • The InStyle article actually gives the exact day and place of the picture – Mulholland drive, 6 October 2006
  • And although Alex made a trip, or maybe even more than one, to Hollywood in his early 20’s before studying at NIDA (age 23 – 26), he did not really arrive in LA until the latter part of his 20’s – he was in fact already 28 when he moved to the USA in 2005 and started his life there.

(Picture dated as 1 August 2006 by AOLR

– it would then be of Alex a few weeks before he turned 30)

All this, is one of the reasons why I believe it is important to go back to source material before making captions about dates and ages of pictures by doing guesswork. Chances are you will get it wrong …. we have done it many times over the years and try to avoid it. Rather not write anything than getting it wrong.

And remember articles use old footageand in our case sometimes even newer pictures, than the original article. You cannot actually use the date of an article to date a picture. And if they did not spesifically give the date in the InStyle article, one could have never been sure when it was taken.

So don’t even try unless of course you know the date of a specific photoshoot, event, or date of filming. Or if the picture itself gives you the detail. (see below)

PICTURE EXCLUSIVE BY: © BAUER-GRIFFIN / MATRIXPHOTOS.COM PLEASE CREDIT ALL USES Aussie born actress, Holly Valance goes shopping with in trendy West Hollywood with her boyfriend Alex O’Loughlin. Los Angeles, California. 30 TH SEPTEMBER 2006 JOB: 41945 TEL: +44 845 345 7072 REF: VIC/60930J5

(On this picture Alex is then age 30 – a few days before the InStyle picture was taken. My guess is that he carried a little bit more meat back then, which caused him to look so young during those days at the end of 2006)

And yes, we cut Holly from the picture, because sometime a full picture is not relevant for what it is being used for ….. hopefully she will not be too mad at us for doing so. 😉 😉

Hope you enjoyed our little study!

It is all part of the fun of fangirling.

And as always any study is just an excuse to look at pictures of Alex and enjoy him all over again……

Aloha!

  1. Thanks for doing this for us.
It is very interesting to see when and at what age Alex is in different photos. It’s amazing just how young he looks when given the time to relax and rest before embarking on another project.
It’s a great excuse to drool over pictures of him and as you say, that’s a great reason for doing this study.
Thank you for all that you continue to do for us.
Please continue to stay safe during this time and keep up the great work 🙏 😻🤤

Thank you so much for all of this.
In my opinion he looks gorgeous at any age.
Hope to hear and see something of him soon, maybe in a funny movie.
    Thanks for all the information.

  3. Thank you for putting it all together!
I want to add that his looks change between private Alex, Alex being Alex and character Alex in his roles. That’s so fascinating to witness. Just look at the Alex being Alex Criminal Minds pic. And then remember Vincent. So different.
A lucky friend of mine who met him in Hawaii and saw them filming a scene told me that before the started the filming he was all Alex. Others were focused and kind of absent but he was goofing around, being funny. Than it meant “Action” and in a blink of an eye Alex disappeared and Steve was there. He was no longer Alex. She said it was mind blowing and impressive.

    • Exactly my thoughts. ❤ And I like your friend´s comment! And now, with that new, longer hairstyle and the beard, I think, he looks younger again. But I learnt my lesson to not comment on his looks. 😀 . He is gorgeous no matter how he looks like.
Thank your for putting it all together. And you did illustrate "how different situations, personal happiness at the time, hairstyle and length, beard length, bodyweight, lighting, etc. can make Alex (and all of us) look one way now and in the next year or situation, younger again." . It´s amazing to look through all those pictures and see and observe Alex mature – and I mean it in the nicest possible way. As a fan, you don´t get the chance often to watch someone not only grow as a person but also watch the changes in looks and the development of artistic skills over the years.

Antjekreuz, it was ME who said I would not comment again on Alex’s looks, but oh my God! He is so beautiful, stunning, sublime, magnificent and wonderful that I can’t resist! This visual trip over the years is a feast for the eyes!

In each pic, he looks ten years younger and fitter than when he was ten years younger and fitter!

BTW, I don’t know if you have heard about it, but the AACR (American Association of Capillary Researchers) members have come to the unanimous conclusion that Alex’s graying hair has the perfect amount of black and white strands of hair. No man in his age group has ever achieved such perfection, not to mention the precise location of each one of the white strands, both on head and beard. Not one is out of place, and the end result is of exquisite harmony!

And his eyes! Oh, his eyes! That unique hazelblue color of his is causing havoc among opticians, and the most renowned glass frame designers are fighting to be the lucky one who can hire Alex for their future advertising campaigns to showcase their glass frames. The thing will no longer be a matter of having Dolce & Gabbana or Ray Ban glasses, but of having Alexy glasses!

Of course, you will have read about the upcoming board of directors meeting at the Pantone headquarters. It’s in all international newspapers! It is a matter of making official an issue all the members of the board are already agreed upon, and that is that a new color, color #2162 / Alex Hue, to be exact, must be added to their color guide. This color will be that of Alex’s skin, which is simply flawless: not too pale, not too tanned, not at all blotchy. A great addition indeed, that will be highly appreciated by all photoshoppers, illustrators, fashion catalog layout editors, make up manufacturers from Dior to Maybelline, and the like, or so say the experts.

Though what excites me most is the soul searching debate Renaissance scholars from all over the world are currently deep into: should the statue of the David of Michelangelo be removed from the Galleria dell’Accademia of Florence, and replaced with a statue of Alex (same kind of white marble, same dimensions, same clothing (that is, none), same pose, with maybe just a little alteration regarding the crotch, which in the original David is somewhat… how shall I say… poorly rendered)? The debate is really thrilling. On the one hand, a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture, on the other a masterpiece of Australian aboriginal manhood. Naturally, all the Florentine hotel and shop owners are all for the Alex statue! This is understandable, I must say. After all, imagine the hordes of tourists who would visit Florence just to see it!

Oh, is that the time? I must leave you. I don’t want to miss the beginning of a TV fitness program starring Alex. I understand they will explain us the indispensable, ultimate do’s and don’ts to look as fit, relaxed, happy and zen as he.

But before I go, one million thanks for this wonderful post, FOYeur!

Thank you so much for still working away on this web site. I often check on here to see if there is anything new and it never fails to make me smile if there is anything, especially if it’s a recent pic of him!! I so hope we get to see him in something else and he’s not given up on the acting from my point of views but from his, if he’s happy and content to stay away from acting now (maybe focusing more on the directing side as he’s expressed ) then of course I wish him all the best – always. Btw, are there any fellow British fans on here ?
