3285 Days of #AlexOLoughlin Fun …. We are 9

Nine years since we published our first post on this site and just more than ten years of following Alex’s career.

… to us!

It has been a roller coaster ride indeed.

This is post number 2382 on the blog and lots of hours behind creating each one of them. Not to mention all the Instagram, Facebook and Twitter posts over the years. And then reading and answering comments on all of them.

Lots of time and energy spent here!

All worth it.

I thought a lot about what to say – trying to find something memorable. Even read through my old anniversary posts for some inspiration and guidance. In the end I realised that in them you can find most of what can be said and nothing really more memorable to add.  It is just all about Alex and fellowship with those who want to enjoy him with us.

I thought about writing about the pandemic and how it affected all of us. Even thought about sharing some of the pain and hardships we experienced during these past 9 years. But realised that would achieve nothing to try and add real life in here.

I even pondered about writing some harsh words for those who over the years took away the fun from us in many different ways. But in the end decided that they are not worth the time and energy to be mentioned here.  They just create noise that drain joy from us and others and therefor deserve no mention.

Our focus and joy remains with Alex and his work!

It is all about who he is and what he offers us with his work and conduct – that is what is important.

Our passion will always be to bring you the best and the most accurate information about Alex that we can find.

We like to keep it real as far as possible, with the main focus on reporting on Alex’s actual work and other passions, enhanced with pictures of that work and other footage we can find.

It is definitely not easy to stay patient during this time of waiting. Waiting to see what Alex  will do next. But there is no use for any of us to fret about it. It is what it is.

I prefer to enjoy that which we have here and enhance and update it with that which we haven’t published yet.

And together with it, enjoy the company of others who enjoy him.

Stay safe!

Lots of Love

#AlexOLoughlin & Carol Burnett – On the set of #H50 – 2015

Pictures and a video clip of Alex and Carol Burnett on the set of Hawaii Five-0, Episode 6:12 – With some wonderful words of love and respect for one another.

Carol: Well, I love it. The crew is sensational. They’re absolutely terrific.

And I love Alex very much. I feel like his Aunt Deb.

There’s a true Aloha Spirit here. I used to live in Hawaii for a long time. And so, the Islands are very healing.

Alex: Well, you know at first it’s a little overwhelming, because she’s Carol Burnett, you know. And it’s like, “Oh my goodness. How ….?” You know, and ….. very quickly…. specially with someone like Carol, she’s so grounded and humble and amazing, you know.

And very, very quickly you are put at ease as an actor and as a person.

#AlexOLoughlin Leaving TBUP After Party – April 2010 (Transcript)

In April 2010, with the USA Premiere of The Back-Up Plan, some fans caught up with Alex at the end of the evening for some signatures and photos.

It was after he left the after party of the screening.

It must have been a long day by then for Alex, but he still had some time to give to some of the fans.

#AlexOLoughlin – #H50 SOTB 2018

Another great interview of Alex with Ryan Kalei Tsuji from Star Advertiser on the red carpet at SOTB 2018 for Season 9.

Alex addressing one of the issues when doing a show for so long.

And also remember, it was done a day or two after this interview:

#AlexOLoughlin & #ScottCaan – Talking about #H50 (2018)

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is alex-h50-sotb-2018.jpg

Ryan: We are moments away, ladies and gentlemen from talking to Steve McGarrett himself.

We are actually going to pan off this way. You can see Alex O’Loughlin is moments away. So we want to hear what you want to ask him.

Type in your questions right now in the comment section and we’ll be sure to ask Alex your question. For those of you watching right now on Facebook.

[Alex still talking to the previous reporter]

Ryan: And Alex, we are live here on the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.

Alex: Hi, how are you?

Ryan: Thank you so much for joining us.

Alex: Thank you.

Ryan: Nine seasons.

Alex: Yeah.

Ryan: Did you ever think when you started this journey, 10 years ago, that you would still be here today?

Alex: Ahh … I …. there’s no ….. I couldn’t possibly imagine this far ahead. Not that … not because I didn’t think we had it in us. But I think, you know, when you embark on something that …. this big, it’s a lot man.

It’s a lot of moving parts. It takes a village, you know. And it takes a community. Without all the people here, we’re not succeeding, you know.  And the people watching as well. And so, no, I didn’t.

I was like, “I wonder if we’ll make like Episode 2?

Ryan: [Laughs]

Alex: But yeah, here we are.

Ryan: What … what do you …  what would you say fans can look forward to seeing, this season? We have a lot of questions that’s coming in, asking about some cliffhangers that are happening. We have people asking….

Alex: [looking at the screen] There’s you and there’s me.

Ryan: That’s us …

Alex: Look at that suit!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is sotb-2018-alex.jpg

Ryan: Yeah, exactly [laughs]

Are you excited about doing the show …. does this continue to excite you? One of the fans asking.

Alex: Look it’s a really good question. Because there is such a thing as character fatigue. And at times it kind of can creep in. That has nothing to do with anything other than me …. and me inhibiting this dude for so long.

But yeah, you got to find ways to make it fresh. You got to find ways to sort of show up and shake … shake it off.

And, you know, sort of take a nap and …. and … and come back and revisit  the material.

Because the thing is, no matter … no matter what’s on the page, it’s up to you as the actor to make it work, you know. And if it’s not working, or you feeling like I’m doing the same, then you’re not trying hard enough.  You’re not digging deep enough. You got to keep it…. So it’s a …

In that sense, it’s a lot of work for me, personally. Because I like the work. I like to …. I like to pull it apart and give it everything I can. But yeah. Yeah.

Ryan: Final question. You have been doing this again for nine seasons. Sort of living, also in Hawaii all that time as well….

[Brake in transmission]

Ryan: We know that you are Australian, but you speak English obviously as you character. And can you do a Pidgin accent? And can you say something for our fans in Pidgin?

Alex: No, I wouldn’t … my wife is around here somewhere. And I swear to god, if I start talking Pidgin, she will come in and knock me ….

Ryan: Okay. That’s actually …

Alex: …. on my ass.

Ryan: If you can’t do it, it’s probably best …

Alex: I can kind of do it. And I’ve been practicing. And when my kids were really little ….

You don’t understand. I can do a lot off … I can do a lot of accents. Pidgin’s very hard. And it’s not just, “Do Pidgin”. There’s like …..

[Break in transmission]

… you know.

Ryan: Okay. Okay. That are different to yours.

Alex: Yeah.

Ryan: So we need a few more years and then we’ll ask you that question in two more years.

Alex: You know what, give me another nine years, I promise, I’ll give you a little demo.

Ryan: You heard it here, he’ll talk Pidgin in nine years.

Alex, enjoy tonight.

Thank you so much for joining us.

And again, Alex O’Loughlin joining us here….
