New cool pics of #AlexOLoughlin

Some wonderful new pictures of Alex with Kirk Lee Hammett posted by photographer Ross Halfin on Instagram.

We are not sure exactly when they were taken, but we suspect that they are quite recent.

Question: What do you listen to while you work out?
Rock. Hard rock. Like, really old Metallica, from their first four albums, or Soundgarden. Tool. I love working out to Tool.

Alex looks gorgeous! These are great photos, thank you so much. How do you find these wonderful gems? Alex looks rested, happy and ready to go back to work. We miss you, Alex.

I’m intrigued at the idea of an NCIS Hawaii. McGuyver just got cancelled.

    • I don’t see him going back to work any time soon, and certainly not as a lead on NCIS: Hawaii. Alex was always talking about the pressure and workload of being first on the call sheet. He said himself he left to spend more time with his family. Alex looks happy, rested and relaxed. To me, that says the opposite of getting ready to go back to work. I don’t think he’s ready for that yet. It’s only been a year. Plus, it’s already already been reported the lead of NCIS: Hawaii will be a female.

Alex made a point in both of his Zoom interviews from his house so far, particularly the pacbleu one of talking about how much he’s enjoying the time with Malia and his boys. And, he said he doesn’t know yet if he’ll go back to acting anytime soon.

I think people need to just let him have this time off, instead of speculating or hoping he’ll go back to work when he doesn’t seem to be interested in that right now. Let’s just let him be. He deserves this time off, he wanted it for years. I don’t want him to feel like he’s expected to go back to work, because it’s what the fans want. It needs to be what he wants, and what’s best for him and his family. He’ll let us know definitively if or when that will happen.

    • A rock guitare playing forensic? Could be an interesting feature. 😀

Alex’s name is not among the many ones I see in relation with NCIS Hawaii. And I cannot say I’m sorry. It’s time he moves on from a cop to some other kind of character. Though if he were in, I’d follow the show with devotion. In fact, I will follow anything he does with devotion, even if he chooses to be a rock in the Grand Canyon (I’ve seen allegedly good actors with great scripts in their hands much less expressive than a rock. Alex would make us laugh and cry were he a rock, a turbofan engine or an amoeba!).

I agree, Cassiopea. I hope Alex is searching for, or creating, something new and unique, utilizing his awesome talents as actor, writer, director and producer.

        • I wonder what people expect from him? Isn´t any role that is different from McGarrett new and unique? What do we want? And more important: what does Alex want? I´m sure, he will utilize his awesome talents as writer, director and maybe producer. But he would need people who want to watch his projects to do so. Nobody is an island and Alex said more than once that without the fans he wouldn´t have a job. Being an actor, writer and director without people who want to watch what you are doing, doesn´t work. We should be open to everything he comes up with. We know, what he is capable of, don´t we?

I absolutely agree with you. What is the point in creating a masterpiece if you don’t have an audience? Actors do need fans, who have more power than they think to keep them in the spotlights. Unfortunately, showbusiness is all about profit, not art, and producers and the rest of PTB won’t hesitate to call on actors with a solid fanbase, be they talented or not.

And yes, the key question here is: What does Alex want? As a loyal fan, I will respect any decision he makes. What else? If he wants to write or direct, I will watch his shows or movies. I’ll be disappointed not to see him on screen, of course, but at least, I know that any work that comes from him will be worth watching.

That said, I think I’m not overoptimistic when I say that we’ll see him again on screen. He has said time and again that he loves acting, and that he wants his own ‘Braveheart’.

Alex said not so long ago that he was in a transitional period of his life. It’s just a matter of us being ready to follow him wherever he wants to take us next.

            • Yes, you are right. I didn´t mean to imply that he will quit acting to solely work as writer, director and producer in the future. I´m not in Alex´ head (“unfortunatelly” or “thank god” 😉 ), so I don´t know, what his plans are for the future. But I would be very surprised if we won´t see him on screen often. And I would miss him, too. But it´s good to see, that he is obviously expanding his talents now. 🙂

Yes, true. That´s why it´s so important to support Alex in whatever he does. And too I think, even really good projects – films and stuff – are not accepted or not successful enough because they don´t sell enough which, in some case, is because they don´t “feed” “the taste of the masses” enough. So a solid fanbase is even more important. i just don´t know, if a solid fanbase is able to really be helpful with that. But we should do what we can do. – Thinking about “Feed” which, imo, could have been better in quality film when they had left the shocker parts out (the ones which are not related to the original story), or reduce them to a minimum and put the deleted scenes in.

    Hi creators from https://alexoloughlinintensestudy.wordpress.com/,

I just want to express my gratitude, for all the effort you put into this. I’ve recently got to know about Alex O’Loughlin as an actor, through the show Hawaii Five-O and also your website. That I started watching a few months ago as the show made a real and big impact on me – although I’m not really into them – but the way how Alex created and showed, the character Steve McGarrett and mostly grew is so impressive and got my attention. Alex – not only handsome – is geniune but humble at the same time, and such a hardworking man. He knows how to impress – with cry and and laughter – his audience and fans. Now I’m proudly one of them.

Mahalo once again, and keep up the amazing work!

    Warm regards,
    Madeline from the Netherlands

Thank you for this post, Paula and Foyeur. Alex looks wonderful!!
I’d love to see Alex play his guitar. I know he has said it’s a hobby he keeps just for himself, but I’ve had a recurring thought of him joining ACDC on stage, as he’s mentioned them too, as being one of his favourites. I can dream!!

Wow! Some new pics at long last! I feel like a bear coming out of hibernation!

Alex cannot hibernate, living as in does in Hawaii, but maybe he has been lethargic in terms of artistic activities, and this time spent with Kirk may be a sort of awakening prior to some serious artistic stuff. I’m crossing my fingers at breaking point!

Alex looks like a rock star, doesn’t he? A pity no audio is available to go with the pictures. We could prove him wrong when he said he didn’t profess to be good at playing the guitar! In any case, to see him happy and laughing is great!

Many thanks to Ross, to Nadine, and to you Paula, for sharing this much needed treat.

OMG! Alex must feel like he died and went to heaven! He’s worshipt that guy forever. Do we have any clue how or why these 2 hooked up? And they do make an adorable couple. Lovely dudes.👍🏽

    • From what we now see from Ross, it looks like Alex and Kirk know each other from before. That would be an interesting story to hear – when, where and how they met.

  13. Had to comment on this again because I watched “Frankenstein” with Marlon Brando and Kenneth Branagh recently on German tv and remembered the painting we saw on Alex´s couch at the Ross Halfin photoshoot and I also remembered what Alex once said about wanting to do projects that speak to himself. I must admit, I had no clue what I was talking about when I wrote my comment (which is never good) but I really liked that movie although I don´t know if it was good or bad because I still haven´t read the original script/book. If this is the kind of (thought provoking) projects, that speak to Alex, I hope, we will see a lot of them in the future. And watching that painting again, I wondered if Alex painted it himself? It´s very well possible that painting is also one of his talents as he is also a talented musician which he demonstrated in the film “August Rush”. I just realised, I am used to watch his Jiu-Jitsu which is cool but there is a lot more of what he is capable of. Looking forward to see what else we´ll find out and how his career will shape in the future.
