#AlexOLoughlin of #H50 is NOT on Social Media

I know it should not bother me so much, but this past week I have had a few instances where I got somewhat pissed off about social media pages that are perceived to be Alex.

There is a lot of ignorance out there and many fans do not understand the concept that a celebrity will have a verified account. An account with the correct verified mark next to it.

We ourselves get some DM messages from fans because they think we are Alex – I do not know why? We are not verified, we clearly state we have a fan page, and we never do posts as if we are him. And we always immediately correct them with online comments and in private dm’s.

If it is not verified, it is not real or official. No matter what is said in the title of that page. No matter that others might tag that account – it is not REAL without proper verification.

There is a ‘fan’ account on Instagram, who has been perceived as a REAL Alex account for a long time already, because it has been tagged and the title says official. And with seemingly personal posts like this:

_officialalexoloughlin_  “A part where I appear in the Meaghan Rath clip”

The account has 80 000 followers, purely because some ignorant people believe it is Alex’s account. And that page grows with a 1000 new followers every day ….. But the account belongs to a 14-year-old Spanish speaking girl. At the end of her bio, she says she is not Alex, but users rarely bother to read these bios.

She even posts in Spanish, but ignorant people are still fooled, and from their comments, it is clear that they now think Alex uses Spanish as well to communicate with fans. 😕

During this week, that account posted that her father is in isolation because of COVID19 – and many of the 80 000 ignorant followers now believe it is Alex’s dad who is sick. To me, that is a sick situation! And it pissed me off …

You can see the post and comments here:

And judge for yourself.

Many fans on that post, wish Alex and his father well. They use his name in the comments, because they are clearly still fooled by the account. And the account holder only “likes” those comments, without even trying to correct the wrong perception of those fans!! For me, that is just wrong!

And in my opinion, too many fans who should know better are supporting that account with likes and comments on it …..

And with it, YOU support the deceit!!

From March 2008 to May 2010 Alex used to have a MySpace account, where he communicated with fans. And in 2011 his Publicist started a Verified Facebook page for him.

He used it on occasion with a few posts about organ donation, but for the past few years, there has been no personal messages or official communication from Alex there.

And a few weeks back, some deranged person was allowed to repeatedly comment all kinds of nonsense on the community page there for many days, without being stopped by Alex’s people who should look after the page.

Just to confirm our point about Alex NOT being on Social Media, here are the times when Alex spoke about it:

12:31 [Comment From Lori] I know you are on MySpace. Are you on Twitter or Facebook at all?

12:32 Alex O’Loughlin: Lori – No. CBS has begged for both but I’m thinking about creating my own … it’s going to be called TWITFACE

Teri: “Donna Hall wants to know: will you please Twitter! Why haven’t you joined a social network?”

Alex: “I would rather set fire to myself than join social network!

I’m so unmanageable when it comes to that stuff. If I had Facebook, Twitter, anything like that, I don’t know what would happen.

Erin: You don’t like to tweet and stuff like that.

Alex: You know it SHITS me.

But I just, I don’t like. … I don’t know, there’s something sort of so creepy and voyeuristic in like, “Look what everyone’s doing” and “Look at all my $%@&”.

Alex: I’m actually surprised (by the support) sometimes because I don’t feel like I’m a very good celebrity. I don’t have a Twitter accountI barely manage my Facebook page and I don’t get to my e-mail often enough.

Pauly:  … tell us is your Twitter and your Instagram. Do you have one of those?

Alex: Me? Dude I don’t have any of that shit.

There s a lot of Alex O’Loughlin Facebook’s and stuff like that out there … but none of them are me. Literally, if I didn’t have an assistant, I would not open my mailbox. But that’s … I don’t know.

Alex: The … the desperate sort of desire for immediacy in everything, is wild, you know. That’s why I don’t … I don’t do social media. I don’t do …. my kids don’t have cell phones.

Alex is not on social media!

What pisses me off the most about it all, is when people are perceived to be Alex, when they are not, and then those fans think whatever is posted, is done by Alex and shows his opinion about matters. It is misleading and fraudulent.

Those ignorant and innocent fans/people are fooled by those who just don’t care, as long as they get attention and more likes.

This is our call to fellow fans to be responsible and considerate to other fans and to Alex.

Aloha!

There are many lonely people out there who are desperate to make a connection with someone they idolize. Sadly, they do not look or read carefully at the content of these fake accounts. This is also true of fan accounts who post under their own name but continue to repeat lies they have read elsewhere and now believe them to be gospel. Maybe that is even worse.

they don’t just believe this/many accounts are Alex/Scott, they attack, report, and get REALLY nasty with anyone that calls them out.
I suspect, but cannot prove, the erson that went off on me yesterday actually was the person that runs the fake account (under another account name) because english was clearly not a first language and despite pretending to be an adult, their speech was incredibly immature, and their ‘debate’ skills very childish. I was sworn at, threatened, had my account theatened, all for pointing out that the account was fake and that alex is NOT on SM at all and that he has spoken about that numerous times. this got me reported to instagram for being ‘fake news’, spam, for harrasment, i was accused of impersonating alex myself, how i was a nasty woman, ‘spread fake news’ (possibly learned english from a certain ‘leader’ perhaps?) and a bunch of stuff I won’t repeat.
in the ‘information generation’ it astounds me how easily led and gullible people want to be, even seem to *want* to be. and they will not and cannot be reasoned with.
believing a fake account CAN be harmless, but it can also lead to a lot of trouble and if you’r’e that gullible for that, what else might you fall for in the ‘real’ world?

    • Yes, Mama.
Fans deceiving fans are really bad. Especially about his marriage of course.
Are there any “new” rumours around?
I have done many posts in the past years, because of stupid ideas that became facts for some fans and were spread on social media.
Like Rhinoplasty, wigs, and hair transplants, and such.

I have heard virtually nothing since the show ended because I am waiting for the grieving process for some fans to complete the cycle to acceptance.

I have read no further articles from either PL or anyone else since PL gave his final synopsis of the future of the main characters and I doubt he will add to it. As for personal rumors about any of the cast, unless it comes directly from their mouths and is in quotes, I do not place any value or credibility on anything any of the media sites or their reporters/interviewers say, especially those. who claim to “know” things but confuse facts with their feelings.

Most people like to keep their private lives and the lives of their families private. We need to respect that It has nothing to do with being a good or fan or a “true” fan. It has to do with being a decent human being.

I hope everyone is well. It has been a difficult time for all of us.

        • I think you misunderstood my question.
I was jokingly asking if there is any stupid stuff said about Alex, about which I can do a study and a post to show it is not true.

Sorry. Haven’t heard anything crazy yet, but give it some time and I am sure someone will post some outrageous lie because the truth can be so boring. .

Thank you Foyeur, for the info, again! I agree with Alex. I don’t want to know what you are going to have for lunch, or tell constantly, about your day. I don’t want the world, to know, what I am doing, at every moment. Like Alex, I am not on Facebook, or Twitter,
Hope you are well, and hoping that Alex and his family, are doing well, and being safe.

The annoying thing is that this fake account can’t even be reported! Thank you very much for the warning anyway!

  6. I also have a clearly defined Fan account, in bio and highlights, on IG. Nevertheless, I am regularly contacted by people who think I am Alex. When I point out that they should read my bio, I have the impression that they don’t even know what I’m talking about. I have also started the “fight” against these misleading accounts that look like they are Alex. Either they use “official” in the name, write in the bio Actor, Australian or similar and indicate Honolulu, Hawaii as their location. When I argue with them, I find again and again that most of them are really young or very young girls. Still it pisses me off too and I would even go so far as to call it identity theft. In addition, in my opinion it is an absolute cheek and disgraceful towards Alex

How well I understand Alex! I execrate social media myself (I too would rather set fire to myself than join social network LOL!), and I find these celebs who live through FB or IG are pathetic. And what is worse, there are myriads of sick people who are interested! Don’t they have a real life of their own? Or is it so dull and poor that knowing what their idol had for breakfast is the highlight of their day?

Some people are really not aware of the harm they can cause, even unwittingly, with their fake news about someones else, be they a celeb or not. Before I found this Intense Study, I saw and read many disgusting things about Alex, such as a front pic of a naked man with Alex’s head (I instantly knew it was not him, don’t ask me why). Or that he had to go to rehab during S2 because he was up to his neck on coke. Repulsive. But this is the kind of things that can ruin a man’s life or career. It’s a serious matter, because so many ignorant people do believe what they read.

If I were Alex, I would be mad at so many idiotic, evil and abhorrent news about myself, but I suppose he’s past all this stupidity and has ceased to care.

Ergo: Once again, thank you FOYeur, for this clean, respectful and reliable site. I don’t waste my time searching for Alex news elsewhere.

I am in total agreement with Alex as I too am not a member of social media. Right here is about as much blogging as I care or want to do because of the subject matter. 🥰 It definitely is the best place to be for AOL because of the two ladies at the helm.😊😊

His social media is his pics. You can dream about him without knowing how he eats his eggs for breakfast or how he likes his steak for dinner. Soon times I even rewatch an episode with the sound off. Especially If the dialogue is truly stupid. Just looking at him is good enough OK some time. You now, some with some of his stunts and you make up your scenario. Ah, I miss Friday nights.

    • Could not agree more.
We actually get so much of him, without having to know about every move he makes. His hobbies, like jiujitsu and diving, give us wonderful extras. And whenever he attends events, he is always willing to take pictures with those at the event.
He is so willing to take pictures with fans, and as long as they are willing to share it, we all can enjoy it with them.
Therefore his Social Media actually depends on his friends and fans being willing to share their experiences with him, with others online.

yeah some fans will fall for anything now because they have nothing else better to do with their time accept to make other people’s lives a damn nightmare

    • Actually, most of these people who fall for these false accounts are non-English speaking and not very knowledgeable about the internet.
They just don’t know better and should be helped by those who know better, and not mislead by fans who support those who mislead others.

Alex is wise to avoid social media. He lets his work speak for itself. Great fan sites like this one find amazing information about Alex and share it with us, while he’s able to keep his private life private and protect his family from often cruel intrusion.

He put on it private page.
I can’t understand why people do this sort of think, he had me going for minute then came to my senses. He is a handsome man and a great actor!

    • They are usually scammers who are part of big cybercrime syndicates. They talk to you, and then they start to ask for money for some charity, etc. They are in it to get naive and desperate fans, who think they are talking to the real celebrity to part with their money.
Others are in it to start rumors and have fans believe their lies.
