#H50 10:16 – The Day Danno Got Himself Booked

Alex really wasn’t joking when he said at SOTB that the best thing about Season 10 would be the episode that he wrote and directed. Nothing in any of the other episodes come even remotely close to it.

At least Alex himself still looks gorgeous.

Why is Steve ironing a type of shirt for himself that we have never seen him wear before and will, I am kind of sure, never see him wear, ever?

Something we missed in the season opener – Brooke is the mom of a kid at Charlie’s school and not a teacher? So this means there is a little person also involved in that relationship (And most probably an ex as well). But I would take a wild guess that she was just another plot device and that there will not be a Brooke or her kid further down the line in Steve’s future.

Steve told the Vet that she did not hear from him again after their first date because he was busy with work, but he has been taking Brooke on dates a few times? So he was actually lying – and needed to be kicked in the shin for it? WEIRD? Or maybe all the countless dates with Brooke happened in the last two weeks since then, I guess. #dontmesswiththeimageofmyhero

Detective Danny shows some intuitive skills again during this case (so I guess now we can pretend he is a Detective again #hesaiditnotme ) – Just weird that while working with Steve all the time and living with him now, his detective skills failed him and he never picked up on the fact that Steve and Brooke have been going on dates a few times already. 😀

A number of changes that we have seen and mention before during this season. (Maybe because of Alex also being listed as a producer on the show now. I know it is debatable – some will say yes, others will claim no.)

  • More effort in the continuity of storylines
  • We most probably will not see Steve shirtless this season.
  • A little bit less of Steve during episodes.
  • A lot less episodes with major stunts in them.

Any other changes that you have picked up?

Interesting that there is, in the end, no mention of the terrible ordeal Tani and Noelani went through during that day. Maybe Steve could have mentioned that he invited them all as part of looking after his Ohana? Would have made a lot more sense to explain why he stayed home and invited them all.

Over the seasons they have been trying very hard to artificially keep the Bromance going – they tried therapy, then it was a shared liver and then a ridiculous restaurant. I guess this seasons effort of Danny living in Steve’s house seems less annoying than most of those I mentioned – but as I said last week, hopefully, that will soon end as well.

Sorry to say, but there is just no chemistry between Alex and Katie for me – Steve has had better sparks with some suspects and murderers on the show than with Brooke. Maybe they are trying to look very relaxed together – but that causes the effect of no romantic spark.

With this season reduced to only 22 episodes, this leaves us with only 6 left for the season. There are some small indications that there will be a renewal for Season 11. The seasons typically tend to end on a strong note. I hope we will not be disappointed.

I’m thinking Brooke is another Lynn, to be brought out as needed. It was mentioned in the first ep that she was divorced but didn’t mention a kid. I preferred the vet myself.

Just a thought: maybe Steve didn’t want Valentines day to be a romantic thing, and THAT is why he invited everyone over for a celebration.

Juniors back next week. Yay! Kick Danno out.

    • Just not sure why Steve would go on several dates with Brooke if he didn’t want any romance from her?
People can be just friends I know, but that was never what was implied here with them since the first date. And why initially plan a date with Brooke if he did not want it to be romantic?

      • Of course he want it to be romantic, nice shirt, nice dinner, nice dessert 😉
He just didn’t want his dannoying houseguest to be alone, because he loves him so much, you know.. 😀

Didn’t mean to imply they weren’t having a romance. Just that even back in the Catherine days Steve never liked the whole “take your lady out for Valentines day romance.” Catherine was rather critical remarking that she’d be lucky to get a cheap box of chocolate. And then there was the black eye from Lynn episode. He’s probably right to try and avoid the whole holiday!

Catherine said she was good with chocolates for Valentines’s Day. It was Kono who made the comment about getting drug store candy to Chin when he had not gotten anything for Malia yet. He then bid on and won ukulele lessons for her.

That’s why Steve showed up with that fancy box of chocolates when Catherine had to ship out and he decided to do his reserve training at that time so they could spend some time together. This was the episode where Lori was fired and started to confess her feelings for McGarrett which went totally over his head.

  2. ‘Love Actually’ isn’t that long, so Steve and Brooke still can have some fun after it. 😉
I can’t say anything about sparks, but just because we did not see that much of McBrooke. I love it that she is no military, no law enforcement, that is refreshing and a good thing. Steve needs some contact to people from ‘another world’. And I loved seeing Brooke feeding him with popcorn, it felt so naturally.
And I loved Steve’s Sheldon Cooper moment.
Like you, FOYeur, I thought Brooke is a teacher? Weird.
Another thing I enjoyed (and watched several times, I confess. I had time because I didn’t not care for Danny mumbling through his scenes, ugh) was Steve dealing with the authorities. He is one manly manly man. And he can also be one cute boyish man, we all know that.
And now don’t laugh, but Steve was reminding me of Grandma Walton. Yepp. She was always ironing with an attitude. Like Steve. 😉
I hope D leaves the house pronto. His upbringing must have been lousy.
Changes? Hm, well, I like it that Steve does no longer condone all insults and complains from D. He gives back and that is a good thing. And I think ‘his’ episode made it very clear how ‘his’ Steve feels about Danny.
Thank you for the pics, Paula. I have to say we got a bunch of Alexpressions in this episode.

    • Not so sure about the fun after with Danny there – Mary did mention way back that the walls in the house are paper thin. 😛

I love the idea of Brooke’s character and who she is – just like you mentioned. I would have just liked better chemistry between the two actors. Alex usually oozes sensuality when it is needed to show sparks – it was just not there for me.

I also liked the popcorn moment and Paula actually added that pic on my request – it was just too brother and sister like for me – I would have liked it to show some tenderness between them – from there the no spark feeling for me.
Not sure I know what the Sheldon Cooper moment is?
Military men know their ironing (and the attitude)- that I know from experience of dating one who used to be in the army. Not sure why a civilian (although it is one wearing a dress shirt every day) would want to lecture a soldier on ironing.
Think you are right about what Steve tolerates these days.

      • I am pretty sure Brooke is living somewhere, a house, an apartement… 😉
And I didn’t have a brother/sister feeling, and the rest was too short to say anything. But they both felt comfortable with each other, so I am sure there have been a lot dates with a lot fun. I want it so *stomps feet* because Steve deserves it so much.

I absolutely loved your post. And I completely agree with your reasoning. No idea why they had Steve ironing a shirt the writers knew he was not going to wear except for some McDanno kitchen conversation. Considering what Noelani and Tani just went through, a nice meal in the former McDanno restaurant sure beats popcorn and a movie sandwiched into someone’s supposed romantic date.

I have a very bad feeling about Adam and wonder if he may not survive into next season. A new male series member is rumored to be is coming on board and the cast is already too crowded around the smart table.

Also, did anyone notice the look Quinn gave Danny? She gave that same look to Adam earlier in the season. Does it have any connection to her back story that we are going to learn someday, as per the EP.

I believe we will get Season 11 and PL knows already.

    Liked by 1 person

    • Not that I care much about her story, but Quinn has been very one dimensional the whole season – they have not really been utilising her as well as Jerry’s character used to be.
Ian loves Hawaii (he mentioned it on some of his posts – regarding it as home now) – and unless he’s got a very good new role somewhere else, I do not see him going anywhere next season.

My gripe with the shirt he is ironing, is that Steve does not wear shirts like that – a white shirt with thin stripes on it. I can’t recall ever seeing him in anything like it – day or night. He usually wears coloured dress shirts with no stripes, when going out. And normally something plain blue or black or plain white. I will have to go back and see if I am wrong about it

I was thinking he might be getting a new series and I really have no idea why I have this feeling, except that I do. Cannot explain and have nothing concrete to point to as I have not heard anything to lead me to this conclusion. Just a vague feeling like when your knee hurts before it rains.

      • I think Steve was ironing a shirt he had planned to wear at his date. Maybe a walk on the beach after dinner, or maybe a party with a ‘white stripes‘ theme. 😉 Who knows? But then it all changed and he just chose his polo.

As always, thank you for the pics, FOYeur and Paula. They’re great!

So there might be a S11. Since S5 I’ve had mixed feelings when it comes to new seasons, because of Alex’s career. But I won’t get nervous anymore and will take it as an advanced traineeship process during which he can polish up his skills as a writer, director and producer. So if he’s earning money and getting ready for really big future projects at the same time, all is well! And the fact that S10 is so short means a longer hiatus for him, with lots of time to write one or maybe two epis (and get a rest as well!).

About Ian: He may love Hawaii, but IMHO, I don’t see PL acting as a generous benefactor and keeping him in the show if the character is “spent”. On the other hand, Ian has his fans and they might scream blue murder if he were excluded from the cast. Time will tell. Though if there is an additional new male member, as mamayorkie has heard, they’ll simply have to build a larger magic table to fit them all.

And no, Steve has never worn a white shirt with thin strips on it. Never.

BTW, any idea about the approx. date they’re going to finish filming S10?

Maybe Steve was ironing Danny’s shirt? Just a thought. Danny does wear shirts like that all the time. Wow if there will be a Season 11. I guess Alex wants to keep going! The viewership numbers have stayed high, sometimes beating Blue Bloods, which used to come in millions of viewers higher each week.

I love Ian but really do wonder what’s going to happen to Adam. I even thought that Steve might have to take him out, if he’s truly turned bad. But Peter L posted a sneaky post on his Twitter recently. A fan admonished him for the possibility of doing away with Adam, and Peter replied, “Just wait, you’ll see.” So that tells me that this is a con. Maybe a triple cross plan to take out the Yakuza on Hawaii? Maybe Adam is working with ANOTHER AGENCY to take out the Yakuza, and Five-O doesn’t know about it.

Steve surely is suspicious of Adam. For me, that doesn’t bode well for Adam.

          • He said that he was ironing his own shirt for Valentine’s date when Danny asked, so it was NOT Danny’s shirt. But yes it looks more like a Danny type shirt. And from there my comment that I feel the props department did not make a good choice in the shirt that they gave Steve to iron for the scene.
As for Adam, I also saw that tweet and guess we will have to wait and see how the writers planned to explain Adam’s behaviour.

        • I think Peter will always have a story for Adam if Ian chose to stay on. And not just as a generous benefactor, but as Ian is part of the show Ohana and he gives diversity to the show and there is a lot of history in his character of Adam.

I think they will wrap filming somewhere in mid- March

First of all love the post and all the beautiful pictures that have come with it.

Secondly I’m super sad that season is being cut so short which I know it’s only 3 episodes shorter but seriously how can we only have like a month and a half left🥺. Plus this throws off the timeline for milestone episodes being the 7th episodes of every other season. Or maybe we’ll get lucky and they’ll add three more episodes like they did last year(I think. They said 22 but ended up as 25). I guess time flies when you’re having fun.But Alex does deserve a longer break to do his thing, maybe write a few more episodes and breathe before heading back to work. I just selfishly will miss his hotness on Five-0 Fridays.

Since I’ve been rewatching past seasons I have never seen Steve wear a shirt like the one he was ironing and I would hardly think that he would be so nice to Danny to iron that for him,but I could be wrong.

As for the Steve and Brooke story, I have to say I’m not feeling it. I dont get the warm and fuzzies with them together. I agree that Steve needs a woman in his life. I’ve thought this since Catherine left, however I dont that shes it. So if all he gets out of it is a friend, I’m good with that. Someone outside of the group for him to hang with. And Speaking of Catherine we haven’t had an episode with he in it yet and that has been the case since every season since she was taken off as a cast regular. Another reason to add more episodes?😬

As for the Adam storyline… a part of me wants home to be the new baddie. I feel like we really haven’t had a twist like that in a while. Like have him work with Wo Fats widdow and the Yakuza. I feel like that would be an interesting plot twist to the whole thing. Just cuz I just rewatched episode 100(for like the 50th time) the other day, I kind of miss how they would bring the Wo Fat story in and out of random episodes. We know Steve is keeping a watchful eye on Adam so I feel like he’s expecting something like this but we may not find out if the season is shorter. All the more reason for a renewal then…Right.

    • My guess is that they have reduced the episodes to give broadcast time for Peter’s other two shows – MacGyver and Magnum. There was not enough space for them both on the schedule as well and I think compromises were made to have less H50 and still keep the other two shows running.
So I doubt if there will be any more episodes added to H50 at this stage – they have planned it that way since the start of the season and have planned the stories accordingly.

Loved your post FOYeur and agree on so many points!! I definitely am not feeling Brooke at all though. She seems a bit stiff and I also thought was a teacher. I have to say that Catherine and Steve definitely had chemistry. They definitely were paired right. Maybe things will change with Brooke but with only 6 eps left to go not much time to see how things will play out for Steve and Brooke if they do at all.
I also read about the actor that was being considered for S11 if it happens. He is supposed to be in the final 2 eps for S10.
As for Danny I was in shock that he actually had so much to contribute on a case. He usually stands in the background and shrugs or says a couple of words or nothing. Just that blank look. What is up with that????
I love the pics of course. Thanks much Paula.

    • I think it’s just that people are different. It’s all in the eye of the beholder. From the 7 seconds McBrooke we got in this episode I can say nothing about chemistry or not.
But in the season opener I thought they definitely had chemistry.
And I – and that is just me, my feelings – never got the love vibes from Catherine towards Steve. But if she’s endgame, I am okay with it. All I want is a lucky Steve.

    • Hi Joni
Not sure what I wrote made you think that we act like it is an Academy movie. And by that, I guess you mean an Oscar-nominated movie?
Maybe this is your very first time here because if you have been here more often, you will know that we are here regardless of knowing that this is not award-winning show we are dealing with here,
In fact, what you said made me think that you think of the show as award-winning,
And if you want to read some other award-winning reviews about the show, I can suggest a few other places to frequent.
Here we have some fun with what we see and for what we know the show is. A highly successful show that should not be taken too seriously as great drama, but as the light mindless entertainment that it is.
And of course, we are actually just writing anything about the show, because we are all about Alex and this happens to be his job at the moment. And it is mainly to post some pretty pictures of Alex as Steve and have some fans give their thought and have fun doing so ….. 🙂

  9. Thanks so much for the pictures . i think a big change this season is they are trying to make Danny more of a good guy . If I was Peter I ‘d make Danny work part time with women in abusive relationships , that would explain his absences from the team. Maybe were all not feeling Steve and Brooke because they are new. I always felt Catherine was his big love and I wish there was some way that she could redeem herself . Maybe he will learn to love Brooke more and have his own little family that he so deserves, Steve always prefers spending time with his people over going out, i think Steve will figure out whats up with Adam and save him at the last minute. Just thinking maybe the new guy is not going to be part of the team, but the governor , or someone to watch over the team after the trouble they get into with Adam, Hope the rest of the episodes are solid and smart, Aloha

Maybe we’re not feeling Steve and Brooke because there’s not enough of Steve and Brooke to see! She’s very beautiful, but a few seconds in an episode doesn’t work for me. Maybe Alex will integrate her more into the remaining episodes so we discover who she is. A child would be nice in Steve’s life. I’ve always felt that he would be a wonderful, loving step-father, if he could just find that special someone to fall in love with. He has always adored Danny’s kids. He’s a natural Papa Bear to his Ohana, so step fatherhood would be natural for him. I wanted him to adopt Nahele way back when. I thought there was a beautiful bond forming there. He really was a surrogate dad to the kid for several seasons. Then that faded away.

Steve as a father would give Alex wonderful new colors to play and emotions to explore. I’d love to see it.

      • I highly doubt if we will see Brooke in any of the remaining episodes. And if she is there and her story is fleshed out more I would be pleasantly surprised,
But I still think that even with more screentime between them, the two actors will not give a romantic vibe between them. It is just not there. Same as it was with Lynn.
Not sure if it is maybe Alex that struggles to give a romantic vibe on screen since he got married. Which would be sad, because it is acting after all and personal life should not influence what you do as part of the job as an actor.

When the spark between characters is missing, nothing the writers can write, and the actors try their best to deliver, can change he fact that chemistry can’t be faked. It is either there or it isn’t.

And working with the abused women also sounds like a good excuse for absence. They have actually incorporated Scott’s availability a lot better this season as well.
As for the new actor and character – he is also from the military as far as I have read. Another one of Steve’s broken toys from there I might guess. Maybe Beulah will be moving on to a movie career and the new guy will replace him on the team.
I see Harry is back for the next episode and of course Junior also returns.

Oh, wow, thanks for the great pictures. I also thought that was not a “Steve” shirt. I had not paid attention that Brooke was a mom, so there would be a kid in the picture, nor had I thought about how Danny should have noticed Steve had gone on some dates. I did think about how much time was supposed to have passed since his failed interaction with the vet and assumed he and Brooke had gone out several times in a short period. Alas, in order to enjoy the show I have had to stop paying attention to too many details.
I thought Steve and Brooke were cute together but because this was the first time we had seen them interact it was like they have had time to get comfortable with one another instead of always sparking (if that makes any sense).
The Sheldon Cooper moment was Steve telling Danny he took his spot on the sofa. As a BBT fan, I had the same thought. Sheldon was very possessive of his spot (not just on the sofa, but the exact spot in the room).
I have to say again, good grief our main man looks good in this ep. I didn’t pay that close attention because of the emphasis on Danny’s “amazing” detective skills. If Danny had not created a personality that irks me so much I would give him a “good job”. I am just incredibly glad he did not end up with the wife at the end of the episode. At least the writers did not decide that was an appropriate hook up this time.

    • Yes, I only mention the details that amuse me. And mentioning them does not take away from how I enjoy Alex on the show.
Yes, I only realised what the Sheldon comment meant after I asked LeiCa about it, And the way he said it made it sound like Sheldon saying it – but in fact, I think he was referring to his spot next to Brooke and not a specific spot on the couch like Sheldon would have. And as you said not even just on where it is on the couch but also how he calculated what his best place in the room is to sit. Similar to Sheldon but also not 🙂
And your last paragraph gave me a good laugh – spot-on comment. Lucky for her, she already had the Dr in her life. 😀

Alex is a highly trained actor and as such, surely he is prepared to embody (that the right word?) any kind of characters, from the most villain to a saint, with all the emotions that this implies. I doubt he would subdue his natural sensuality and charm if the story needed it, or if he would have to struggle to let them surface just because he’s married. Why, he was married when ‘he’ was with Cath yet the chemistry was there, or when he had that torrid flashback bed scene in Morocco, I think it was, with that evil woman whose name I can’t remember.

I have not watched the Brooke epi or epis, but if I go by what you all say, the problem is either a lack of chemistry between them (and that simply cannot be fixed. Chemistry is there or not, end of story) or a paucity of screen time together.

I agree leiCa about his chemistry. It is pretty strong. It doesn’t matter what my prejudged feelings may be about Brooke because if it turns out that she does right by Steve like he deserves for a change I’ll be in her corner for sure. I just want him to find someone to love and for him to have some personal happiness in his life to help overshadow some of the pain and loss he has endured. I would love to see him have a McBaby of his own! He definitely would be a fab dad! To hope to dream! We would certainly need more time for this dream scenario. I’m hoping that we’ll see Alex for as long as the powers permit and/or for as long as he decides he wants to continue.

Lovely words, leiCa, but not quite correct. Chemistry is not a unilateral affair. It takes two to make it work. Alex can ooze sexyness and seduction on command, as the excellent professional he is, but if the woman in front of him does not respond, it’s useless. This does not mean the said woman is a bad actress or that she is impervious to his charm (who could be? Sigh). It means that for some reason (unknown to me), the electric contact, the spark, between two brains is not established. I’m not sure that what I say is making sense. It’s rather like trying to know why some people adore the scent of Chanel No. 5 and others abhor it. Yoy simply can’t explain it.

    Like

    • Nothing wrong with what you said about chemistry is the strongest when being mutual, just look at my answer to CassG’s comment.
But I still believe that the feeling of some chemistry is subjective, it is not a ‘I feel it so everyone else feels it too’. It depends on so many things, what you want a character to be, to behave, your level of forgivenes, your own need for romance, and to what extend you’re influenced (or biased?) because you desperately want another ship come true.
The moment Steve has a woman at his side you can start a countdown. Look at all the folks here who never commented before. Some abCs: what a wonderful new girlfriend, their chemistry is so strong! Some McRolls: he never looks at her like he looked at C. No chemistry at all.
And the McDannos? Well, when HawaiiFive0CBS does some shipper baiting they don’t seem to mind that they get some queer baiting for free. And of course he never looks at this woman the way he looks at Danno ;-).
Sorry for my rant… In short what I just wanted to say is that for me chemistry is not a fact. (So I don’t feel the ReyRei chemistry at all, others do. Who is right?)
Oh, and btw, I agree with what you said, lol.

It took a long time to read all the comments. I agree that Steve has never worn a shirt like that. That was a Danny shirt. He wore one even at 10:00 morning on his day off. Weird. Also, with Danny living in Steves house, that he never noticed that Steve was out of the house in time to date any anyone? The two of them are up each butts all the time. Calling each other all the time just to see “how are you doing” Also weird. Agree that I didn’t feel any spark between Steve and Brooke. Only thing that I liked was that she is not involved with his job. I like the whole ohano thing, but everyone needs to get away from their family sometimes. Don’t know whats going on with Adam. Ever he came back to Hawaii without Kono and was able to join 5O, the story has been laughable.Um..did he have to go to the police acadamy? Like Tani and Junior? One thing not mentioned. While in the convention store, when the man was having a convulsion, Tani told his wife that he would get good medical help in jail. She would tell the judge that they didn’t have any money and needed the money for his tests an such. Maybe I am looking too much between the lines, but this seemed a stab about our healthcare situation. If I want a show about politics I will watch late time TV. Now that’s where all the professionals are. Sorry about any spelling mistakes.

Thanks for the great photos, Foyeur. Steve is gorgeous, as usual, but I’d really like to see him clean-shaven. The gray stubble just doesn’t go with the dark hair they’ve given him this season.
This episode wasn’t bad, but there wasn’t enough Steve. I love the Mc, but not the Danno. At this stage, I find everything Danny does, irritating. If the writers had done better with the character, letting him grow and change as a person, the way Steve did, I might actually miss him when he’s gone.
There are just six episodes remaining. So far, there hasn’t been anything about Catherine’s single episode, or whether she’ll have one. Maybe they’re saving it for the finale.

I agree, I dislike the gray stubble and it doesn’t go with the hair at all. Steve/Alex is so gorgeous clean shaven (or super sexy with a thick, full beard!) I’m shocked to learn that they’re only doing 22 episodes this year and the show will end on April 3rd. That’s seven weeks earlier than their normal last episode, in mid-May. I’ve read that the final episode is a two-parter and introduces a possible new cast member for next year. Maybe with his new clout as producer, Alex negotiated for fewer episodes so that he could have more time off. At this point, the network and the studio want him, so hopefully that gives him more clout at negotiation time. Do we think there will be a Season 11?

I really doubt there’s stuff to be read ‘between the lines’ in this show. It’s an action show with touches of comedy, and in my opinion the writers deliver texts that fit the situation and that’s that.

And don’t be sorry about spelling mistakes, if any. This is not a cultural blog written by literary scholars. It’s about Alex, it’s fun, we give it the time we can or want, and what brings us together is our love for our man. Says one who makes all sort of spelling and grammatical mistakes by the dozen!

One woman that AOL had strong chemistry with in season 3? was the actress Vanessa Marcial who played a therapist and a villain who went toe to toe with McGarrett until he finally arrested her trying to leave the country. The other was Greer, who betrayed him and caused the death of his team members, including Joe. Maybe the writers believe sexual tension has to be rooted in danger and that’s why Steve likes his women tough. No plastic snowflakes for McGarrett.

I agree. He and Greer Sizzled! I also liked the looks he was giving the NCIS lady last year. There was even a date. He does seem to like them feisty.
Doesn’t surprise me Danny was clueless about the dates. Danny is as self absorbed as a cat. (Steve’s words.)

You may have a point, here, mamayorkie.

Steve does seem to react to tough, intelligent women, villain or not (Cath is not a villain) such as the therapist you mention. That was plain in the scene at the Café Julia. Maybe that’s why there was no chemistry with Lynn, who is too nice a women. I’m not sure about Greer, though. She was an intellectual challenge to Steve and that interested him, but I saw no sexual tension between them.

Now is when the wicked writers surprise us and have Steve falling madly in love with a perfect housewife who concocts him nice little dishes low in cholesterol, reminds him to take a jacket if he goes out on a wet night, knits a sweater for him on sundays while he’s watching a football game on TV and yells at him if he forgets to wipe his feet on the doormat before coming in, well you see what I mean. Can you imagine?

      Yes, Cath must come back.

        I love this statement.

“perfect housewife who concocts him nice little dishes low in cholesterol, reminds him to take a jacket if he goes out on a wet night, knits a sweater for him on sundays while he’s watching a football game on TV and yells at him if he forgets to wipe his feet on the doormat before coming in,”

I hope the writers don’t try to saddle Steve with a 1950’s “perfect housewife”. I think she’d drive him nuts or even cause him to re-enlist. That would be nightmare choice. He needs a woman who has his back, loves him no matter what, can shoot a gun and can get creative in a foxhole.

Yes, Cath needs to return and I believe she will. The question is when.

Whoa! I thought I was looking between the lines with the stab about our healthcare system. Did I miss an episode? Who is this “50s” woman? Brooke? I think the only woman ever cooked for him was his mother (fried baloney sandwiches) He has cooked an romance dinner for Lynn and he has cooked for his ohana many times. That 7 seconds scene with Brooke make you think is a “50s” woman? Or think that he is madly in love with her?
Unless I missed something, that idea seems a jump.

We weren’t really talking about the Brooke or Lynn characters per se. We were talking about a type of character that the writers might consider as a surprise twist in their story telling, just because they could. That is not saying they would. A 50’s housewife refers to the Moms on the TV shows of that era who wore dresses and heels ( and pearls) to vacuum the house. The point was that these were not “real” women as we know them today but some long ago writer’s dream of how a woman should behave. My mother certainly didn’t dress up to clean the house.

I don’t understand your reference to the health care system because it is not in this exchange. Did you mean Tani? We weren’t talking about her or the incident in the convenience store so I am a little confused.

Oh lovely, lovely blog, where we can analyze the ironing of a white striped shirt and give it an importance we’d never give a shirt in our RLs just for the fun of it, where we can write as if we were psychologists and pros in the TV shows business without having a bunch of purists screaming at us, that makes us smile, laugh, worry, wonder, agree and disagree a little or a lot with others’ opinions, that offers pictures that wake up our most naughty thoughts and where nobody points an accusing finger at us if we dare to express them, that is so fruitful that sometimes we lose the thread of the discussion snd are confused, that takes our minds off our daily problems and boring routine, and where one can learn from those who know better.

In short, what a lovely, lovely perfect blog!

Wasn’t Doris a former elementary school teacher? Maybe Brooke triggers memories, both good and bad from Steve’ childhood. I doubt he put Greer’s betrayal totally out of his mind since she caused the death of of many of his friends. It would be normal for him to question how he didn’t see that coming and blame himself. All of this is contributing to the hard time he is having now (including blowing off the Vet) and I am waiting patiently for the writers to acknowledge his PTSD. But with so little time left in the season it would have to be a cliffhanger. And speaking of cliffhangers, does anyone know what happened to the woman who shot Jerry at the end of last season or her son? I still don’t.

    • Remember – Brooke is not a teacher – we thought so after the first date, but now we learned that she is a just a mother with a child at Charlie’s school.
I think Eddie’s PTSD episode and Steve talking of his own experience during that episode, will be all we get about that subject – and I think it is actually good that there will not be more of it. Suffering from PTSD will just be another trauma and thing he will have to deal with. Let the man just have some happiness – and passion. NO more illnesses, please
I was also wondering about that woman – just another one in the lost of unfinished stories on the show. They are countless by now!!

Does this mean that Eddie is the surrogate sufferer for Steve’s PTSD? I wish that they had dealt with this real problem instead of Liver and Radiation or even the stress of that stupid restaurant story. Was this swept under the rug because Danny couldn’t “participate” in the way he did with the other stories? Now Danny is the house guest who won’t leave. At lest junior was homeless and had no job when Steve took him in. Different situation entirely.

The whole point for ten years has been the writers desire to make Steve suffer. I am not sure why they chose that route but but they did. Perhaps season 11 is the time for Steve to finally be happy. I hope so.

I had completely forgotten about the radiation! There are so many unfinished stories in that show that they’d need 10 additional seasons if they decided to unravel them all!

My theory about having Steve suffering all the time is that the powers that be (PL, the writers, etc.) must think that this is good for the show. For women, having their heroe suffering rouses their maternal instinct in some cases (when they see him vulnerable, such as in epi 100, when he was sitting in a corner of the “white room”, huddled up, with his arms around his body as if to protect himself. I for myself wanted to hug him as if he were a baby) ) or their romantic instinct in others (if I were there, instead of X or Y, I would know how to make him happy. Example when Cath chose to join the CIA instead of staying with him). Regarding the male audience, they must think that men admire a character who can endure torture, go on with his mission even if has just taken a beating or has a bullet in the shoulder, who can fly any kind of machine, drive, ride, and bla bla (all allegedly male achievements) and yet whose personal life is a mess. Somehow they must think okay, I’m not a super SEAL, but at least I have a loving wife and nice kids. Or something like that. This suffering makes Steve an interesting, non-flat character.

That’s why I think that Steve won’t be happy until the last epi of the last season. Very far-fetched, I know.

In any case, when Steve is suffering, at least mentally, Alex is at his best, so I’m not necessarily against him being tormented from time to time.

OMG! What you wrote about a person who can endure toture, go on with the mission even has taken a beating or a bullet etc. That’s our Steve. And more. Catherine is like the female of Steve. A ninja. I think when Catherine comes back to the show, she has away all this time, and has had a sex change and is now a man. Just like Steve. Then she can move into the house along Steve, Junior and Danny. They can all live together like a frat house. I’m only joking with you. The show has become just so silly. If it wasn’t Alex being just so handsome and so damn sexy, there wouldn’t be any watct at all. Bring on more shirtless Steve. Give us girls want we want. It’s certainly not for the writing.

Someone wants Danny to leave Steve’s house because Junior’s back…Steve and Danny are partners and have been since the beginning…they are the heart and soul of the show…..and Tani and Junior are really getting their relationship going so I’m thinking they’re moving in together and probably not Steve’s house…

    • Hi Marian
      1) Someone wants Danny to leave Steve’s house because Junior’s back – I do not think that is the reason for feeling he should move on – He outstayed his welcome since he moved in the first time, even with Junior there. Junior coming back is not the reason for him to leave now.

      2) Steve and Danny are partners and have been since the beginning – Yes, they are work partners. Most people do not stay with their work partners if they could help it.

      3) they are the heart and soul of the show – That might be true, but it does not mean that they have to share every moment of their lives together.

      4) and Tani and Junior are really getting their relationship going so I’m thinking they’re moving in together and probably not Steve’s house – Most probably. It will be great if they could get a place together. It will all depend on how much they want to let everybody know about their relationship – they might not be prepared to move in together so quickly. Some people do wait before taking such a step – but I would guess they won’t. 🙂

Steve has been living alone for many years before now – he does not need somebody around him full time to be happy. I would guess just the opposite, especially if he wants to date somebody and start a relationship – LOL 😀

It is going to be awkward if Tani and Junior’s relationship and the fact that they are now sleeping together becomes general knowledge to the team. This makes for a difficult work relationship for everybody and it may be best that they try to hide it ( though there will likely be some interesting looks going their way from Grover.) Living together may not be an option just yet, so in my mind it would be best if Junior stays with Steve if he still can’t afford a place of his own, he and Tani keep their new status quiet and Danny moves out permanently and in with Rachel and the kids where he really wants to be.
