Here is the transcript from the ET Canada interview at SOTB 2019.

Alex: Hey man.

ET Canada: How the heck are you?

Alex:  How the heck am I? I’m heckin good. I don’t know, how do you … how do you? What’s the correct response?

ET Canada: So, tell me ..  tell me … tell me how great it is to have all these fans here tonight.

Alex: Oh man ….. Look, look at them.

[Fans cheering]

Alex: They are awesome. Like, without those guys, I don’t have a job. So it’s like, I don’t really have the words to describe my gratitude … gracefully.

Because, how do you say thank you to millions and millions of people, you know? These guys are representatives of like millions of people all around the world that had tuned in for a decade.

And keep my family fed and kept hundreds and hundreds of people employed. So yeah, I don’t know. I mean. What do I say man?

ET Canada: What’s going to make Season 10 the best season ever?

Alex: The episode I wrote and directed.

ET Canada: Tell us about that.

Alex: I’m kidding. I don’t know. I mean, they’re all good, right. Yeah I ….. I, I …. spend the hiatus writing an episode that I wanted to deliver. That I just sort of wanted to say … give a thank you gift to the legacy that’s carried me for ten years.

And there’s a storyline that I didn’t feel like we had wrapped up in a satisfactory way for me. And I think the fans will appreciate it … I hope.

And, it was an ambitious thing man. I tried to write something cinematic and shoot it in a very non-cinematic ….. you know, compounded amount of time and budget and all the rest of it.

We …. I don’t know, I don’t know ….. I like it. I am very  green man …. as a writer. I don’t know, I’m not a writer, you know, but ….

ET Canada: How do you sustain a show so successfully for 10 amazing years?

Alex: In what sense? You mean as an actor?

ET Canada: Yeah, as an actor.

Alex: Well like if you …. Like there’s some actors, they kind of cruise, you know. They have like a bunch of time off and they …. But as a number one on the call sheet.

You know, number one the call sheet – all that means, is that you’re going to work more than anyone else. That’s all that means.

It doesn’t mean that you are talented or more special or any of that stuff.

So the answer is, you’ve got to look after yourself. You’ve got to like treat …. You got to look after your body. You’ve got to treat ….

I don’t know how other people do it, but I try to eat well, you know. And just keep just staying measured. It’s like if you’ve got to sprint a marathon.

How do you do that? Ýou get some good shoes and drink a lot of water.
