That´s it for season 8, could have been better but also much worse. Still, didn´t feel like a good season finale, no “dun-dun-dun” left for hiatus.

I just want to say thank you for all the wonderful gifs. They are perfectly captured moments and I don’t know how you do it. Thanks for all the work you all have done. I still don’t know how you’ve managed even for 1 season. It has to be so much work. Thanks for probably one of, if not the best AOL site on the net!

These are all great shots. As usual. But the one with the flags made me giggle. I bet they had to re-shoot that scene because he was giggling too.
I don’t know if the restaurant is really dead yet. It looked like Steve and Danny are being pushed out by Kamekona and they will be the silent partners instead (if Danny can ever be silent). I was hoping for a quick, merciful death for it but it looks like it may be a slow painful one for the restaurant and eye rolls for those of us who think it’s time to end the story.
Does anyone like the restaurant story? Maybe someone can explain it to me and show me what I am missing.

I feel the restaurant was an after thought,and now they don’t know what to do with it. Having Kamekona set it up, makes sense, but he has his shrimp truck to look after.
No I don’t think the restaurant is a good storyline.

Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into this site.The only thing I use my I Pad for is to look at this site and look up meatloaf recipes. So, again , Thank you. I think last weeks episode would have been a better season finale than this one. Thought the last fight scene was a bit over the top, but, oh well. I think Steve should be the brains of the operations and let the kids handle the brawn .I thought the restaurant was a bad idea from the start, but with Kamekona taking over, maybe it will be endurable. It is too funny that now it will be called” Kamekonas” instead of “Steves”. An Italian restaurant? In the heart of Chinatown? Really?! Oh well, we will have to see how that turns out. I see that CBS is showing reruns for now. And there is always TNT. It”s going to be a long summer.

Preferly with Danny in it. Cooking his pasta with ketchup sauce. Not the old Danny from the first seasons. The whiny Danny of late. It’s a disgrace what the writers did to his character.

To me, this should have been ep. 24 and last week should have been, and would have been, a much greater finale!
In the early days the restaurant made me giggle. I worked for a man who wrote a book and taught about starting a business. It was if someone had read the book and then have them do the complete opposite, as if they we’re supposed to fail. But with Kamekona taking over I think it actually has a chance to make money. Besides they owe him. He and Flippa lost the other truck because of 5 0.

I’m quite sure the restaurant storyline is staying esp since Kamekona has stepped in. I must say though it makes more sense esp with them being silent partners rather than actually running the business for sure!
I also thought the finale was a bit flat. It left us with whether or not Adam killed his sister which was not high drama that usually comes at season’s end. I am truly looking forward to S9!

The finale was decent because it focused on one story, but a Russian submarine that close to Waikiki Beach is just laughable! And the fight scene dragged on waaaayyyy too long, but I never really care about fight scenes anyway.
As for Adam. I’m sort of hoping he did it so he’ll stay on the mainland and we won’t have to waste anymore time on him. He’s pretty, but dumb as a rock! LOL!
Hopefully, the restaurant story ends with Kamekona taking full control.
In spite of Steve’s bland and colorless wardrobe, I thought Steve/Alex looked really good this episode so nice gifs! 🙂

First off, thank you ladies for all the great gifs throughout the H50 season. I was a bit disappointed in the season finale. If Steve/Alex wasn’t in it, it would have been boring! The previous episode with Joe White was much better. And, I hope it’s good-bye to the restaurant endeavor. It doesn’t seem like something Steve would do. I hope next season Steve gets a serious love interest.

Thank you Paula and FOYeur for all the time and energy you put in. This site is the first I go to. Also thought the episode before last was much better than the finale. It gave you the opportunity to see the close relationship Steve has with Joe White and the possibility of Steve being Junior’s “Joe White”.
For next season I hope Adam is just talked about like Kono and he remains wherever she may be. Unfortunately the writers had Tanya wondering about the gun she saw in his home so maybe we will see more of him..
I am confused about why people are asking if Alex has signed for another year. I just assumed he’s in since Season 9 is a go and I can’t see H5O without him. Plus the fact he had said in an interview he would be interested for the show to continue especially since it provides job opportunities to so many people on Oahu. There’s no show without him and as far as Danny goes, I would never miss that character. Hopefully for next season we see Alex as sexy as ever. TIme to take a cold shower!

It was such a so so season. And really that of wished there was more of McGrover as love those two.
And really think that for all the hard work as AOL needs to be a producer IMHO. And really writing an episode and directing one.
And that really Adam hope he is not a killer. And that he may want to have Tani think that he is one but turns out all good but who knows.
That Russian thing was just way too over the top and really only the FBI or State Department could only arrest someone like that. Not Five 0!
Episode 6/10 but season 7/10! Hits and misses!

The episode was OK but certainly not season finale material. I laughed at the submarine. Waikiki Beach is shallow for 1-2 miles out; I’ve swum there. No submarine could EVER have come that close to shore! It would have gotten stuck in the sand.
The final audience numbers are horrible: Only 6.5 million viewers watched the season finale, possibly the lowest audience number in the the eight seasons of the show. The audience numbers dropped like a rock for the last ten episodes. The show started losing audience members when it was off the air for four weeks for dumb NCAA basketball. It seems that people left and then forgot to come back when the show came back on the air.
I have a theory–the hard-core McDanno shippers have abandoned the show. They finally realize that Peter’s been stringing them along for eight years. Their dream of a romantic McDanno couple is never going to happen. The writers didn’t give us funny carguments this year, either. All we got was restaurant bickering, which was negative and nasty. I felt a distinct coldness and growing distance between Steve and Danny this year. And then Danny appeared and then mysteriously disappeared in episodes. He was there at the beginning, but when the team stormed the enemy, suddenly he was absent, with no comment or explanation by the other characters. And then he was there again at the end. Weird. I know it’s due to Scott’s schedule.
On Scott Caan fan twitter sites, fans are openly asking ‘Where’s Danny?” and “Where’s the guy we love? Please bring back the old Danny.” The fans who love Danny are beginning to disappear, too.
So, let’s see what Season Nine brings. I hope everyone is having a restful and enjoyable break before shooting starts again.

I thought Season 8 was okay, certainly not the worst. I agree that Episode 24 should have been the finale. The finale was so full of goofy stuff. I really wish for once, they would have an episode that had no ‘ridiculous’ and ‘dumb’ in it. With Lenkov in charge, there’s no hope for that.

I liked this episode more as I thought I would. It was entertaining. Ridiculous, but entertaining. By no means finale material. I knew that 8.24 should have been the finale and I was right. They even filmed episode 24 last, so why not? Well, we all know why, don’t we? And that is exactly what hurts the show big time. In or out, not take the money and run…
Steve was large and in charge and got the job done (again). And I love watching him doing so. The fight was amazing and I spotted some Alex’ moves, but what else is new after seeing his moves in the video out of his garage-gym.
Hated, that Steve apologized to Danny. Will I ever see Danny apologizing for being mean, rude, disrespectful and insulting? Sigh. But now, with the restaurant being on track maybe there is not much future left for Detective Danny. I always suspected the storyline was written to provide an opportunity for D’s way out. Like the pregnance test for Kono last season.
Paula, the first gif makes me giggle like an idiot. That MOUTH! Has he ever done that before?

Now I am not trying to anger you ladies, but the 4th and 5th pictures make me worried about Alex. I am afraid that by the time the hiatus is over, he is going to be completely gray and quite possibly bald. He needs to grow his hair out again. I know that having roots touched up can be a pain the neck , (personal experience) but it can be done. He also needs to shave. I adore the scruff, however, it can not be dyed and it ages him way too much. Between the weight loss and the hair thing. I worry if all is well with him.

I found your statement just a tad melodramatic to say the least.
First of all why are you worried?
Secondly, people do not turn bald in 3 months time, unless they are severely ill – which Alex does not seem to be from the few hiatus pictures we have seen thus far.
Thirdly, Alex has been turning gray since 2009. Nothing wrong with turning gray. Some embrace it, others not.
Fouthly – there is no need for him to do anything. If he does not want to shave, that is his choice.
And the “weight loss” thing – I personally believe that Alex is keeping himself healthy and trim at the moment. And less weight is always better than more weight (unless of course when one is anorexic – which he is clearly not)

I think Alex’s been doing a lot of Brazilian Jujitsu this year, which is keeping him lean and toned. He’s working hard to catch up to Scott’s black belt! He’s moving ahead by leaps and bounds.
In a video on one of Scott Caan’s fan site, the gentleman being interviewed is asked who are the best martial arts actors of all, in movies and TV. His TOP TWO PICKS (for both movies and TV!!!) are “Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan, because they are serious martial arts experts.”
Way COOL! Our guys are the best! I have a feeling that they’re both very well respected in the martial arts world, because both of them have achieved their success through hard work and intense study.

As I stated, I like the scruffy look. It makes him look very rugged. I’m not so sure about shaving or not, being completley his choice. It would seem that the show runners have a certain look that they want portrayed. Over various hiatuses Alex has had a Mohawk. Not a good look for a Navy SEAL. Or a full out overgrown beard. Also, not a good look for a Navy Commander. Let’s not forget about the disasterous attempts to cover his back and pec tattoos. Not sure I understand the reason for that except the producers going for an image. I think the overly gray scruff ages him and can be easily remedied. Actresses do all sorts of things to look a certain way for a role. Why should it not be the same for the men?

I’m getting a little uneasy as regards S9. Surely by now CBS should have confirmed if Alex has signed or not? Or are they withholding the info as a marketing strategy unknown to us?Or are they still negotiating? Or is it so OBVIOUS he’ll be there that there’s no need to confirm?

I don’t think CBS would announce the 9th season without Alex O’Loughlin. I’m sure that Chi, Gorge, Meghan and Beulah are all signed. I’m not sure about Scott. Alex did say in his March 2018 interviews that “if I can reach some kind of accommodation with CBS, I can see another season” which suggests to me that he might be negotiating for less time on screen, too.
He’s a generous guy to continue on with the series so that the cast and crew are employed for another year. Alex doesn’t need the money and he’s exhausted by the end of every year. I suspect he’s exhausted throughout the year. So, he’s doing this for other people, not himself. He probably wants to do other projects AND spend more time with his family.

“Alex doesn’t need the money” ? Says who? Everyone needs and wants money. And preferably more than less. Even before he became as successful as he is now, he admitted to enjoying the finer things in life. Expensive shoes, suits, watches etc. He even referred to himself as somewhat of a shopping snob. Everybody goes to work for a paycheck. That’s why it is called work and not a hobby. According to last years negotiations with GP and DDL, it was said that Alex and Scott were making the same salary, with Scott appearing in less episodes. I certainly think the show could go on without Danno. No so without Commander McGarrett. It was, is and always will be his show. IMO Alex would be wise to negotiate for more creative input to the show. Storylines directing etc. Nobody knows Steve better than Alex. Certainly better than the juvenile writing staff and even the EP. Less heavy duty action scenes, more use of stunt doubles, scenes shot out of sequence and so on. Even when Alex was in rehab, he only missed one episode. The show would not survive with less Steve McGarrett. Just no.

Just a quick thought before I dash out again. I have not heard anything official regarding either AOL or SC signing on for S9.
Some TV site bloggers are saying that they “hear” that they are both returning but that is not official confirmation. We need to get that from PL or CBS, who have remained silent.
When Blue Bloods and NCIS were renewed, the official announcement and the fact that Tom Selleck and Mark Harmon would be returning were almost simultaneous.
My gut feeling is that Alex has either signed or is about to sign. I am not sure about SC so if they are going to do what they did last June 30, 017 with regard to DDK and GP, then we may not hear anything for a while. It is annoying and frustrating for us all. I cannot imagine that they would not try to negotiate in good faith with AOL and give him the same consideration they gave SC for years. In SC’s case, all I can think of is that he wants either to be gone entirely or just do an occasional guest starring appearance. CBS makes that decision,not the fans.
And I may be entirely wrong.

Mamayorkie, I agree with your assessment. I believe that CBS will accommodate any requests that Alex asks for, since he’s the show. He’s been a loyal soldier for eight years. I’ve read on several Scott Caan fan twitter sites that his dad James Caan did a radio interview in late April 2018 and said that Scott is through with the show. No official announcement. If true, they’ll handle it exactly the same way they did with Grace and Daniel leaving – telling us at the last minute, right before shooting begins in early July. There has been some foreshadowing. Danny’s been talking about retiring during the past two years. Soooooo, perhaps he finally decides to do it. Steve appears to be in good health. That would be the one reason Danny would stay.
So, let’s see what happens.

TATTOO QUESTION: Ladies, in recent photos from his BJJ sessions, it looks like Alex has had the tattoo on his left chest (above his nipple) removed. Not the gecko (at least I think that’s still there)…the other one. I somehow missed this from previous comments. Is this new or did this happen a long time ago (and I’m just slow)? Thanks once again for all the great photos and gifs!

I think the gecko tattoo is still there but it looks like the other one is not from the look of the pics. I think the pics are from either April or May but I’m not really sure I’ll look into it for you.

Unfortunately none of the BJJ pictures are really good quality and even the other tattoos look a bit blurry. But as far as I could see on some of them, is that the signs are there that the red tattoo is still there.
I guess that it has faded quite a bit from the harsh Hawaii sun and all the sea water.
I have not really studied it all yet and I guess we will have to wait for some better quality shirtless pictures, to really say for sure what is happening there. Unfortunately most shirtless pictures we get are of Steve, and for Steve they hide those nipple tattoos of Alex in any case. 😦

It seems that long exposure under the sun can make tatoos fade away with time. I’m not sure about sea water. If only sun could absorb the tatoo he added to the beautiful one he had on his lower back! Not a nice wish, though. It was his decision and as such, I have to respect it.
