#H50 8.13 – not so hyper competetive Steve

Not much to gif, I tried to capture something. I watched the epi with one eye only, did I miss something 😛

Except for the opening bit it was grim. Still I loved the bit where Steve told Danny that “the kids” had called. 😆

  3. Yeah as Tani and Junior are that. But still Steve really loves being competitive.

This episode focused on Grover, so we didn’t see much of Steve. I love the water scenes.,

I’d say your one eye captured Steve quite nicely both at work and play!! I esp like him at play on the surf board focusing on that left arm movement in the wet suit top and that FAB
    physique!! 😍Very sexy!! ❤❤❤

The temperature here outside is well below freezing but my temperature currently is quite the opposite thanks to your gifs Paula!😗

  7. True, we didn’t get much of Steve in this episode, but we can always count on you Paula to make the best of what we do get. ♥
I loved seeing the competitive Steve with Tani ♥ But one thing I ask is…Why do they insist on putting more clothes on Steve when Alex has such a magnificent physique? Yes, I loved seeing his muscles rippling under that wetsuit top. However all natural would have done just as well if not better IMO. ♥ I know I’m objectifying our man and that there is more to Alex then his stunning good looks. So please forgive me when I get overwhelmed by him so much so that I always find myself wanting MORE. ♥

Now, is Steve dating his co-worker Tani? My question is probably because I don’t like her (not that she needs me to). She’s TOO aggressive, it’s unpleasant when she’s not being a police person. Alex is so nice to look at – hope he lets his hair grow a wee bit longer (HIS choice).

I agree. His body is in great shape as always but he does appear to be much leaner.

      • True ladies. Alex has said that he has to put on weight at the beginning of each season because he works so long and hard that he looses the weight throughout the season. He doesn’t have time to work out and keep the muscle on. Must be his high metabolism. 😉

        • Oh, one more thing. Having met this gorgeous man in person he is much slimmer in person then we see on TV. He is very fit and lean and far from “skinny.” Just ask my right hand that was around his waist when we took a pic together. A memory I will never forget. *sigh* ♥

This episode was so boring that I fast forwarded a couple of scenes. I think we’ve seen all of Grover’s backstory we need to see. We need more Steve! 😉

I love the episode, too–emotional, claustrophobic, powerful and intensely personal for Grover. He blew it once before and he’s NOT going to blow it this time. He’s going to save this man’s life.

The writers are doing new and different things with the show this year. I love Chi and love any episode that features him because he’s a great actor. I’m happy when they give him episodes where we get to see what a great actor he is. He kills it every time. I love his family and I was really glad to see Grover and his wife again. I miss the Grover family unit.

I agree. I also loved this epi and Chi was excellent! I have loved him since Boston Public. I also must add that for the most part I feel that the epis have improved and that seems promising for upcoming storylines (hopefully)!! 😱

I agree, Kath40. Why did he have to wear a wet suit top? Paula, you did capture the best scenes from that episode. Well done!

One thing which confused me was I thought Grover moved to Hawaii because of Witness Protection. Remember the episode when his family was fleeing with their “handler”? Now, it seems as if he left Chicago because he needed to escape the memories. Did I totally get that wrong? I thought the actors did a wonderful job with the story, however, I personally felt like Danny would have been more vocal with Steve if this episode was real life.

See how they’re phasing Danny out? He was a nothing burger in this episode–Two or three tiny scenes, he was on screen maybe two minutes during the entire episode. And he didn’t have much interaction with Steve, either. But they can count that he “appeared” in this episode.

      • Not so sure your suspicions of phasing Danny out are good. You must remember it is not just that Scott is in less episodes, he is also not there for filming a 3rd of the time. He works 2 weeks and takes 1 week off. It does not always follow the time of episodes as they are filmed. So he is also not there for parts of the time of filming of those episodes where he is in.
I highly doubt if Scott would leave the show before it ends. He gets paid well at a job where he calls the shots of when he works. Can’t see him leave that before he has to or unless he gets offered the role of a lifetime somewhere else..

FOYeur, I hope you’re right. It looks like Scott negotiated less screen time than 20 episodes this year. He essentially wasn’t in this episode — a few short scenes adding up to 30 seconds screen time. So, of the 13 episodes we’ve seen this year, he’s really been in 8 + 1/10th. In Scott’s defense, he’s missing out on his daughter’s life. That must emotionally tug at him all the time. He’s watching her grow up via Skype. Alex goes home to his family every night. Scott does not, when he’s in Hawaii filming.

    • Hi Sherri
The witness protection thing came from Grovers younger years, before he was even married. He was a rookie cop from Chicago doing undercover work for the FBI in a different place (think NY or somewhere like that) – in episode 6:19
There was another episode (Epi 4:15) where they told his story of why he came to Hawaii, because of the suicide murder of the man and his little boy.

Sherri, you’re right, Grover does have two different storylines for coming to Hawaii. Remember the episode where Grover’s family suddenly vanished and were being hunted by killers? They all had bug-out bags for a quick escape if they were discovered. But, if he’s in witness protection, the last thing he would ever be allowed to do would be to become the head of SWAT in Hawaii! When you’re in Witness Protection, you assume new identities and become invisible. The goal is to be impossible to find.

Interesting contradictions and I never really thought about that before.

  15. Yeah as really there are two different story lines. And in that of in the Chi really delivering it. He is the most powerful actor on the show. Of course they all are. As it is an ensemble. But really when it comes to pieces like these. He really stands out. With his emotions not just words.
Glad they treated this not with kid gloves but head on
Grover empathy and sympathy made this the best episode of season 8 and of all time up there IMHO. 10/10!
