Life around #AlexOLoughlin – a week in review (15 – 24 Jul 2017)

Five years ago when we started this site, we mainly did it to have some fun in our own way with our online friends who also adored Alex. At the time there were a number of fansites for Alex and they were doing a great job at keeping fans updated on a daily basis about things around Alex and Hawaii Five-0. We were not really a news site, but more of just a fun site. Since then nearly all of the worthwhile sites have closed down – all for different reasons. We personally still miss them all dearly.

Seeing such a lot of the old information getting lost, we started to repost some of the old articles and interviews and do transcripts of most of the videos as well. But our main focus always remained at sharing as many good quality pictures (old and new) of Alex as we can find, as well as Paula’s animated gifs and picture art of Alex. We also had some fun incorporating them with studies of Alex and his work.

We only started doing these weekly review post 2 years ago when our friends at AOL.WorldWide stopped updating their site and doing these weekly updates. We saw a very time-consuming void that needed to be filled and we took up the task and added our own flair to it. However, since then another site also started doing wrap-ups and we see no need for all this double work in a relatively small fandom. We do not want to just duplicate things and this will, therefore, be our last weekly wrap for the time being – Until we find a different way to keep you entertained with the latest news and keep the discussions going.

A matter that also disheartened us during this past week, is that some people are determined to suck the life out of being a fan and having fun on social media. A ‘photographer’ who has been hanging around the set for the past 2 seasons, whose pictures everybody have been sharing for a long time already, got his tail in a twist because people have been sharing his pictures and using them in videos, without giving him credit. Trust me we can sympathize with him, because we know the feeling. He subsequently locked his Twitter account and only direct followers can see his pictures. He, however, forgot, that now those few who do have access there, can post his pictures (with seemingly full credit to him) and everybody can see it, but none of the links to his pages works for those who do not follow him. Clever dear man – Cut off your nose to spite your face? Now others actually get the credit for his hard work – even if they ‘share’ where that they got it from him? And in my experience, in a few weeks from now, those random set pictures will be old news and nobody will even bother about them anymore.

 

I also need to add to that, that even after promoting this person’s pages (specifically mentioning him in last week’s post) and sharing the links to his pictures and videos, he decided to block us for some reason. Most probably because we did not try to suck up to him or something – sorry, but we are not in the ass-kissing business. Neither do we care to share pictures shared exclusively to specific sites or from accounts that are locked.

We all are here to have some fun with Alex as fans and unnecessary pettiness of exclusivity only spoils the fun. We honestly want no part in that. Thank you to those who share their pictures freely with other fans. Only a few people are ever that lucky to find the opportunity to get close to Alex. And we appreciate every single one of you who are willing to share those few precious moments with the rest of us.

So let’s get on with the business of having fun with Alex …..

Hawaii Five-0 News for the week:

• The major Hawaii Five-0 news for the week was the announcement if the new cast members and the promotion some of the local cast got on the show.

Hawaii Five-0″ announces 3 new cast members:CBS says Ian Anthony Dale, Meaghan Rath and Beulah Koale are set to join the cast of “Hawaii Five-0” with its eighth season; Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park recently left the police drama.

Dale has had a recurring role on “Hawaii Five-0” as Adam Noshimuri since season two; he will be recruited by Five-0 head Steve McGarrett to work on the team. This summer, he is starring in CBS’ suspense thriller “Salvation.”

Rath will play Tani Rey, who is recruited from her job as a lifeguard at a hotel pool. The actress starred in the series “Being Human” and “Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life.”

Koale will play Junior Reigns, a former NAVY Seal who just returned from serving and is looking for a new job. He appears in the forthcoming feature “Thank You for Your Service.”

Continuing “Hawaii Five-0″ cast members include Alex O’Loughlin, Scott Caan, Chi McBride and Jorge Garcia. The new season begins Sept. 29.

Hawaii actors Chun, Wily, Balmilero join main ‘Five-0’ castFans may have missed the fact that along with Alex O’Loughlin, Scott Caan, Chi McBride and Jorge Garcia, recurring cast members Taylor Wily, Kimee Balmilero and Dennis Chun were also listed in the announcement as starring cast members. That means that along with Dale, the three have been elevated to series regulars.
