The chance to meet #AlexOLoughlin while visiting the #H50 set.

Over the years Hawaii Five-0 have had a number of these type of auctions to visit the set of Hawaii Five-0, but none of them ever gave the opportunity of actually meeting Alex O’Loughlin himself.

  1. What a wonderful opportunity, if only I had that kind of money 😉

  2. And here. Hawaii is just in another galaxy. I’m green of jalousy thinking of the lucky winners.

  3. Since it includes 2 people you can always find someone else and both pay half. That might be the affordable way to do it. The only problem is the date…you have to work around them, don’t you? Or is it “I am in Oahu on these dates, can you accommodate us?”

  4. I’ve been a fan since Moonlight, and think this would be one of the most wonderful opportunities I could ever have! But, even if I could afford a bid, and I was lucky enough to win, I’d have to arrange round trip transportation (Fayetteville NC), hotel plus meal expenditures and probably bear the cost of getting myself to and from the set. Not saying he’s not worth it, but I’d have better luck when I visit Hawaii next year, and, by the grace of God, catch a glimpse of my idol at Honolulu International!

OMG! Sorry to post this on this board and I hope I just read TV Line wrong, but not happy about DDK and GP.

Once again to all of you, I apologize. I just went on my lunch break and went into the entertainment section of Yahoo. It just shocked me.

    • No apology needed.
I think everybody is a bit shocked.
But I must say, it is not unexpected.
DDK did say on IG at some stage that Scott and Alex will be in Season 8, but he never mentioned himself. So I guess he knew then already.

I did notice that! Also, I’m not surprised since it’s CBS. Unless you’re a Producer or Actor that’s making them millions, they don’t really show much appreciation. Even then you have to watch your back.. They’ll be missed, but I hope to find them both on other networks, that seem more appreciative.

Oh my gosh, I’m totally shocked about DDK! I kind of xpected that Grace was leaving, but not DDK! I never saw that coming at all. I really like him and he’s always been a great part of the show. I’m bummed to hear he’s leaving. Bummer. But it looks like Scott is staying? Otherwise, Alex will be the only original cast member still on the show. Wow, with all those cast members leaving, Season Eight may well be the last year.

Ok, now that the shock has worn off, 7 years can be a long time to stay on a show. If you want to branch off into different roles or aspects of entertainment it does monopolize a lot of your time being on a television series that shoots 20+ episodes. I know Grace filmed a movie during last season. Daniel was on Broadway and now producing. I suppose as you get older priorities change and you want to try other things. I guess this was a good time to move on if CBS wouldn’t budge in contract negotiations it would give them a reason to move on. The show won’t be the same, but Alex/Steve does the mentoring thing well so the new addition will be interesting. I know the original H50 didn’t end with all of the original cast members, I’ll just have to get used to this one.

I posted this on the other thread and now here in case someone wants to read it for themselves and draw their own conclusions.

    Now we have an answer.

Well, it is in quotes and Variety and TV Line both carried it, so it looks authentic to me. Truthfully, I never even considered it could be about money and thought it was a time off issue. Truly surprised more about Daniel than Grace. Here is PL’s quote from Variety.

“I will never forget meeting Daniel while still writing the pilot and being certain there was no other actor who I’d want to play Chin Ho Kelly,” shworunner Peter M. Lenkov said in a statement. “Needless to say, Daniel has been an instrumental part of the success of Hawaii Five-0 over the past seven seasons and it has personally been a privilege to know him.

“Grace’s presence gave Hawaii Five-0 a beauty and serenity to each episode,” the EP continued. “She was the consummate collaborator, helping build her character from Day 1. They will always be ohana to us, we will miss them and we wish them both all the best.”

And that seems to settle that.

    • According to TV Line: Kim is an executive producer on The Good Doctor, ABC’s new medical drama premiering this fall and starring Freddie Highmore. So it does look like he’s at a new network.

I’m not too surprised about Grace not coming back. The Season 7 episode that had Kono heading to the mainland had me thinking. Surprised about DDK but if he is working as executive producer elsewhere its hard to juggle to many jobs. Wish him the best. Hopefully Grover will still be there. Season 8 may be the last that we have Hawaii 5-0. Hope I’m wrong.

Wow, the abrupt endings for two major characters is going to be weird. The funny thing is that in the show’s universe, Steve would never let them just leave. So they’re screwing up Steve’s, Kono’s, and Chin’s characters. Oh well, I guess the positive is no more Abby (couldn’t stand her). Not crazy about Adam, but I like the actor so maybe he and Kono split and he becomes a regular?

Well not shocked about DDK and Grace; writing was on the wall.

Pretty juiced about Alex’s donation for the cause tho!! I can’t do it, but I hope it goes for big $$ and that the generous winner has the day of a lifetime!!

Grace, where was the writing on the wall for DDK? I never saw that at all. He got a more compelling storyline this year with the addition of the little girl in his life. So I’m totally shocked and bummed out. I’ve always really liked DDK, on Lost and on Five-O.

        I like him too.

He’s been branching out and testing his wings. I think he has bigger aspirations now than playing third lead on an aging, and limping, procedural. He’s directed and is now producing. He starred on Broadway. If he’s gonna continue to act, I believe he would want to be the lead. Cos he can, AND to open that door for more Asian actors.

I’m really happy for Daniel –I hope he does land the lead in a TV series. I’m just sad for me. He has been doing wonderful things and really spreading his wings in all directions creatively.

Season 8 will be quite interesting. Read online a new character named Tani will eventually be introduced. She gets kicked out of the police academy and joins 5-O. My wish, which has nothing to do with the storyline, is that Alex’s hair will no longer be dyed to hide the gray.

Have heard that Daniel really enjoyed being on Broadway, and would like to do more theater. Also rumors that Grace is pregnant. If so, she may not want to have 2 children, and not be with them.
Hope this isn’t the handwriting, on the wall. Let’s hope that this doesn’t start the final bell ringing for Hawaii 5-0. What would we do without our Alex fix?

I’m reading that they both left because they couldn’t get salary parity with Alex and Scott. Sigh. CBS can be really tight with salaries, and other great actors have left hit series for similar reasons.

I read that the characters won’t even appear in any new episodes. Their absences will be explained by other characters. So, we don’t even get to have onscreen farewells for two of my very favorite characters. I was hoping that CBS could bring them back for an episode or two as guest stars, in order to give them proper farewells. CBS is also known for paying its female stars much lower salaries than the male stars.

I’m gonna miss them a lot. Those four characters have great chemistry — they ARE the Hawaii Five-O that we all love. “All for one and one for all!” It will be a very different show without them.

      I’m sad tonight.

Well, at least Kono got on a plane to Kansas. I can’t begin to say how much I would love to meet Alex on set. I had my picture taken with him at SOTB but it was a very brief encounter. The trip itself would be at a thousand dollars for a couple of days, but that doesn’t include the auction itself. Oh well.

Good luck to the winning bidder… hope lots of cash is raised towards something close to Alex’s heart I would loved to have the money to be the winner & get to meet Alex..but then getting to Hawaii would be next hurdle to climb… shocked about Grace & DDK leaving…. can’t see any future series of H50 packing a punch like the original cast…. I believe the characters should be allowed to do a couple of episodes to give us an idea why they are disappearing…. can imagine CBS not being to happy with losing stars to other TV networks…. it’s a bitter pill to swallow… I definitely think s8 will be the final one….. shame as the previous series ran for 20yrs & had lots of fans …. perhaps a petition who knows… whatever the stars go on to do I’m sure we’ll support & follow with much eagerness…

Firstly, I wish Alex much success with Taylor’s Gift! Wish I could be involved but cannot.

Secondly, I am sorry to hear that Daniel and Grace will not be returning, even though the end of S7 signified that some changes might be taking place. I do like Daniel very much but I love Grace because she was such a badass when it came to kicking butt and I loved the strength of her character. Both will sorely be missed.

Thirdly, it would be callous on the part of the show and/or CBS to just let key characters not come back for at least 1 or 2 episodes to finalize their departures!! The least they can do is give closure to the many fans who help to maintain the ratings that keeps the show going!!!!

I agree. And if Season 8 is going to be the last maybe Chin and Kono could appear in the very last episode of H5O
