Look, I love this show. This show is my job. This is my show. I like doing more work than anyone else connected to the show. I have from the beginning, and I will to the end. This is my life, and it’s all I have. I don’t have time to go do films. I don’t have the luxury of gaps in my schedule so I can go and do passion projects. I miss that, but I’m fully committed to Hawaii Five-0 and I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity I’ve been given.

I get really mad when I’m misquoted. I try to be honest with the press. I don’t give one-word answers, and I like to say what I think. I’ve got a bit of a sense of humour. But when I’m misquoted and painted in a certain way, it makes me not want to do press. I’m ferociously protective of this show, so I would like to meet that journalist again on a carpet.

Update:

Link to the original article where Alex was misquoted:

Alex O’Loughlin Ponders Future on ‘Hawaii Five-0′ – 25 October 2013

You can read my thoughts and comments on both the articles at the bottom of each one. As well as the video transcript of the original interview.

You will see that it was mostly other people with comments and making up their own articles afterwards, who took the original article further and out of context.

    • I have added the links to the 2 original articles in the post above.
It happened at the end of 2013 with an interview and article about the AIF event where Alex received a reward. And then he responded at the press converence the next month after that.

Does anyone have a link to the misquote Alex is referring to? I’m so proud of him for not taking any BS.

Thanks for posting this. I wondered about some of the articles. He’d never been that open in any of the articles I’ve seen. I’m sorry that he was misquoted. I’m sorry for him, because he seems like a decent person that tries to be kind to everyone. This seems to be habitual for the media about a lot of things lately.

    • Many of the journalist take articles from other journalist and publications, and then with warped headlines they create the wrong impression about the original. They normally just want to create sensation and get people to read their nonsense.
And fans easily run with the nonsens and rarely go back to find the original and see for themselves.

  9. This is the Alex we all know and love. He gives full answers and speaks his mind. I understand that his Aussie humor can lead to miss quotes when the media doesn’t get that he’s goofing with them especially if they misinterpret someone else’s interview and put their own twist on it.
As long as I’ve been following Alex (2007) he has always putt 100% of himself and his heart into all he does. ♥

  11. To misquote an artist, any artist, is always very disrespectful. But to misquote such an honest, sincere man as Alex makes me furious.

Love this post FOYeur too for another reason. Because it is a great follow-up post to “It’s been a long and hard road…” Maybe, just maybe it makes some people think. At least I hope so.
