We continue our story from here.
Well that was another episode with lots of entertainment, drama and suspense. One of those that can make you forget a multitude of sins, and there were quite a number of those to go around as usual. But in the end there was nothing really special or mind blowing about it. It was just another episode …. it leaves me with not much to say.
My disappointments of the episode:
- Nahele’s story with his father ‘resolved’ by the father’s death without any exploration into it. It feels like a missed opportunity.
Koala Smartass: But after 6 years you should know that it is the way it is done. The procedural always comes before the exploration of a good story.
- Once again being in pursuit of armed and dangerous criminals in the woods, but chatting away like you are on a stroll. Please, Steve is a highly trained Navy SEAL. Stop letting him act like he does not know anything about tracking somebody.
Koala Smartass: But that is the way it has been done since the start. You’ve got to have a discussion (cargument) at the worst possible time. That is the signature of the show so to speak.
- Once again Adam and Kono crying and kissing – when will this ever stop? Please just do something more interesting with these two characters.
Koala Smartass: Like what? You are just pissed off because you are a McKono shipper.
Things I liked:
- The use of recurring characters (criminals) in one episode. We felt more connected to them.
- I don’t know if it was just the director doing a better job, or the casting being done more sensibly than last week, but the guest cast were really good this time around. I kind of did not mind that they took so much time in the show away from Steve.
- Thank you for continuing the Nahele story. at least it gives Steve a story aside from work. Some great potential there. Hope to see it go somewhere……
And that was Steve’s story for:
Hawaii Five-0 – Episode 6:21
Ka Pono Ku’oko’a (The Cost of Freedom)
Written by: John Dove
Directed by: Peter Weller
To be continued …….
This was a good (not great, not awesome) episode, far better than the previous week. It had actors that were credible and some twists and turns that kept my mind from wandering to look for a(nother) snack. I like when the team works all together on a case. For me the best part was the end. Seeing Steve comfort Nahele was heartwarming. Who better than Steve knows what it feels like to have no family. Hopefully we’ll get to see more of this mentoring relationship in s7.

Totally agree with you about killing off Nahele’s father. Why even bother to introduce him? There could have been numerous excellent stories using that arc. But I don’t think the ending to this ep could have been any better played — Alex nailed it. Just hope they explore this new development.

Great episode. I liked it very much, it was thrilling and heartbreaking! But I am done with Adam, he made Kono a cry baby. It’s the only thing she does by now. So I didn’t really care about him. I disagree a little bit about Steve in the jungle, for me he only reacted to Danny who does not know when to shut up. His ‘once a criminal….’ bothered me big time. But enough of these characters it is about Steve. And for me his scenes with Nahele were perfect. Alex nailed it as Ocean said. The beginning, his concern that something has happened to Nahele, his ‘economic crisis?’ face 😆 and then the end. Oh my… Sniffle. That was amazing. I so want more storylines with Steve and Nahele. I want him to adopt Nahele. I want more Steve hugs. I can’t be the only one?
One thing surprised me: Did we know that Nahele’s father was in prison? What did I miss? The last thing I know is that Steve told Duke to go to Nahele’s father and that he will meet him there. That’s it. No word about him after christmas as far as I remember. Geez. Just a little mention writers. Can’t be that difficult.
So I loved it. It had in charge Steve and caring Steve. What’s not to love?
Great pics, pink beast (I missed that!), green jungle eyes and the last one…. Le Sigh!

I too enjoyed this episode and love nahale, I think he’s a great fit on the show. I’d like Steve to adopt him. I’m interested to see where the writers go with that
