My Thoughts: Not really anything in this article that we have not heard many times in other articles before, but we hope you enjoy all these beautiful pictures of Mick. There is always place in our hearts for more Mick ❤
Vampire stories have been messing with Alex O’Loughlin’s mind ever since he was a teenager.
It’s no wonder, then, that the obsession would eventually turn O’Loughlin into a vampire — at least on TV. The 32-year-old Australian actor tops the cast of Moonlight, a rookie American series that revolves around Mick St. John, a private investigator in Los Angeles who happens to be a vampire.
Unlike others of his kind, however, Mick likes to help people rather than merely feeding on their blood. “I have always wanted to play a vampire,” exclaims O’Loughlin, whose favourite movies as a teen included such vampire flicks as 1983’s The Hunger and 1987’s The Lost Boys.
Moonlight has met with mixed results since its debut in September. Nielsen ratings in the U.S. peg the show in 52nd place among all prime-time network series, drawing an average of only 8.4 million viewers per week. Moonlight is drawing a respectable core group of fans, thanks in part to storylines that can mess with your mind as they strike a balance between the credible and the bizarre.
Tonight’s episode of the series finds Mick hot on the trail of an assassin after his longtime pal Josef (Jason Dohring) becomes the target of an attempted hit. The case leads Mick to discover a bizarre secret about his best friend.
O’Loughlin is no stranger to being accused of having bizarre secrets in his own life. A number of newspaper and Internet reports claimed he was actually the son of Bon Scott, the late frontman for AC/DC. O’Loughlin scotched that rumour at a CBS press conference for Moonlight in Los Angeles. “My mom called me and she was very upset — publicly labelled as a groupie and, therefore, a hussy and a harlot, which isn’t true at all,” O’Loughlin recalled. “And so, I suppose it’s probably a good time to say, since he’s passed on and he can’t speak the truth, I should speak for Bon and say that I’m pretty sure he’s not my dad.”
So, who is his dad? “My father is a teacher in Sydney,” O’Loughlin says. “He teaches physics and astronomy at a private boys’ school.”
Just as well. Being the secret son of a rock star might have messed with O’Loughlin’s mind even more.
