Remember today is SOTB day and the red carpet should be starting around 5 or 6 pm Hawaiian time (12 hours behind out blog time) Let’s hope the weather will play along and proceedings will take place as planned.

If you need to find the time in your zone, here is the link to an easy to use timezone converter.

This is a post to help you to find links of possible live stream broadcasts of the event and also accounts to follow, in order to get the best up to date information and pictures surrounding the event. Some old #H50 Trivia with #AlexOLoughlin

While we are all waiting for SOTB fun to start later today ……

This is some trivia compiled by Mizz and originally posted on AOLR

– it covers some of the trivia around the show up to Season 2

  • The Ilikai condo/apartment building in Waikiki is featured in the show’s opening credits, with Alex O’Loughlin standing on the lanai of penthouse #2613, as Jack Lord did in the original series. The scene was shot on Tuesday, March 23, 2010.

Alex – the new Steve McGarrett

  • Ali’iolani Hale, currently the home of the Hawaii State Supreme Court, with the statue of King Kamehameha in its courtyard, doubles as the exterior for Hawaii Five-0′s HQ. During Season 1, the interior set was housed in the downtown Post Office, Custom House and Court House building. The set was rebuilt at the production’s sound stage on Kapiolani Boulevard (the old Honolulu Advertiser building) for Season 2.
  • McGarrett’s father’s house is the historic Bayer Estate in the Honolulu community of Aina Haina. The set is now housed at the Five-0 sound stage.

  • Composer Brian Tyler assembled and conducted 35 musicians to record the 2010 version of the iconic Hawaii Five-0 theme song. At least three of the musicians from the original 1968 recording were also involved: David Duke (1st Horn), Chuck Findley (1st Trumpet) and Bob Zimmitti (Percussion). Source: Zap2It.
  • Demi Moore, Tia Carrere and Kelly Hu were rumored to have been eyed for the role of Governor Pat Jameson.
  • Among the actors interested in the role of Danny Williams were Danny Dyer, Peter O’Meara, Dean McDermott, Michael Muhney and Michael Shanks. McDermott, Muhney and Shanks appear to have actually auditioned for the role.
  • Alex O’Loughlin prepared for his role as Steve McGarrett by watching episodes of Jack Lord’s original series. “It’s very dated and it’s funny to go back and watch it, even the acting is very stylized and the voice work is so different.” Scott Caan had never seen the original show and elected not to watch it so that he could start fresh.
  • Neither Alex O’Loughlin nor Scott Caan were required to audition for their respective roles.

  • Daniel Dae Kim was the first to be cast on the show and Scott Caan was the very last. Executive Producer Peter Lenkov said Alex would regularly ask him, “Where’s my Danno?” Scott was initially unavailable as he was going to be directing a film, but when plans changed and the right actor still hadn’t been found, he was attached in the eleventh hour and immediately flew to Hawaii where he met the rest of the cast and joined the first table read on February 19, 2010, which was also viewed live by studio and network executives in Los Angeles. An occasion that director Len Wiseman remembers being “weird” and “awkward”. Alex recalls, “We read the script and we just riffed the whole time, and I thought: ‘This is good, this is good. We’ve got a little thing going there.’

  • The Five-0 Special Investigations seal on the floor of the task force’s headquarters (first seen in “Lanakila”) reads “Ua mau ke ea o ka’aina i ka pono”, which means the life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness”. It was adopted on May 1, 1959 as the Hawaii State Motto.
  • Steven J. McGarrett was born on March 10, 1977 in Honolulu. He is 6’1″ and weighs 190 lbs.

209-shirtless

  • John McGarrett, Steve’s father, was shot and killed by Victor Hesse on September 20, 2010 – the date of the show’s premiere on CBS.
  • McGarrett favors cargo pants by Superdry. The khaki model is available from Tags.com.

  • According to Executive Producer Peter Lenkov, it takes eight days to prep an episode and another eight to shoot it. Post production takes 2-4 weeks to complete.
  • The show does its best to employ Hawaiian talent. Eighty percent of the crew and all extras are locals, as are sixty percent of the guest stars. Additionally, a former Navy SEAL and a former HPD detective are consultants to the show – both are Hawaiians.
  • As a tribute to the original series, McGarrett’s Chevrolet Silverado has the license number F6-3958 in Season 2. Both the 1968 Park Lane and 1974 Marquis Brougham McGarrett’s cars on the classic show – had the same plate number. Source:IMDb.
