Hawaii Five 0 – Tonight is the End

So we got here again, another season ending for Steve. Time flies (especially looking back), felt like just a couple of months ago the summer hiatus was over and this eagerly awaited s 5 finally appeared on our screens. Since this is the first time we don´t know about the show´s future (while watching the finale), tonight will be extra special. We should actually be able to tell about season 6, by the ending in the finale. At least that´s what PLenkov tweeted a while ago, that he had 2 endings in mind, one for season finale and one for show´s finale. Odds are 50-50 for the show returning to our screens.

What ever the H50 future is, I wanted to look back at the earlier season finales, just to say a small goodbye to McGarrett. We miss you…when you are gone.

124-ending

223-ending

324-ending

422-ending

We have had just one non-cliffhanger finale so far, will 525 end with a smile or dead people coming back to haunt Steve?

I will be happy to see McG in a suit again, and even happier without anything. Bring it on Steve! 😀

  1. Wow Paula, goodbyes suck. I am completely positive we’ll have a S6 but this makes me know how devastated so many of us will be when H50 ends for real. I’m putting on my best Scarlett O’Hara and will think about that one tomorrow. Bring on my show tonight, I’m ready for some McG hotness. 💝

Extra points for the Scarlett reference. 😉 Tomorrow is another day…hopefully next Fall is another season of H50. Who knows what tonite will bring…this season overall has disappointed. It would be lovely if it could end on a note of greatness. And then continue that for S6!!!

  2. Looking at the photos and gifs of the end of all 4 seasons and wishing a great shot of McGarrett at the end of 5.25 to add here and to tease us all during summer hiatus and keep us craving for him on season 6. Yes, i’m not ready to say “goodbye” to Steve McGarrett, just “see you later”.

Even though this season was not worthy of our favorite crime fighting crew, I still need at least one more season with McG. I mean there are so many loose ends to tie up. Like, where the hell is Doris and when is she going to explain her ties to Wo Fat??? And we still need our dose of Uncle Steve with baby Joan. Why the writers haven’t felt compelled to jump on that band wagon, I’ll never understand. No matter what happens McG will remain the hottest law man on TV….forever!

  4. This was from an on-line TV magazine (TV-LINE) ask Ausiello….he’s predicting another season: “Question: Any last teasers for this season of Hawaii Five-0? —Dean ~ ~ ~ Ausiello: Grace Park warns that in this Friday’s double-episode finale, somewhere amidst chasing down a nuclear bomb and steering bride and groom Kono and Adam down the aisle, “a new Wo Fat is born.” (Metaphorically, of course. Not a reincarnation storyline.)

Another Wo-Fat why would they tease that if H50 was ending? What I am not looking forward to (get ready haters) is that they brought back Catherine. I may be the only one but I want to know why? Granted, it’s the season finale but they fired her! Fired! and now they bring her back….I am sorry but I hope that she is only there to retrieve her things, ask for forgiveness and MOVE ON! I can’t stand shows that (kill off/send away) characters then bring them back as if nothing happened. She broke his heart and, yes we know he said he loved her, but she left him just like his mom did, just like his dad did and was betrayed by her as he had been numerous times. Yes, I know it’s a TV show but there is something about McGarrett when he is alone he seems more driven, When he is partnered with Catherine (or someone else) he is more vulnerable and I don’t think that was the premise of his character.

Don’t get me wrong, whether the Catherine character stays or goes (fingers crossed) I will continue to watch because of Alex and the rest of the crew. I hope tonight’s finale doesn’t disappoint.

  6. I have had the worst thoughts on tonight’s show due to the title. My first thought was the ending is they all get killed and the show ends not just Kono getting married till death do they part. Horrid, but I have seen other shows end their series that way. I too am hoping for a Season 6, and to be honest think some of the shows were a little far fetched like the opening one with the plane landing on the street. The one with WoFat was terrific. We do have many stories not answered. Back to basics with Steve and what he can do. I loved the episode ala MacGyver type when he rigged that bomb up when he and Danny were trapped in the building. That stuff was great. Tonight I will be teary eyed anyways with it ending for the Season ( I hope). I agree I don’t like Catherine being back, she broke his heart, he doesn’t need that. Steve has been through enough in his life with loss of family, naval friends, his aunt being sick etc. A guy can only take so much. I hope Plenkov casts Alex in something else if the show is gone. Okay ladies I guess tomorrow we will know – sending you all warm thoughts for tonight’s show…and lots of final season gif’s from Paula and Foyeur.

“they all get killed and the show ends”

So the pics of Steve in his tux is from them attending their own funerals? Heehee – the 5-0 Ghosts, haunting the island’s law enforcement forever. Would they follow the cops around, kvetching about their inferior skills? Would Danny’s voice be heard drifting down the precinct halls, complaining about how much he STILL hates Hawai’i? Would Chin Ho have fun shoving things off the desks of the cops that burned him the worst? Would Steve while away eternity giving perps vague headaches by punching them in the head? (Kono, of course, would be riding the waves sans board, forever.)

      *giggle* Sorry, couldn’t resist. ;D

        • Well, as long as Steve floats into my bedroom I would be happy. 🙂 The final scene of them and the demise is what I thought. I so hope for a Season 6. sigh,,,if it does end maybe we could get a new thing going and go after the producers of James Bond and get him in there. Isn’t Daniel ?? ready to quit Bond..The last Bond movie I saw was ewww….he was so aged. We need Alex as Bond.

Well, if he isn’t going to do the Magic Mike sequel (a hope I still hold out in my dirty little mind), Bond would be a good alternative. Me, I’d rather see him play a bookish history professor who gets caught up in some across-the-ages art heist thriller. Or some other area he hasn’t touched on before.

I wrote a little something last month about the ghost of Steve McGarrett that was…interesting. Something tells me he wouldn’t be a cheerful ghost.

I agree with you girls. For a while I’ve been saying to myself that it’s for the best if the show ends. But reading your post reminded me of why I started coming to you girls. Before I fell for Alex I fell for Steve Mcgarrett. If this is it I am going to miss him so much because I feel like I know him. And on top of it really learning to love the man behind him I will be very sad if this is the end. You girls always brighten my day and hopefully you will have plenty to write about Alex for a long time. My fingers are crossed for tonight.

There’s a doubt about it being renewed? Really? It’s obvious that it’s coming back – the network would never have done this tease thing if it wasn’t. That would invite a BIG fan backlash, and they clearly don’t want that. No, you can all relax, it’s returning.

I’m not ready to say goodbye to Alex and this show. I am ready, however, to say goodbye to Catherine for ever – I agree with you both, Barb2167 and Debra 57 – she left him there to DIE. Nuff said.

I do think there’ll be a s6, they auctioned off a(nother) set visit so I can’t see them doing that without having some inside knowledge as to renewal. Besides we need another great photo of Alex to add to the season finales!!

Thank you both Paula and FOYeur for all the love and hard work you put into this site! I’m not saying goodbye but just have a great summer and see you in July when shooting resumes!!

  10. Reading EW interview with PL he said that the new big bad guy was going to be worse than Wo Fat, that Kono and Adam would have to wait until next season for their first dance as a married couple and a multi episode arch for Danny, this sounded to me that there was going to be a new season, hopefully we will find out sooner rather than later.

    • I must have missed those details. But I agree that lately it has been pointing more to s6 than earlier this year. I was convinced this was it.
No goodbye for Steve then, it´s just “see you later” 🙂

That info does pretty much clinch it. I was thinking it could go one of three ways:

        1) The show’s renewed, yay!
        2) The show is cancelled, but we’re starting a series of feature films, yay!
        3) The show is renewed, but *this* person is leaving – good news is, *THIS* person is the replacement! YAY!

But now it’s clearly either 1 or 3, and it seems there’ll be something more than just “it’s renewed”. 🙂

      • Here is my response on how I felt about this season as a whole and in general (this is in relation to the topic of how female characters are treated on 5-0 and you need to read the whole thread and comment chain to understand the context)
        http://bookemmcdanno.tumblr.com/post/118596108301/feminism-not-a-four-letter-word <— it’s my personal blog I post a lot of 5-0 stuff there

As a whole season 5 has had less of what season1-3 had which was character driven stories and logical arcs that made sense.

But I hope there is a season six, I hope I get to see McGarrett, Danno and the rest of the gang and I sure as hell hope they get better writers and Lenkov stops being a silly boy.

I will also note I don’t think Gabriel Waincroft will be as good a bad guy as Wo Fat, but I will reserve judgement until I see more of him.

        Like

        • Unless this Gabriel Waincroft´s character has something to do with Steve, I don´t see how he would be interesting enough for the show´s baddie. I thought they might have introduced the older man in Adam´s photos as some super villain, but again no connection to Steve.
They left the season in a way, that could continue, but then again if it didn´t, the stuff that was left hanging doesn´t really make me hold my breath to see how they turn out.

The new arc for Danny makes me glad. I’ve been sad to see Caan backing out the way he seems to have been doing. Nice to know we’ll see more of him. What I’m wondering is if “big new bad guy” is a general threat, or whether he’s an extension of Steve’s story (that we thought they’d wrapped up). If he’s focused on Steve, I do hope he’s part of some new thing, and not just more of the same. I mean, just as he was starting to lighten up a little…

  11. I have a question….okay on Moonlight. If he was 80 years old, how did he keep getting his driver’s license renewed looking so young. Wouldn’t the DMV ask about how young he looks if the license birthdate made him old… There a brain teaser ladies. I’ve been thinking about that lately. In our hearts our vamp and our seal never grow old. 3 1/2 hours till the show…sigh, and yes I’m PVR’ing it.

They talked about that in the last episode, the one with that couple that had been married 300 years. Their wall was covered with marriage licenses – apparently they just drop out of sight once they’ve been around long enough, and reappear with new identities. Seems there are vampires who make a good living creating new lives for their fellow blood-drinkers.

Yeah, but Mick stayed in LA, he didn’t move around, and he still used his name. Not sure the writers had an explanation for this. Look how great Moonlight was–we’re still talking about it 🙂

*sigh* Yes. Beth asked Mick about that, and he explained it with, “Yeah, but I’m careful.” Whatever that’s supposed to mean. (Though I suspect it means, “Relax, it’s just a tv show.” LOL.)

I did like tonight’s season finale episode–the core four are always the best, and Grover is a plus. Danny balances Steve, and I actually even liked the cargument (I guess I miss those, when Danny’s not being whiny). The character writing hasn’t been this good in a long time. The plot, as usual, was over the top (like the Navy wouldn’t have taken over at that point), but I was thrilled to see Steve not giving a damn how he treated the perps, just like in S1. Not sure what to make of Catherine, and I don’t think Steve did either. Loved Grover’s Bond comment (someone reads the blogs!).

I wish we didn’t have to wait 5 days to find out about S6 renewal. I really don’t have a good feeling about it. Hope I’m wrong.
