We continue our story from here
Steve and Doris is spending some time together. Mother and son rowing together, having some fun while they exercise.
Doris: Now that’s what I call a perfect start to the day. Maybe next time Catherine could join us.
Steve: Catherine?
Doris: Yeah.
Steve: Okay.
Doris: Good. I’ll mention it to her at lunch.
Steve: You’re going to lunch with Catherine?
Doris: Uh-huh.
Steve: Just the two of you?
Doris: Yeah. Why, is that a problem?
Steve: No, I mean. I don’t know.
Doris: You said you wanted us to get to know each other. Right?
Steve: Yeah, I suppose I did say those very words.
Doris: Yeah
Steve: I just thought you and Mick were going away this week.
Doris: That’s next week. This week his busy following me around.
Steve: Look mom, about that. I ‘m sorry.
Doris: What kind of a son hires a PI to keep tabs on his mother?
Steve: Okay, let’s be honest. We’re not exactly the Walton’s. You’re a former spy who faked her own death 20 years ago. I got issues mom. I got trust issues.
Doris: Okay. Get over it. And get over Catherine and I getting together. It’s just lunch.
There is a break-in at Doris’s house and she surprises the perpetrator. She tries to defend herself but the thief escapes with the safety box from her safe.
Steve tries to figure out what happened at his mom’s place. Cath arrives and tells him about the incident with Mangosta from a while back. Steve is not happy and asks her to rather leave.
Steve confronts Doris
Steve: Who robbed your house?
Doris: I told you, I didn’t see him.
Steve: Okay. Did it have anything to do with Mangosta?
Doris: Catherine told you, huh?
Steve: Is it not enough that you can’t open your mouth without lying to me. You got to use Catherine against me too? Mom?
Doris: I wasn’t using Catherine. I was trying to protect you.
Steve: Mom, could you stop for a minute? Just stop, all right. Catherine and I had a good thing and now what, huh?
Doris: Steve, the girl loves you. She wasn’t trying to hurt you. I wasn’t trying to hurt you.
Steve: Mom, you don’t get it. You still don’t get it.
Doris: Steve, Steve, I’m sorry
Steve: Who robbed your house?
Doris: I don’t know.
She goes on to tell him that there was a microfiche in the safe, that had un-reducted action reports of her entire career at Covert Ops. And that she hid it in the house all those years ago and kept it as an insurance policy, to keep them all safe if anybody ever came after her. (Not that it meant anything when she was scared that WoFat was going to come after her 20 years ago. She rather faked her death. 😦 )
Steve leaves Doris to go and find Catherine. She apologise to him for not telling him about his mother and he from his side, reassures her with a kiss, that it is okay and that he understands ……..

I loved this episode! The part that made me laugh was when Danny was explaining roller derby because his Mom liked it. Scott’s Dad starred in “Rollerball” Great old movie to watch.

I don’t even know what to do with this partly irksome, partly lovely story now, now that Cath was suddenly, summarily just dumped. And they muddled, and have now ignored, all this family backstory…WTH, Show? Where are with any of this at this point? Will any of this ever come up again?

It is truly sad that the show and the story needs actors to play the roles and continue with the characters 😀 (if that makes any sense)
Their availablity and contracts sometimes keep the story and storyline at ransom. It is the one sad thing for me about H5-0.
They do so many things that seems unrealistic, maybe they should do like the the soapies do it – just replace one actor for another in a spesific role and just keep the story going. Maybe let Catherine be in an accident in the Middle East and then come back with a different face, played by a different actress…… 😀

I loved this ep. It meant so much for me to know steve and cath had something good going (wasn’t it the real deal !!) now it’s like gacenotpark said, what now!!
Maybe your right foyeur, we don’t know what happens to the actors and their contracts, hawaii is far away from the mainland and not every actor is happy about that!
I’m glad alex fell in love with the place! I don’t like to think about what happened when h5o is over ;-(
