The Steve McGarrett Story – No #37

We continue our story from here

Steve 22

Just for interest sake – the schedule for Hawaii Five-0 broadcasting has been released and it looks like our countdown to the 100th episode on the 7th of  November, will work correctly. We are just over a third of the way, but still a lot of Steve’s story to cover. I must admit the episodes that we are currently with, are very difficult for me to ‘study’.

As you will see I post a minimum of pictures. The only thing that makes me ‘handle’ it in  a sense, is the knowledge that Alex made it through the mental and physical pain, that is so visible in these pictures and that things recovered so wonderfully for him!  It definitely took courage to admit a problem and to address it and “survive” it.

Life is not about never stumbling or falling, but how we get up and move forward!

But let’s continue with our story………..

Chin picks Joe up at the airport.

Chin: It’s your second trip to Japan in two months.

Joe: What can I say? I’m a sucker for karaoke. Something on your mind?

Chin: Hiro Noshimuri. HPD has evidence that he was murdered, Joe. I’m not directly involved with the investigation, but I’m told they’re starting to look at you.

Joe: I did not kill Hiro Noshimuri. We had a conversation, and when it was over, he walked away. If he’s dead HPD should be looking at WoFat.

Chin: Why would WoFat want to kill the head of the Yakuza?

Joe: Shelburne.

Chin: Did Noshimuri tell you who Shelburne is?

Joe: No. But WoFat might think otherwise.

Chin: The problem is you were the one seen taking  Noshimuri at gunpoint. HPD isn’t going to just let it go.

Joe: Apparently neither is the Yakuza. We got company.

Chin confronts Steve about Joe and plants a seed of doubt with him.

Chin: Yakuza knows HPD’s circling Joe. They were sending a message. Steve, Joe is in real trouble.

Steve: Okay. I’ll reach out to Adam Noshimuri. He’s in charge now.

Chin: Maybe you should reach out to Joe.

Steve: Joe told me he didn’t kill Hiro.

Chin: Okay, I  know you trust him.

Steve: Of course I trust him. I mean he’s like a father to me. When my father wasn’t around, he was, for years.

Chin: That was a long time ago, Steve. People change. How much do you really know about his life over the past 10 years?

Steve: He saved my life, Chin. More than once.

Chin: I get that. I do. But I’m telling you, he’s hiding something. Why does he keep going to Japan? And what does he really know about Shelburne? And do you really believe he didn’t kill Hiro Noshimuri? I’m just saying you might not know the whole story.

Steve gets a call and he leaves for HPD to talk to Joe where he is being questioned by the police.

Steve: You gotta come clean with these guys. I mean, you know that right? You gotta tell them everything.

Joe: What is it you want me to tell them?

Steve: Why you went to see Noshimuri. Why you are the last person to see him before he disappeared.

Joe: You are interfering with something that you don’t understand.

Steve: Why don’t you explain it to me, Joe? Tell me what the hell is going on! You gotta wake up. The walls are closing in on you. HPD wants answers. The Yakuza wants blood. Shelburne. Is he worth this, huh? Is he worth going to jail for? Is he worth dying for, Joe?

Joe: People already died, son. I’m trying to make it stop! I’m getting out of here. Cops have nothing on me.

Later the day, when Steve can’t get ahold of Joe, he goes to his place and find his keys still in the door and his phone on the floor. He realises that Joe was abducted. He finds Joe at Adams’ place, where he is being beaten and questioned about Hiro’s disappearance. Of course Ninja Steve and his gun get Joe out of there. He  drives Joe home.

Joe: You realise, you just started a war with the Yakuza.

Steve: No Joe. You did that when you grabbed Hiro Noshimuri, okay. They think you killed him.

Joe: Well I didn’t kill him. I helped him fake his death.

Steve: What? Why?

Joe: I can’t tell you that.

Steve: I was tortured over Shelburne! I was tortured! Joe, Jenna Kaye paid with her life. I deserve answers. I want answers. I want them right now!

Joe gets out of the car and walks away……..

I hear you…I haven’t had comments to make in these eps, cuz we all know what is soon to come and I feel kinda like it’s waiting for that damn shoe to drop. 😦

But props to Alex for his courage in getting help, his strength in working all the way thru it and coming out even more awesome on the other side. Props to both he and Malia for making a scary beginning into a beautiful partnership and family.

I love this countdown tho. What a wonderful way to allow us to participate in Show’s success and history! You are doing it perfectly. Thank you!

    • Thank you Grace
In the begiining of hiatus someone asked me to do a recap on WoFat’s story – but in the end I thought that I would rather like to do Steve’s story – because we are all about Alex. WoFat will just be part of it in any case.
Thanks for enjoying it with me. In some parts of it, I would have liked to do it better. But it is kind of hard work getting an episode done every day, so I miss out on some of it……

Oh I am far more interested in Steve’s story than any other character. I’m delighted he’s your focus. Plus his story is far and away the most complex one.

How you’re doing one a day is a remarkable feat to me! Never think it isn’t appreciated, both for the excellence of your work, because you have done a great job, and for the devotion we all share to your subject. These posts are a real treat for the rest of us, as much labor as they are for you. I love every single one!

        • Mostly doing it for myself – to remember again. And the subject makes it easy (any excuse to watch him over and over and over …. again. 😀 )
But it is an extra bonus, if others enjoy it with me! 🙂

It doesn’t scare me likenit used to do, it’s kinky i know, but alex somehow tends to direct me in some dark corners in my mind 😉 !!

He is beautiful in all shapes and sizes – it is just the constant frown and the sadness in the eyes that never leaves during this time, that gets to me, while I search for pictures to use……

  4. I’m having a hard time watching these episodes too FOYeur!
It’s easier now we know that he had the courage to admit a problem took the bull by the horns and came back stronger than ever. But still…
Love your journey through Steve’s life and suffering. From this episode Steve’s words “I was tortured” still stick to my mind. Incredibly intense done by Alex!

    • What pains me the most looking at these episodes, is that he just kept going on for the shows sake. In my opinion he should have been given the chance (or maybe even be forced) by the producers to get help at least 3 or 4 months ealier than he did. 😦
But that is all water under the bridge…..and things happen as they happen.

This makes me think, do we know why WoFat killed Hiro N.?
Why was Joe helping hiro faking his death? Is this Joe’s speciality, faking someone’s death?
Did he help Doris fake her own death?
Why does Joe blame Steve for the death bodies? Actually it’s WoFat taking everybody down! And he wouldn’t stop!
Just some thoughts! I can still not see any “red tape” in the whole Shelburn story!

Just glad that some of you are travling with me on this journey and sharing the thoughts – even before I post them.
I also look at the pretty mostly – everything is always and excuse to look at the pretty. 😛

    • 1. Wo-Fat killed Hiro because he could. He was sending a message that he was taking over. He was probably (if he hadn’t been stopped) going after Adam N. next.
      2. Joe helped Hiro because Hiro was afraid of Wo-Fat. He knew that eventually Wo-fat would come after him. When Steve and Joe were meeting with Adam Joe said “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” He helped Hiro out because Wo-Fat was the threat,
      3. Quite possible that Joe helped Doris fake her death after all how can you (the story) explain how Joe knew where she was when Steve (or even her husband) didn’t. Joe was probably CIA longer than anyone else knew and that could explain how he knew where Doris was.
      4. Joe was “guilting” Steve into believing that he was responsible for those who died. He didn’t want Steve to keep digging and find that Doris was alive. He figured as a “fatherly” influence that Steve would just back down but our Bad A%^ Super SEAL wasn’t about to give up.

I hope that answered your questions.
