We will be tortured with another season of Hawaii Five-0…….
Dear show, our wishes for the next season:
(our needs are simple)
- Please let Alex grow his hair a little longer – it makes him look younger (even if there are silver streaks in it 😛 ).
- Request from FOYeur (I know I am very much alone in this): Please BURN all Steve’s shirts of Season 4! – I hate them all (and please add the white sagging pants with them) A big bonfire made with it during the wrap party will do nicely.
- Honesty from the producers about reasons why main cast members are not available for filming (Grace Park’s pregnancy and Scott’s sweet deal of knit one slip one ) It will really make life on twitter and social media more pleasant and friendlier, if people do not have to ask every now and then, what happened to their favourite character and when they will be back
– PRETTY PLEASE!
- Having said that, it would be nice if the main cast members are available at all times while filming the season, to avoid weird green screen add-ins. Then the story line don’t have to be written around their absence. It can only make the writers task easier and the viewing pleasure better. Or leave the character out of the scene if he/she is not available on site.
- Steve doing more SEAL stuff again – when last did Steve use his knife, ripped out a nose rings, fly a helicopter, gone ninja………??
- The key to continuation in the story is small things, like a stolen glance between lovers that mean something. A quick call or a message from aunt Deb or Mary, to let us know how they are – not just a sudden appearance out of thin air. Make the viewers want to tune in every week because they care and want to see what happens next, without taking away time from a good story every week.
- The live tweet with Alex at the start of Season 4 was fun – Please do it again (more often during the season, or give us small videos of the set with the main stars).
- Please get some sort of sunglass endorsement! It pains us to see the actors squint all the time! (It is shot in sunny Hawaii after all)
- New promotional pictures of the main cast members – they are beautiful people who matured a bit since Season 2, when the last shoot was done! (We are kind of getting tired to flail over the same old pictures 😥 )
- AND of course last but not the least – more nakedness (preferably from Steve)
Things that make us happy:
Also announced yesterday, was the addition of Jorge Garcia (Jerry) as regular cast member. So far we liked what Jerry brought to the show.
(Hopefully the writers will know how to use him effectively! 😆 )
Honestly I would have expected at least a small smile from Alex (aka Rambo) about the news. At least he was excited enough to text his trainer (Egan) about the renewal. 😀 (PS Are those some breast feeding boobies we see on Grace? 😀 )
Daniel Dae Kim tweeted this picture with a autocorrect mistake saying that Alex was taking part in an auction – meaning an audition for Rambo. (Of course only making a joke, we hope 😮 )
We want to take this opportunity to thank DDK for being such a great team player and making the Hawaii Five-0 experience more fun for the fans. Not only does he tweet some quirky stuff every now and then, but he and Alex are team players who make an effort to support THEIR show by attending every SOTB, every Blessing ceremony and also the charity events that involved the cast.
Let’s raise our glasses to some more torturous fun for another year!
(Hopefully we won’t have to be too drunk to enjoy this one …….)

I do not have a clue what kind of deal Scott got for being available for this season, but for most of the season there was always evidence that every 2nd week he was hanging out in LA. I do not really study his actions, but as far as I could see he was busy with some projects writing plays – not sure if he was directing them as well.
There was also evidence that he was busy with the surfing charity he is involved with. Some of his friends posted pictures about these events on Instagram and FB.
The stories about shooting the movie Entourage is not true, because as far as I know they will only start filming during this month (not 100% sure about it)
He was also not at SOTB 4 because of a surfing charity event he attended on the mainland.
AND of course if you have a look at the episodes, there were many where he was on his own, not working with the team. Or added in on greenscreen shots.

I have seen people comment that they have received personalised responses back. I would imagine that Alex would have signed those himself. I think most of it is handled by his assistant. (NO way can he handle all that mail – it will keep him too busy. I would rather see him on my screen than writing personal responses to millions of fans 🙂 )
As far as I know especially the people that send baby stuff for little Lion got responses back.

There was one article in the media about her becomming a mother somewhere. I can’t remember where. Can’t even even remember if it is a boy or a girl. (will post the link if I can find it)
I did study the footage from the last episodes of S3 and could see the evidence of her being far along already by the end of the season.

I must say you ladies know your H50. I agree with all your wish list, but may I add a few things.
1. What is Knit one slip one for Scott? I thought he was filiming Entrouage the movie during this current season?
Along with lots and lots of shirtless alex (dry and wet) I would also like to see some shirtless scott as well(dry and wet). His body is rocking also.
3. Maybe next season they could have a serial killer theme for the season ) I was big fan of True Detective on HBO. and I would like to see a serial killer theme that may take more than one episode to sovle maybe across the season.
4. Last but not least if I may,say this . Writers producers, bring back more of the bromance. I miss the carguments, and the bannter like it was in season one. Grover is nice and all but i miss my Mcdanno. The bromance does not always have to be carguments just see them give a good deep soul searching talk with each other about what is going on in their lives and the world around them. Or Steve opening up to danny about his PTSD in a heart to heart talk I would like to see that.
Finally Ladies you did a great job with your seaason 5 wish list, yes I would like to see steve grow his hair out and let it blow in the wind. Great job ladies. ….. thank you

I would also like to see the bromance back…no offense to anyone…but I want Season 1 back. They have veered away from the original formula and it isn’t the same…(again no offense) did they have to make Catherine, Grover and now Jorge Garcia permanent cast members? There are way too many people. It was best when the original 4 were all together.
I feel that the relationship between Steve & Catherine feels forced (not to mention now he’s her boss and they are still sleeping together)…Governor’s task force or not that is a no-no. I liked it best when she made an occasional appearance…now they are having an episode (2nd to the end) all bout her…why? I am sorry but that just isn’t right. I think it needs to remain about the 4 main characters with the others as side lines. They do quite well with Grace…we know she is there and she gets a bit of screen time but she doesn’t take away from the chemistry…I think if they mention these other characters at times we still keep in touch with them but they aren’t “in our faces” all the time. I don’t like that they added Grover to the mix who is now (as posted above) taking Danny’s place in the “consultation” department and giving Danny more “whiny” lines. Then they bring in the conspiracy theorist (Jorge) and it just gets too muddled.
I LOVE H-50 and am so thrilled that it has been extended but if they don’t revamp the show and bring back some of the spark they might not make it to a season 6.

ONLY IF Scott is available full time again, will the writers be able to write the bromance again as we all want. That is the whole point I wanted to make with some of my request. The writers can’t write something if one of the main actors is not there to shoot it. They had to write Scott’s stories away from the team, to accomodate his schedule. ( Have a look back at the season, and you will see)
Most of the “regulars” like Max, Grover and Catherine only had limited time on screen. Lots of episodes did not even have them in. None of them took screen time from the actors that were availble for shooting – They kind of had to fill in for Scott and Grace. Grace was not in Hawaii for half of the season for filming. All of her and Adam’s scenes for the first few episodes of S4 was filmed during the last days of filming S3. She only arrived back on the Island just before Christmas break. – By that time nearly all the episodes we have seen so far this season have already been shot.
And I agree with you about the spark ……it is desperately needed!

when Scott is not around, they should do more bromance with Steve and Chin… scenes with them are great also, not so much for banters, but that feeling of being home, since they (kind of) grew up together…
I think this is the way Scott is trying to get out of the show… he’s talking about leaving every time before hiatus, but then in next season feels like he’s forced to shoot scenes – like there’s some real “argument” on the set…

Andrea, Scott signed a 7 year contract with the show as far as I know. I personally think it is career suicide for any actor to break such a contract, because they will be seen as unreliable in the industry.
So he must have done some sort of special arrangement with the Network to stay around but on a part time basis.
I really get the fact that the stars would like to spread their wings and do other stuff (I would love to see Alex do other stuff) – but that is what the hiatus is for. Their first priority should be with the show (employer), the fans of the show and their collegues (cast and crew)
Lots of people in Hawaii are employed by the show and any of the members of the cast who jeopardise shows success is very selfish in my opinion.

I may be extremely ignorant but Scott signed on to star in H50 so his first loyalty should be to the show. Why are they even letting him book “other” engagements that take him away from Being part of the team. If Scott doesn’t want to be part of the show, and it’s quite evident that he doesn’t, he should leave. Don’t get me wrong..I would hate to see that happen. I love the Core 4 and want S1 back again also.

I´m a bit surprised I don´t usually more Scotty fans speaking up about shirtless Danno. Or is it because I don´t possibly follow those fans online. I would not be happy if Scott´s and Alex´s roles were reversed this season.
A case continuing for a few episodes sounds great, might give a better story and have more depth.
The episodes could use more fun, sometimes. I don´t see why they couldn´t end most of the episodes with a lighter fun scene 🙂

they are forcing funny scenes with Max, but it’s not so great… and, even though I am a fan of Grover (Chi McBride), he’s hostility toward Danny is not amusing…
I would so much love for writers to give us back feeling we had in season 1 – real O’hana, focusing on core 4, with sometimes adding people important for the story of the week… I miss Wo Fat – I can’t believe I’m saying that, but I do miss him!

As far as I know it was only fan rumors about the shooting of Entourage. Because as far as I know they will only start shooting the movie this month. (Not 100% sure, but that is what I saw in the media)
Scott was for most of the time hanging out in LA every 2nd week doing charity work. And as far as I know being involved with writing plays and some other projects.
IF Scott is availabe then and then only can they bring the bromance back in full force – that is the point I wanted to make in the post. You can’t write proper stories if your main cast is not available to shoot them 😦

I really feel sorry for the fans who miss their favourites characters and do not know why they are not there – that is why honesty about it would be great. If people understand what is going on there does not have to be fights among fans about screen time for their favorites.
And as I have written in the few reviews I have done – Steve and Danno will always be the heart of the show. (But if Danno is not there somebody else will have to do to be Steve’s partner 😦 )

I think this season´s shirts, would have worked better, if they had used the same method as in 401. Have Steve do the change in front of camera. A nice white tee every now and then would be yummy. Having the dark shirt so often…well it covers up too much of our views 😛

Miek, what I am talking about is the length of the shirts. I also like him in blue – it is his and my favorite colour after all. The shirts does not hug his body like T-shirts and Golf shirts do and they hide his gloreous tushy – from there the hate for them 😀 (and he looks old in them for me)
The cargos unfortunately went out of production as far as I know (AND with the length of the present shirts even the cargos would be hidden under them.)
McKono will be on my wish list only when we reach the last season of the show – before then, it will mess with the dinamics of the team!

FOYeur, it is as if you read my mind. 🙂 Not a surprise that you have most of the same wishes that I do. I do like his button downs, but would not be upset if he traded them in for a polo shirt or a v neck tee. They give us so much more viewing pleasure. First, his guns and the arm veinpOrn are more visible, the fabric usually hugs those hard pecs and nips to make our mouths water, the length is the best part,,,sitting right at his waist, tucked slightly under his badge and we get a full view of the FOY and tushy. I also love him in blue. Baby blue is my favorite on him, but that green polo he wore in season 2 might be a close second.
Yes, please burn those saggy white pants and my request is for only light colored pants to be allowed in season 5, as long as the shirt length is going the right direction.
I am also a big McDanno fan, but if Scott decided to leave the show, I would still watch, because I am most of all an Alex addict and can’t go without him. I would miss Danny, but I already do miss the McDanno of old. I see there is a great McDanno episode coming up! Hopefully it will rekindle their bond and give us hope for next season.
I am also a fan of Jorge (Huge fan of LOST!) and like FOYeur said, I hope they utilize him effectively. He will definitely be a source of tension between Steve and Danny and possibly Cath, if he remains in McG’s home.
Of course I want more skin, but I too would like to see some gesture of affection between him and Cath outside of 5-0. And the fact that Mary just shows up periodically, but is barely mentioned, is very strange. I’d like to see Mary and Jerry interact. 😆
I know my opinions don’t matter to TPTB, but it would be nice if someone with PL twitter connections, get him our requests. He may be able to grant a few of our wishes. He must know what we fangirls want? I wonder how much decision power Alex has regarding his wardrobe or the lack of. 😛

And as a Scott fan I don’t mind that he’s not at SOB kissing CBS butt and making fans happy, because as his loyal fan I am more than impressed that he is selfishly giving of himself and his time to such worthwhile charities where he’s actually hands on helping people and making their lives so much better! Children and people with disabilities who get to experience something life changing because of him. He gets a lot of shit from other #H5O ‘fans’ and really it’s uncalled for. I would rather he’s happy and true to himself. I don’t imagine he finds it easy to let his fans down but knows whats more important and that as a loyal fan makes me love him all the more. I think all of the cast could do a bit more to promote H50. I know there was some messages about Alex not doing much either in s 3. I don´t know how that media works, is it up the the stars to take part, or does the media not care for this show and ask them to take part in TV talkshows.
But you know Scott better than either one of us, do you think Scott is happy working on H50? To me his actions, this season, sort of confirms he would rather be off the island and not part of H50, anymore. I suspect he´d rather work in LA.

Please go back and read the post – this was about us asking the Network to be honest about things so that fans don’t have to always ask – when their favorite actor will be back again, And people keep asking for the bromance to be back and it CAN’T be back if one half of the bromance is not there!
It is nothing against Scott from my side – I like his work a lot. I have no problem with Scott, but his present deal with the network is not good for the show in my eyes. It causes frustration.
The show might be fake, but the jobs involved are real. And should be handled as any other job in the world…….

I want to compare two differnet SOTB. SOTB 3 Scott was in LA for his mom’s funeral – I think nobody in their right mind would say he should be in HI at that time. BUT Grace had no excuse as far as what is known not to be there.
SOTB 4 – Scott was attending a charity event in LA – a very noble thing – but I made my point about my feelings about that earlier. Grace on the other hand either just had her baby or was on her last of her pregnancy and again nobody in their right mind would expect her to be there.
So what I am trying to say is that they both had a very valid excuse in my eyes, to miss one and one with no real excuse.

I have a question; why is it that when CBS is promoting their shows that H50 is rarely seen and yet there are other (worse) shows on that they promote the heck out of. I think we as fans should say something to (Lenkov) on that point…after all aren’t we (the ones who watch) got the show renewed for another season.

Like I said to you in my other reply – our original request about it, is for TPTB to be honest about it and to handle it better. Questions were asked in the comments and I answered it as truthfully as I could – not because I have something against Scott.
If such clauses was written in, he should have been cast as a season regular, like Masi, and Michelle and Chi and not a main cast member. Don’t create something for the public and then after a while only give them half of it without explaining why.
AND with Grace – I have given an answer about it a while ago. She was already married and knew her age when she signed her contract. Why sign a contract to be a main cast member for 7 years, if you knew that you wanted to have a baby, and also work so far away from home? But the clause for pregnancy and time off for it might have been written into her contract.
In her defence, she did plan her baby at the best time (don’t know if it was by choice or luck) She could work till the end of S3 and film some scenes to get around the story in S4. And now she is back, doing her job – far away from home.
BUT again also with Grace, my problem is not with her being pregnant and having a baby – it is with the fact that they could have explained her absence to the fans and not have them beg week after week about when she would be back.

Just a thought….we all love H50 and are involved in the lives of the “characters” (as the actors themselves). If someone, network, etc. were to post that Grace wouldn’t be on the show for maternity reasons…how many fans would have a different view of her. I think that is why they did the whole “Adam” story arc rather than say…oops Kono got knocked up…
The same with Scott. His one absence (celebrating his dad’s birthday) was made part of the story line. I think they have done well explaining why certain characters are absent…
Mary (and baby Joan) are still in HI, possibly and we can only assume. We know Doris is now back in action…those are small things that we may or may not find out about…
I think that we should not speculate who has what written in their contract and just enjoy the characters. Granted when one or more are absent it makes it difficult to do the story but they have succeeded before and I believe they will again.
Also, I do believe that the show has done their fair share of giving each character their “own” episod0e(s) as a way to shine…Chin’s imprisonment and then the one where he is in front of IA. Danny has the mother/father episodes as well as a few others (dirty cops kidnaps Grace, former partner killed, etc.) having his nephew visit…so they each have their own screen time. I think they did well in NOT having Danny be there for the Chin IA episode…it wasn’t necessary for him to be there…good way to excuse his absence…don’t write him in.
Sorry to ramble but I think they have done well with what they have to work with and, just because someone commutes from LA to HI doesn’t mean they work any less/more than those living in Oahu.

Then when I tell you that Scott and Grace’s absences cause it. You say we should not try to explain their absence by saying things about their personal lives?!.
I really don’t care if Danny or Kono are there and how much screen time they get – but their fans (like you) do!. And you and hundreds of others keep nagging to get the core 4 back and to get the bromance back and that they veered away from the S1 formula and added more characters.
They added more because they needed to. And the bromance and the carguments can only be there if Scott is there……….

We can still have the “bromance” and the chemistry with the characters when they are there…I wouldn’t want a cargument every episode (which is what has happened in the past…a time filler I assume). I don’t need to see Chin & Kono hug every episode to know they are “ohana.”
There will be absences and that is fine but we can still have “season1” type episodes this late in the game without it being forced. As much as I hated the stories (Max and the murder and the NCIS:LA crossover) I think they did well explaining Steve’s absence…I know people will “hate” me for this but I liked Catherine when she would show up on occasion it made it more believable and we could see a sensitive side of Steve. Yet he was still able to be the bass ass SEAL as needed…unfortunately they have taken that story line and made him more “soft.” Some on this forum said they want some of the action scenes back…same as others wanting the Season 1 formula.
We won’t all be able to get what we want…wishful thinking I’m sure…I am just glad that I can watch the show and enjoy what we do get.

Hi Barb, I feel like I get where you’re going with your comments.
If you are trying to point out that we can all just enjoy H5O in our own way and that all the cast and crew are doing a great job and they don’t need us to tell them how to do it, but just need us to enjoy what they’ve come up with…. In that case you feel the same as I do.
This discussion is not light and fun and all about the love.
It feels like people ventilating, pointing fingers and being on the defensive. Can we just all agree to disagree and start talking about a subject everybody can agree on:
1) Season five is happening!
2) SOTB 5 is a fact (so go if you want to and enjoy if you do)
3) Alex is HOT!!
4) we have our McPerv’s to keep us smiling 🙂

Sorry Barb but there is just no way that the same chemisty between the core 4 and the bromance can be there if they are not there for filming. If they do not add characters, the ones who are there (Alex and DDK) would have to work double as hard if they do not add other characters to support them
Core 4 need 4 people – not 2 that are not there half the time and a bromance need 2 people. – they had to write the stories differently than S1, 2 and 3!!
If Scott and Grace will be there all the time for the shooting of S5 – then the fans complaining about core 4 and bromance, don’t have to be complaining. And then I would not have anything to explain about anymore – as simple as that!

My replies to you might seem harsh because they come from a place of frustration building up over the last season, seeing so many people complain about the lack of core 4 and bromance and nobody explaining and nobody understanding the cause of it.
Add to that some PMS ……and walah I seems to become rude 😦

I have mixed feelings about another season of the show. On one hand I feel very excited and can’t wait to see what the writers come up with in this new season. On the other hand I would love to see Alex do something else. My dream for him is doing a play, on stage, whether written by him or/and with him in the lead.
As Alex doesn’t take the opportunity to do that in the hiatus, I guess I have to hang on to that dream for a while longer…
I would love to see more romance between Steve and Catherine like the role on the beach or the morning ‘make-out’ in Steve’s bed. YES!!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!
Also I would love, love, love to see Sophia in an epi in S5. IMO she was Alex’s best on screen lady untill now.
What wardrobe is concerned, that man can rock even a garbage bag, so whatever he wears (or doesn’t wear) is fine by me!

Alex has a good physique it was better before rehab I hope he will lose just a few pounds…I think that’s why his pants are looser. I am sure they keep the wardrobe the same (Steve never has a lot of $$$) so for him to be in new “clothes” would be a bit odd…jmho.

I have a question; why is it that when CBS is promoting their shows that H50 is rarely seen and yet there are other (worse) shows on that they promote the heck out of. I think we as fans should say something to (Lenkov) on that point…after all aren’t we (the ones who watch) got the show renewed for another season.

Barb I am taking a wild guess here. I think SOTB costs the Network a great deal of money and they blow a big part of ther budget of promoting it, on putiing that up every year.
It might also be that they kept a low profile, while the court case was haniging over their heads. Now that it has been resolved, they might feel more free to promote it – let’s see what happens now.

This news just made my morning! I really have been enjoying the last few episodes and I think Jorge’s character is a great addition to the show. I think we will see Seal Steve soon, like maybe a trip to Cambodia?
I like your wish list! I wish for a resolution to Wofat and Steve’s mom. And I really want some kind of tension between Catherine and Steve and more Komokona and hopefully they bring back Sang MIn.
I concur with the missing core four but hopefully that issue is now resolved.

What ever they have planned for this season´s finale, it will be just awful to have to wait for 6 months before we get the answer. Arrghhhh!

Only good thing about being behind on the rest of the world. Our broadcaster keeps going until epi 9 and picks up at epi ten completely disregarding season endings. To me that is a blessing in disguise, cause I just can’t seem to handle cliffhangers.

I couldn’t agree more with this! Honestly, I just couldn’t understand why TPTB were SO secretive/evasive about why Grace Park in particular was away. Seriously, what was the big deal? Was that their choice? Or did she ask them not to announce it publicly? Whatever the reason, it just didn’t make sense to me – for goodness’ sake, the woman was just having a baby, not going on some secret CIA undercover mission! By all accounts, Grace seems to be a very private person, and I totally respect that, but surely all parties could’ve had a little more respect for the fans by being honest about the situation.
On another note: I agree with the person who said the Steve/Cath “relationship” seemed “forced”…I have no problem with McG having a love interest but frankly, I’m totally ambivalent about the Cath Rollins character – I think the writers still haven’t figured out what to do with her. Not to mention that her role has dwindled to practically nothing these last few episodes and there are now rumours swirling that she may even be leaving the show, based on all the promos/teasers about episode 4.21…who knows?!
Anyway, rant over! Love the show in general, but this season has seriously been lacking in ohana moments.

I was the one who wrote that Steve/Catherine feels forced. I am curious about the promos was that about the Catherine centered navy episode? I am also ambivalent about the character as well. I know that they had better chemistry when they weren’t together as much…personally I feel as though Steve is better when he is alone. He even said so in the last episode that he isn’t meant to live with anyone.
I occasionally check IMDB and there is no mention of Grace Park having a baby. I don’t know how often they update their profiles but I haven’t read anything about a baby (just heard the “rumors”.).
I, too, miss the ohana moments and hope that changes for Season 5.

I find odd that Grace´s birth was never announced, I can understand the pregnancy might have been more private but not to tell us even when it had happened. Still. I have liked Kono in previous seasons but now she has been a bit invisible. And I really didn´t like those early season scenes with her and Adam. I don´t think that story lead anywhere and to me it felt they were just trying to keep Grace part of the show even though she was on maternaty leave.
Feels like McRoll fans were given small treats in the beginning of the season but this year Cath has been set aside with no real important part of the show. I suspect Peter is now working to get the McDanno fans over with the rest of the episodes. Will be an “interesting” end to this season…
