Defenseless with #AlexOLoughlin?

A while ago, we shared the story about this upcoming seminar, taught by Egan and Alex. One of our new readers going by the name K, told us she was going to attend it and we asked her to share her experience with the rest of us unlucky ladies, who are not fortunate enough to be able to attend ourselves 😉 .

I find it very hard to believe anyone would push Alex away. Did they really?

seminar-1

Click on pic to read the article on Honolulu Pulse about the seminar.

This is K´s account of her day, learning to defend herself at the hands of Alex O :

Best $300 ever spent.

Alex was amazing. He was very sweet and very helpful. He’s an excellent teacher. That bad-boy façade we see on Steve McGarrett every Friday night was non-existent. He was smiling, laughing, and joking around. He wasn’t arrogant at all. He was friendly and very laid-back. It didn’t seem like he was forced to be there, he was very willing and cooperative.

Good news: all women behaved themselves. 😀

We weren’t allowed to use our personal cameras (which is why you don’t see any of our photos surfacing the web yet). Egan Inoue had a photographer go around and snap photos, which are to be emailed to us. Hopefully soon.

There were two sessions. There were 15 ladies for the first session and at the second session there were 20 ladies. The overall event raised $10,500 for Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children.

The seminar started off with instructor introductions. Egan, Alex, and a few female trainers taught the class.
seminar-3

It began with Egan showing us how to do the move, and then we broke off into pairs and practiced the moves on our partner.

Alex made every woman’s fantasy come true when he went around the room and help us one-on-one with the movements and motions of the move. Yes, this meant lots of touching, grabbing, grappling, pinning, holding—you name it.WAAH

Alex helped me with an “escape” move. He was pretending to be the attacker, grabbing me by the wrists. The move was to “do what the attacker least expects” which is to go in close then push away. I remember my face being on his chest when I went in close. Either he had a strong grip or I’m just weak but I couldn’t pull away. I remember saying out loud: “Oh my god, you’re strong.” Haha. He told me to use my back to help pull away instead of twisting my body to turn.

The next move was as if someone grabbed your shoulder from behind and we were to make a circle with our arm to get him off. My hair was down and I remember him moving my hair to grab onto my shoulder. I made a circle with my arm to knock his hand off. He said it was good. “Just remember..big circles,” he said as he was holding my arm making the motion.

He worked with me and my partner on a quick-get up move if we were pushed down to the ground. No touching was involved for this one. Shucks.

Later, he was helping a pair nearby on a sweep move and I was just observing the motions when he needed a partner to demonstrate to them and motioned me to come over. Without any hesitation, I gladly helped him.

He was on his back and I was the “attacker” pretending to be choking him. I don’t really remember what happened after that. I remember being on top of him with my hands around his neck – haha.

Alex helped me learn another sweep move. He played the role of the “attacker”. He stood over me as I was on my back. I had my right foot on his hip and my left foot hooked behind his knee and my right hand grabbing his ankle. From there, we’re supposed to use our left foot to bring the attacker down and use our right foot to push him off and throw his ankle across his body to make it harder for him to get back up. I brought AOL down! 🙂
seminar-2

I think all ladies had a fair amount of Alex time.

The session went by really fast. We had about 5-10 minutes to practice the move then we had to move on and learn a new one. Before I knew it, the class was over.

The main thing that Egan and Alex wanted us to take away was:
1. 1. Try not to get yourself in that kind of situation.
  • a. Safety in numbers
  • b. Don’t be afraid to ask for help…call security or police to let them deal with the situation instead of dealing with it yourself which might put you in more danger
2. 2. Be cognizant of your surroundings.

3. 3. Run, run, run!

At one point during the session he mentioned having a “wife and three kids” at home, so I’m guessing that he and Malia tied the knot. I thought they were just dating and with a kid together. Sorry ladies.

After the session, Alex stayed around to mingle and take individual photos as well as a group photo with us.

As he was heading out, some fans caught him and asked for autographs which he graciously signed using the hood of his truck as a flat surface. I asked him to sign my Hawaii Five-0 pass.

And that marks one of the greatest days of my life. It feels like it was a dream.
The fact that he didn’t get paid to do any of this and was truly volunteering his time to raise money for charity makes him even more respectable and attractive.
I love Alex O’Loughlin!

 Thank you K!

This is such a great account of this memorable day and it is a wonderful treat for us all!! 😛

Thanks so much @K for sharing your envy-inspiring, hands-on AOL experience. 😉
I won’t deny that I’m INCREDIBLY jealous and I don’t know exactly why I almost had tears in my eyes while reading this. But to hear how laid-back and relaxed he was with you ladies, even though he HAD to know why you all REALLY signed up, makes me love him even more… I guess I’ll have to get in line… *sigh* 😉

ONE LUCKY WOMAN!! I’ve got to scream out loud now, cause I think I would not have been able to handle the situation. Look at the first picture of the article. She has her knee in his CROTCH. More screaming! Fans herself. I really admire you, for keeping so cool @K and thanks a lot for sharing this incredible event with us. I can’t get over it. He held your wrists, firmly, ok, I have to go now before I start being hysterical. I am all flustered now.

I have also traveled throughout the United States going to see my favorite band, Nine Inch Nails in different cool venues.

Because of my health I wasn’t able to do pretty much anything but work and sleep for the past few years. I had a few seconds with Alex when he stepped off the red carpet and a nice pic with him. Best thing of the trip though was being a background extra in episode 4.08. (the one with Nick Jonas) My friends and I went to the airport when they were filming and got picked as bg extras it was fun and amazing. Alex recognized us from the evening before and said “Good morning ladies”, my heart melts at the memory. He is the best!

Come to think of it, this whole thing reminds me a little of an acting workshop I once took part in at Fedcon XIV (2005). It was held by Andrew J. Robinson (Garak in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), and even though I wasn’t attracted to him the way I am to Alex (I just admired his portrayal of Garak), it was an awesome experience. As someone said here about Alex in that seminar: you got to meet the REAL person, not a TV persona. That’s how I felt taking part in that workshop back then. It was amazing! Might be a little off-topic but I just remembered… and maybe I needed to remember so I can feel a little less jealous. 😉

Great article but if he was legally married don’t you think the press would have gotten hold of that especially with his celebrity status in Hawaii?

    Like

    • Do not know? It took the press 8 months into their pregnancy with Lion, to find out and say anything about it. 😀
If nobody asks, they might feel they don’t have to share.

Do you have the article or link where they said that they were married? I know people can talk but when it comes down to facts everything is not always true. I know the news media is always interested in celebs personal lives especially marriages. That’s why they have shows like Entertainment Tonight and The Insider and a zillion other shows about them. I’m sure that would be big news in Hawaii! Thanks!

        Like

        • There is no article where they say they are married. And we are not saying that they are.
What K is saying here, is that Alex referend to Malia as his wife – either he is just using the word or it is true – who knows?
On the latest picture of them from AIF awards, Malia was displaying a rather prominent and big ring on her ring finger – again that says nothing, but it makes you wonder?
Also at SOTB it sounded like he talked about being married into a Hawaiian family (although the words are not clearly heard and we can’t be sure)
Sure we will only know for sure when they formaly announce it – but just because they haven’t yet does not make it true or false.
I actually wish the media will ask, so that we can get an official answer!!

          Like

    • I somehow think this matter is not of importance to the news media. It is just fans that are curious of it 🙂 And let´s not forget that Alex doesn´t answer questions about private matters, not even to the media.

      • Lynne

Last interview I heard he did answer several questions about private matters like his family. And the news media is always interested. Just trying to get to the facts and not speculation…

        Like

        • In the latest article (TV Plus) he refers to Spike as his stepson – also makes one kind of wonder?
But as I say above, evidence are piling up, but only an official announcement will clear it up for those of us who wonder about it.

I think with Alex saying this stuff at publicized events the news media is then free to check it out. OF COURSE it would be big news in Hawaii. They are always discussing the show in their papers and even on their TV news as it is basically the only series filming successfully there.
So if this was a legal marriage, and not just a symbolic ceremony, it would be a matter of public record and I think it would be in some newspaper or in the news.

Alex has not been very private about his family, unlike the rest of the cast.

    Like

    • Again I am saying as I said to Lynne. Just because the media said nothing does not make it true or false. It took the media 8 months to report on their pregnancy – that was also big news for me.
Alex using the word wife, marriage into a Hawaiian family, Spike as his stepson and Malia wearing a diamond ring on her ring finger, are all things piling up evidence – if it is true all false – we don’t know?
Fact is earlier their was speculation because others said things – now Alex is saying things that makes one wonder – is he just seeing his commitment as that of a husbamd or is it an official marriage of a Hawaiian ceremony – we will not know for sure either way unless the question is asked and answered. Just because nobody asked or answered it, does not make it true or false.

A pregnancy is not public record; a birth is. So pregnancy isn’t something the press will report on unless given permission. A marriage IS public record. On Alex’s wiki they updated the Aussie award he got last month but no mention of him being married.
I am not saying he is or isn’t. I am saying that I find it strange that the media wouldn’t have checked this out right after he mentions marriage and since it would be in the public records, reported on it.
Either it is a secret (so why is Alex saying anything?) or it isn’t and he would announce it in his wiki and in the media officially.
There is controversial evidence both ways.

        Like

        • The media might just not be as interested in it as we as fangirls are, to go and look up public records? 😀
Sorry but wiki is not an official page of Alex that he updates himself. Tons of information on that page of Alex are simply not true at all and totally inacurate!
And again he might not say anything, if he is not asked or have a reason not to want to answer.
And I totally agree with you there are evidence both ways ……
