Note:  The quotes are not from this interview. I just thought they went well in here.

The gifs are of Alex talking about Feed.

This was also requested by someone (Melissa I think her name was). He is very animated when talking. Looking quite handsome, in that velvet jacket.

  1. I love this interview–one of the best parts of my Feed DVD. I like to think that his face is slightly red because he’s BLUSHING, but it might just be a slight sunburn……. He seems a bit self-conscious and shy to me. Those faces he makes with his handsome!devil! face are killing me. ::thud::

    • I think this interview is a bit different to what he´s done since. Could be that he was so much involved in the making of Feed, not just as an actor. He is obv proud of the outcome (as he stated on this video), and also he was no star yet but a young starting actor. Seems only fitting he is still shy (and bloody adorable!). It is his modesty coming through, and we love him for having his feet firmly on the ground still 🙂
He does look sunburnt a bit. Btw my dvd doesn´t have this! Dammit!

  2. Reblogged this on gem1n12505 luvs H50 cast and crew and commented:
He could pretend he was a bin bag and still act most people off the planet

    • I keep coming back to this comment, I want to see him in so many other roles than Steve McGarrett. Please let H50 come to an end after this season…yes I said it!

Bold statement Paula, but I agree. As much as I enjoy seeing Alex every week, I’m kind of hoping HF-0 will end after it’s achieved the syndication requirement, especially when I read comments from idiots who say Alex can’t act. Alex deserves better than this show. He should be a movie star !!

Paula & Linda E, I hear what you are saying……but for me it’s what ALEX wants, that matters. A happy Alex, no matter what he is doing, provides for GREAT viewing!!
In other words, if it is his own wish to move on from H5-0. I will support it 100%. If he is miserable, he will fail at being that star we all want him to be and that will be a disaster for us fan girls…. 🙂

            • Hi, Paula, why do you think he’s not as in love with the show now as he was in the beginning?

I do tend to agree with you, though, that it would be nice for him to move on to bigger and better things. We stick with H50 because we love Alex and the Fab 4 dynamics but he does deserve so much better. And can’t even say that we would miss H50 on our screens if it finishes as we’re not even getting here in Oz ATM (sorry to keep harping on that one!).

Agree with Linda, too, that I get sick of reading negative comments about Alex’s acting. He really needs something amazing to go to after H50 finishes that really showcases his acting skills to the world so he is finally appreciated (not just by us, I mean :)). Until that happens, we can just keep on celebrating him!

I think he loves living in HI and the fact that he finally is in a successful show, and a steady income are major pluses for him. The recent interviews he made with Scott also showed some kind of lack of enthusiasm for the show. When H50 began he was so into it and it showed in the interviews too. We all agree of his acting skills (super good) and I doubt H50 offers enough of variation/challenge. I also think that if Steve was given the chance to have more fun, even Alex would like that (he is a naturally funny guy :D). But last season got so serious and wonder if so 3 will be much different…
But as I said, hopefully 3 seasons are enough.

There was several reports in the spring of 2010 that Alex didn’t want to do H-50, and similarly that people behind H-50 didn’t see him as McGarrett. Happily for the rest of us there was an eventual meeting of the minds. I characterize H-50 as a 44 minute thrill ride, which I don’t believe places much demand on any of the actors in terms of showing their range. My thought is now that McGarrett’s mother has shown up very much alive there will hopefully be a story arc filled with enough angst for Alex to show a little bit of his acting chops.

Thanks ttscook, I agree and lets hope for the best

This is what a reporter wrote about what Alex himself said at the workshop in Hawaii in 2011 :
Everything you do is an experience you can draw upon for a role, he said. Never mind that the project you’re in isn’t good; shine as bright as you can. And find the truth.
“We are either in the truth or we’re not,” O’Loughlin said. “The truth is difficult to get to. This conversation we are having is the truth. We get to this place and the cameras are rolling, we’re great.”

                • Tend to agree, Paula, from what I have seen but I kind of put it down to not being all that well this year. I think I could do two more seasons, though, and really hope that whatever comes next is going to showcase his talent and gain him the recognition he deserves. I think the show suffers a bit from trying to find its place. It was better in S1, to me, when it didn’t take itself too seriously and the crime storylines were better, more the focus of the episodes with the team banter thrown in for good measure. I realise that doesn’t give the actors much of a chance to extend themselves but the show was better then, I reckon. ACA with ttscook that it’s a thrill ride and lots of fun and that is what it seemed to do best. Will see what S3 brings.

I see him in everything! 😀
Haven’t read the book, (don’t have the time at the moment) so I don’t really know what the character is like. (Have seen contradicting reviews on it)
If he feels like it is a character he can identify with and excel in, it will be great….otherwise it won’t work – no matter how much we want it! 😉
